Anyone else think Shields will school Marshall?

Both women fighters didn't impress me in their last respective fights vs low level opponents. They won, but they look horrified. Their faces seem to say, "How am I going to win in my forthcoming superfight with this kind of performance?"

Hard to say, women's boxing is pretty weak for the most part and the heavier divisions are mostly shit. Most of the women rated in the top ten are part-time boxers, some even have losing records. Shields looks really slick against women who can't fight, Marshall looks like a monster against women who can't fight. The question becomes is Shields really that slick and is Marshall really a monster when they fight another competent fighter. Some of you will say Shields beat Hammer, but Hammer can't fight even if she's athletic and was blasted out once before.

Your observations on Marshall are correct, however what you are not taking in to account is that Shields is also garbage. When she fought on the Eubank Jr undercard she made eubank Jr look like a PRIME MUHAMMED ALI by comparrison, he was light years in front of her in terms of technique, light years. Shields is supposedly super skilled but she's actually embarrasing wmto watch and wins because her opponents are crap/old/undersized, usually all three. She also is used to having a big size advantage. Well savannah is huge, young, strong, decently skilled for a woman boxer, can really punch, will be at home etc. Tbh I don't know who wins, I could see Shields winning on points but I could also see Marshall having no respect for her and bullying her. That sounds racist.

Shields really doesn't have a lot of pop on her punches. With the fight being only ten, 2-minute rounds I can see her winning on points but not schooling Marshall. And Marshall will be a threat to land something hard for as long as the fight lasts. How good is Claressa's chin?

Marshall wins. Something you are not factoring in at all, and should be, is how awkward her style is. There is no sparring that can prepare you for that (or her power for that matter). It's not fluid like Shields', but very effective. For Shields to land clean often, on that awkward, unusual style, she has to get close, she gets close, what happens? She gets whacked. It's clear as day Marshall has legit power, whereas Shields couldn't bust a grape. I'm 60-40 in favour of Marshall, and she is rightly the bookies fav imo. Shields has the better resume, but nobody she beat would be any challenge to Marshall, realistically. It's good they have each other though, as without that, neither have a challenge really. There is no other fight for Shieds I'd care about watching and same goes for Marshall. Nash out. Good, sensible points.

Women's boxing is absolutely garbage, there is zero depth and this so called dream match up is pathetic. I won't be watching but i hope the Brit wins by ko, the yank has zero power and is terrible to watch. Even though the depth isn't as big as the men's division, big fights are made. 2 of the biggest fights in the history of women's boxing have been made this year alone. We can't get anyone from 135 in the top 10 to fight each other and the same goes for Crawford against anyone else in the top 10.

Sheilds is gonna beat this girl up and they're gonna create a new "monster". They tried with Hammer and she was shut out. Marshall is too slow and flat footed. She's gonna get outclassed bad. If all you have is a puncher's chance against a good boxer, that's not really a good chance most of the time.

I love all combat sports male or female but boxing for some reason has few ELITE fighters. The only sport full of very talented women is kick boxing. L. Ali was elite. I honestly can’t think of any that came close, other than Ann Wolfe, Christy Martin. Shields is a solid boxer too. UFC has the same problem except they actually promote theirs. Whenever I see a great boxing female. Their always mixing it up with amateurs. That’s boring to me. What’s the challenge?

The problem with Shields is that she tries too hard. She still has an amateur style in throwing a lot of punches with no power. If she settles down she has enough speed and head movement to pull out a decision. Marshall is all around slow, steady, balanced but slow.

I think Shields could win on points. But I don't think it is Shields who wins or loose this fight, it all depends on Marshall. If Marshall doesn't care for the flurries from Shields, who can't KO a squirrel, then Marshall can unload some pain and win this. So, for me, it all depends on how much Marshall wants it.

The fight isn't that simple. Maybe it comes down to Marshall keeping it close with hometown cards. Shields is slightly out of range late, throws one of those wild looping rights, and Marshall counters her and drops her. I see Marshall escaping with a controversial SD which sets up a rematch (bonus for fans). What I would say is, that Marshall knows how to turn her hips and get maximum power into shots. Some men can't do that.

She will beat the hell out of Shields, I think her corner pulls her out if she doesn’t get flattened in 5 rounds. shields isn’t a great boxer at all, she’s just a good boxer by female standards. She gets hit plenty, no real defensive skills. Marshall will find her very easily and smash her up. In my opinion, womens boxing is on a similar trajectory to womens UFC, not in popularity but the standards improving to the point where the standard changes quite rapidly. Shields had her success because the level of technical skills was extremely low, so her opponents weren’t used to someone with a bit of ability. but now Marshall is one of a handful of women in boxing history that can really punch, knows how to rotate into her shots, heavy handed etc, goes in there to do damage and knows how to do a job. Like Shields’ opponents weren’t used to her ability, shields isn’t used to what Marshall brings and won’t handle it. Marshall beats her up after a few rounds. power isn’t everything, so I’m not basing it on the fact one has power and one doesn’t. I’m basing it on the fact Shields isn’t some boxing wizard, she’s average in a pool of crap, so she won’t overcome someone that can beat her up with no respect for her pillow fists and average skills
