All 3 fights where decided by judges so there was no KO’s and there was no knockdowns in 36 rounds and no one was truly hurt to the point someone was getting stopped or dropped. Now that could be a testament to both of them having extremely good chins.
I understand some people wanted to see a 3rd fight because they wanted a definitive winner because they thought both fights where controversial but i personally felt the two where enough and canelo edged out the 2nd one.
I watched this fight at the movies and I never fall asleep out in public but the undercard fights I got dropped and went in and out of consciousness and I got upset because I was by myself and didn’t like being off guard like that lol.
now the main event was not boring but I think people just wanted it to end dramatically that’s why I think fans was booing when there was “decent” action throughout the fight.
but going from fights like pacquiao/Marquez and fury/wilder was this the most boring trilogy?
We've got to remember Canelo been in the pro game for 17 years and been in 62 fights. That's a lot of wear and tear.
That's true, Canelo is still young in age but he's already had a pretty long career. He's been at championship level for over a decade now.
This too. This what has me kind of worried about the Spence vs Crawford fight.
A fight is gonna break out in that one. Spence style guarantees that. And bud don't like being hurt. He becomes more vicious after he's hurt.
Canelo isn't your typical come forward Mexican and GGG turns into a jab machine when canelo comes around. So that's why they never had combustion
This too. This what has me kind of worried about the Spence vs Crawford fight.
Yea too much caution will ruin a fight. Add that Canelo and GGG both have granite chins.
First 2 were far from boring. Last night's fight was boring but not unexpected considering Gennady is shot to pieces. What was unexpected was Canelo not being able to emphatically close the the trilogy Ala Fury against Wilder, considering how past prime GGG is. But with the high skill level, chins and defensive ability of the two we were never going to witness one of them getting KTFO like Wilder.. Not far fetched Spence vs Thurman turns out the same either.
They were too good and too smart to get knocked out or hurt. Thus, we never got to see major moments of drama.
This too. This what has me kind of worried about the Spence vs Crawford fight.
I think we were expecting a barn burner from these two and never got one. They were all chess matches, enjoyable but not the action packed fights we expected.
I agree with the poster who said Pacquiao-Bradley, Arum got so greedy he milked an entire trilogy out of that stinker.
If you’re a boxing fan, then you’ll know that pacquiao-bradley is the most boring trilogy of all time. That fight had no business being a trilogy fight.
pac vs bradley 1,2,3, was more entertaining than any of the canelo vs GGG fight... fought hella scarrrred!
If you’re a boxing fan, then you’ll know that pacquiao-bradley is the most boring trilogy of all time. That fight had no business being a trilogy fight.
O I forgot they fought 3 times that was a very useless trilogy. But didn’t pacquiao drop Bradley a couple of times and make him roll on the canvas lol.
Holyfield vs Ruiz had more drama than Golovkin vs Alvarez..
I don't think Golovkin vs Alvarez was a bad trilogy. It was clearly a very high level match up skill for skill.
I think it is more so Alvarez's style which lead to the action being kind one paced. Golovkin if pushed would of always pushed back equally.
I was never really that engrossed by the match up anyway. Not really a big fan of ether fighter.
Holyfield vs Ruiz is the most boring trilogy that comes to mind.
Canelo vs. GGG, their first two fights were great and very competitive, only their last fight was a dud and it was due to GGG's age and Canelo is starting to look past it as well.
GGG still looks like he's in good shape, but right at the 1st round, you could see how shot he is.
I'm sure theres been plenty worse although tbh i'm struggling to recall one. The first two fights were pretty good, the last was a dud, even if the last fight was as good as the first two it wouldnt be going down as an ATG trilogy in terms of action though.
The first 2 were good fights, they both looked old in this one,
Ggg definitely looked his age this night but I noticed when ever ggg fights someone that will be throwing something back at him that Mexican style goes out the window unless it’s someone he can just steam roll over.
