He's was an athletically gifted but ring IQ wise he was a meh. Broner was also focused on pursuing a career as a SoundCloud rapper, not to mention everytime he got in the ring he was more focused on trying to copy Mayweather instead of finding his own style. So basically it was his mentality and his lack of discipline.
Mentality. Mental strength is needed at the top level, and Broner was seriously lacking there. He has balls. Showed balls of steel vs Maidana. Took his beating like a champ and even won 4 rounds in the process. But look, watch his fight vs Garcia. Broner was never in any danger at all, but did not have the mentality or inner desire to go even 1% outside of his comfort zone, and lost a fight he was very easily capable of not only winning, but winning very easily. Cash in.
This is what many feel puts a fighter in the GOAT discussion. lol
The guy had loyal followers, whether pro or anti. And he wanted to be active. But the PBC model for some reason doesn't allow their fighters to be active. Which many of them don't mind.
I disagree. He had shades of talent but it was far from exceptional and he aint gonna do sht with his low punch output. He is done.
I can think of dozens of fighters in the past 20 years who were way more talented than Broner. Panchito Bojado had real talent but fked it all up. Frankie Gomez was more talented too.
Broner is just a fkin idiot.
There are lots of talented fighters out there many way more talented and athletic than Mayweather or paq. But talent alone isn’t enough you need an inner strength to be a great fighter.
not really those guys were talented, athletic and dedicated, they are both like top 10 to top 15 fighters of all time, way up there.
lol no he could just cut a lot of weight when he was younger. he was very average at 140 and 147 he sucked balls.
people are so easily fooled by philly shell these days. broner barely throws and gives away fights. boxing is hit and dont get hit. not just avoid trying to get knocked out. he gets easily outboxed by anyone half decent at 147, its plodding and slow.
Couldn't be further from the truth lol.....AB was all flash with the size advantage but became ordinary when the hype met the level of competition. Just another Berto and Victor Ortiz.....
Why didn’t he do more he had elite level skills, decent punch and a strong chin?
Elite skills based on what?
being a weight bully and beating a bunch of midgets in the lower weights? getting a gift against Ponce de Leon?
The biggest highlight of his ¨elite skills¨ was dominating a washed up, basic Antonio DeMarco who was nothing to write home about to begin with
Broner was a hypejob, he never had ¨elite skills¨
he could've had a better career if he was more disciplined, but he didn't do that either

Broner never had elite skills. It was just coming in the much bigger man early in his career and later in his career it came to light that there were never skills in the first place.
Thé mofo had skills , just was far from being dedicated
You being harsh lol
Elite would of came with dedication but it wasn’t the case
I was at the Paulie fight, he couldn't put a dent in him, then he calls out Maidana and Lucas, he Should have gone back down in weigh.
It was obvious from that fight that he wouldn't have the output or power to keep Maidana off him, still pissed off i put more money on broner to lose by stoppage than i did just to lose out right.

Cause He likes to eat. He should of stayed below 140. Most leave the lower weights for big money at welter.
Where is he now?
I mean the other AB didn't even make an official announcement for his retirement. He hasn't been seen in the ring for more than 4 years now.
Maidana tough out for everyone! He gave Floyd his 3rd toughest fight. I would of been OK with a draw in that fight. Heck when the cards wore being read he looked very nervous.
Floyds toughest fight in my book. I have Maidana winning that fight to this day.
People tend discredit Maidana because they were disappointed in Devon Alexander spoiling his way to victory and Khans (career best) performance against him, but Maidana was a tornado, a bad night out for anyone.
