Never usually make Floyd threads cause it usually just descends into the tiresome same debate we’ve had for 15 years but…
Do you think he could still fight at the top level like B-Hop did on his mid to late 40’s?
He has right sort of style, the ring intelligence and work ethic/discipline to still be successful IMO.
He’ll obviously never do it because he’d rather fight YouTubers and abuse Japanese children but if he did I think he’d have a legitimate shot at matching/beating B-Hop’s record.
Thoughts?
So how was pac able to fight at such high level at 42, having win first title at 19?
Pacquaio's final win at world level was at age 40.
And he did that because he's great.

Nope, too out of practice too even beat even old D. Garcia.
No because Hopkins only fought into those ages because he had his first world title fight at age 28 and world title win at age 29.
Whereas Floyd was at world level from age 18.
These components are more telling them the actual age number.
If you start later, you tend to fight further in age.
Sergio Martinez is another example, Joe Joyce right now is another example.
Then you’ve got Wilfred Benitez who won his first world title at age 17 and was finished at the top level before he was 30.
So how was pac able to fight at such high level at 42, having win first title at 19?
He consistently fought top level competition for like 15+ years. :lol1:
You’re a good poster man but you struggle go to remain objective when it comes to Mayweather.
Not one was at their best. Canelo on the way up, PAC, Cotto, battle fatigued or injured, Corrales weight drained and coming off a case of bronchitis, Oscar and Mosley past prime.
Who knows. Floyd's got a style that aged well. Lot's of holding, a good chin and just enough offense for Nevada judges to be able to give him the round. If anyone can make a comeback at 45, it's Floyd (especially if he don't fight outside of Vegas).
Pacquiao was injured, he also wasn’t the same fighter he was five years prior when Floyd admits he marinated the fight.
Setting aside Floyd’s arrogance and criminal behavior, as a fighter I have always acknowledged he is a great defensive fighter. But he also cherry picked his entire career, never fought an elite level fighter at their best. I see no reason to believe he would be competitive today with Spence, Crawford, Thurman, Garcia, or even Jermell. At this point even Broner beats him.

Bro, you said Floyd couldn’t complete with the top Welterweights at 38 when he beat Pacquiao the guy ranked #2 behind him. Was Pacquiao not a top Welterweight in 2015?
You guys are so salty man, Floyd is an arrogant pr*** and I don’t like him either but it doesn’t change the fact he’s one of the greatest technicians the sport has ever seen.

He could so long as he fought B/C level competition. Forget about Floyd fighting for a world title right now. An exhibition is more os a show than a sport. He's not the same guy anymore. He will get hit and hurt. That fight last night was smoke and mirror. Plus I think Floyd got hit pretty good in that fight, which I was surprise by.
He could compete because he’s great enough to turn every fight into a technical fight. But he’d be vulnerable to getting out worked by some guys as well. Doing what he’s doing now is good because he can earn some decent coin and he doesn’t have to train as hard. I doubt Floyd even spars anymore.
Floyd need to stick to overseas Exhibitions honestly, nothing left to prove one of these younger fighters would ultimately do to him what Holmes did to Ali and what Terry Norris did to Sugar Ray Leonard
Even a Exhibition with Jake Paul is dangerous for Floyd at this point with the Size difference and his Reflexes are clearly fading as the Japanese MMA fighter was landing some good shots on him
Not a chance. At 38 he couldn’t compete with the top tier prime welters, no way he can do it now at 45. Spence, Crawford, Thurman, Ennis, Ortiz all work him over. I would say even second tier fingers at 147/154 punish him, but there is no shame in that, he is 45 after all.
Hopkins longevity is partly because of his late start in boxing, and being the bigger man for most of his fights. His fighting style allowed him to take less punishment by clinching and wrestling. Something Floyd relied on heavily during his last five or six years before “retiring”.
Correction, at 38 he WAS the top tier welterweight.
Very point tbf. Foreman started pretty young though. In the modern era it does tend to be guys who turned over later on that have success past their physical prime.
Benitez was more lifestyle choices IMO.
Foreman's an exception because he retired and took years off.
There's other exceptions but the rule is most of the time the same, the clock starts when you hit world level, and then you have around 10-15 years (give or take depending how good you are) and you usually start slipping at the 10 year mark.
If Floyd were to fight now at any kind of world level it would have been 25 years since he first fought at world level. It's just no feasible to still be able to compete at that point.
Dude OP I like you but pretty sure you trolling here.
You know Floyd looks like dog **** these days and really needs to sit his ass in a rocking chair before he gets hurt.
Nah I’m genuinely not.
I think with the right matchmaking he could definitely win a title.
I’d like to see him try. It would be much better than this current circus sideshow bullsh** he’s doing.
Pacquiao was fighting with an injured shoulder, it was obvious he wasn’t firing. He was also far more battle fatigued. Had Floyd not marinated the fight for five years under his own admission it would have been a different fight.
How am I hating by telling the truth? You asked for opinions and now you don’t like them so it’s hating.

Pacquiao was still an elite fighter in 2015 and Floyd schooled him. His shoulder didn’t look too bad to me either. I’m a massive Pac fan and can’t stand Mayweather but it is what it is. Feels like you’re just hating man.

Against who? A one-armed Pacquiao, a shot Berto? Those fights were boring and he got booed at the Berto fight with fans walking out halfway into it. Jab, clinch, run, throw a right hand pot shot. Wash, rinse repeat.

Hard to tell with exhibitions and him not doing his usual training camp to sharpen up with sparring etc
Floyd was definitely declining in his last 2 professional fights more noticeably I still think he would be competitive vs anyone at 147 still but can't see him beating them kinda like Pac was vs Ugas where the edge has gone
