Fury was handicapped by the blood flowing into his eye from that cut and he knew he was a mile ahead on points by the 12th. He was just seeing out the round there, while trying to reduce the possibility of further damage to his eye.
Yeah his plan was to take clean punches to the head so he could see out the round.

Klitschko
Wilder 3x
Whyte
That’s 5 fights vs big names. Fighting 1 big name 3 times doesn’t eliminate the fact that Fury fought “big name” figjters multiple times.
Wilder is STILL a huge threat to any Ring top 10 HW not named Tyson Fury. Fury beat that man 3 times.
I don’t think it matters if Fury defeats the winner of Usyk-AJ II. There will always be excuses to not give him credit.
If Joshua would of fought Whyte again, nobody would be saying that he is fighting a elite level fighter. Whyte is world class, but he is not at elite level.
Tyson Fury has fought two elite level fighters 'Kiltschko & Wilder'. Whyte is on the same level as Derek Chisora.
There is elite level, then world class, then European to domestic level fighters.
But regardless Tyson Fury is a big time performer in big fights. Not flawless, as the fights can be very dramatic. But thus far he has proven, that he will find a way to win.
No idea why anyone is surprised Tyson always performs at the level of his opposition.
He turns it up a notch for big fights I've seen him look trash plenty of times vs B class fighters
Fury was very lucky the fight wasn't stopped for the cut. It was definitely hindering his vision, so the referee and doctor were very kind.
However, it didn't get stopped and Fury did nick most the rounds.
Wallin had his chance but in the end he didn't do enough. Not sure opening a cut is enough for a rematch.
Fury won pretty much every round despite having one eye hanging out of it's socket, vs a man that nobody wants anything to do with.
Yet another performance by Fury that proves that he's cut from a different cloth. Joshua would've quit in that same situation.
Wallin had a guy with 1 eye in front of him,
So you agree it should have been stopped then?
I wonder what the next few years would have looked like if that had happened. TKO'd by a relative unknown.
Shame that Wallin stopped boxing once Fury was cut, and just figured he would get the stoppage by repeatedly opening up the cut.
Prior to that he was boxing well - and when he went back to fighting in round 12 he was the better fighter again.
That was a terrible version of Fury that night. Maybe the worst we've seen. He dodged a massive bullet.
Good assessment. I think it was that fight where Fury came out like Apollo Creed and seemed overconfident. I had seen Wallin fight before and knew he was no Tom Schwarz.
Wallin fought very effective early which is how he busted Fury up (the Swede landed several hard shots clean prior to the cut). After the cut, he threw his game plan out the window and Fury bit down on his gumshield. Fury was very fortunate to escape that fight with a win that night.
You keep using the word flawless, when I said “almost flawless.” Do less selective reading.
Almost flawless isn’t flawless. You took the adverb right off of what I said and have just been ranting about the word flawless.
Almost. Flawless. Vs big names. Yes, Fury is that.
Tyson Fury is a big time performer. I still don't think he is 'Almost Flawless'. I don't think that is the correct way to describe him.
There are too many drastic moments in some of his top level fights. And even his fights that are not at elite level.
Anyone who has watched Fury's entire career, will know he spent most of his early career being banged about.
But whatever happens, it has been proven to date? That he will find a way to win.
I would describe Fury as a big time clutch performer.
Big names... That's two fighters right?
Not exactly a reliable sample set. And I think that's the point.

Irrelevant. You sign up to take the fight, you train, your performance is critiqued.
How come nobody talks about the issues Wladimir Kiltschko was having in his life, during the build up to his fight with Tyson Fury?
Tyson Fury has not been flawless at elite level against elite level fighters.
Being backed up all night in the first Wilder fight, and decked twice is not flawless.
And being decked numerous times again, in their third fight is not flawless.
Tyson Fury is a big time performer, lets make no disputes about that. Fury turns up for big fights.
But I just think the word flawless is not how his performances should be described. I don't think Fury is a flawless fighter.
He gets hit, he gets decked, he sometimes appears to be all over the place. But he finds a way to win, thus-far.

For a guy with as many issues going into the first Wilder fight, coming out with a disputed draw which many thought he won (idc about the verdict tbh, I like both fighters)…Fury did damn well.

Tyson Fury was not flawless vs Wilder.
It was only really in their second fight were you could say? He had 1 flawless performance.
Against Kiltschko, Tyson Fury got the job done. I give him credit for that. But it was no masterclass and a extremely underwhelming fight.
The type of fight that, I believe would not of worked twice on Wladimir Kiltschko.
I guess the fights with Ottin Wallin, kind of expose that Tyson Fury is not really cut out to be a dominant Champion that takes on all comers.
I have always stated that Tyson Fury likes being the challenger and the underdog, that is what motivates him.
Fury will engineer things to the point where he is a underdog. Maybe that is what he is doing now, with his recent retirement.

Is that what passes for getting beat up nowadays?
Wallin had a guy with 1 eye in front of him, where were the hard, clean punches? He took almost zero advantage. And Fury was ducking, dodging, moving forward, holding. He was absolutely tired and on the defensive, but I didn’t see him get beat up.
I saw some punches land, but not nearly enough.
Plus, Fury just seems to prepare awfully for unknown fighters. When it comes to fighting “names”, Fury is almost flawless.
