Will 168 benefit GGG this weekend or will he just be a blown up Middleweight?

Will help, less weight cut. Better stamina and strength. OI say GGG comes in around 165 or 166. Will weigh like 172 on fight night. He just has always had a style that meshes well with Canelos. Canelo is faster and more compact. I think the extra weight will help GGG.

G is old. If he was 5 years younger I would say 168 would be helpful. Now? I think he will feel better but that won’t compensate for being 40. His chin has always been made out of iron though. That Bivol loss could still be weighing heavy on Canelos mind which adds a lot of drama to this trilogy. Getting more and more stoked as the fight nears :boxing:

Shouldn't be a problem, it'll be less taxing on GGG's body since he is getting older as it is harder to cut weight as one ages. Plus he's naturally bigger than Canelo, who had to use the juice to move up.

It should help him. I personally felt he should have moved up hears ago. Dude is getting older and has the build to carry the weight naturally.

I think it'll help him, but it would've helped him even more if he had moved up a bit earlier and not just now for the biggest fight of his life. His only advantage in this situation is the fact that they've fought twice. Other than that, I'd be a bit moved by the fact that he didn't fully prepare himself for a move up in weight.

It'll help. He also doesn't have to come in at 168. Coming in 2 or 3 lbs under would be just as fine. Probably should've moved up already but he's facing a familiar opponent so the new weight won't be completely new.

He is almost 40 so not having to cut weight will still benefit GGG. Its like you had hatton at 147 vs floyd and everyone wanted to act like 147 was harder for hatton but forgot that he also benefited not having to cut weight. GGG doesnt blow up inbetween fights like Hatton but its still harder to make weight the older you get, he has fought above 160 before for that very reason
