Watching the ESPN telecast, I feel as though that Timothy Bradley and Mark Kriegel are on a collision course to bumps heads soon and it’s going to get ugly. You can hear Kriegel throw sneaky jabs at Bradley and Bradley shooting back at Kriegel basically saying “YDKSB”.
Bradley made the comment of the African pro boxer who died on the Berlanga fight telecast and he was talking about MSG smelling like a pound of weed haha. Kriegel thoughts and opinions just seem unnatural, I feel like he wants to bail since the ESPN boxing commentators correct him about the history of the sport even though Kriegel is the “story man”. Who gets fired first and does anybody notice the beef between Bradley-Kriegel?

That’s all wonderful. Maybe find a sports commentary web site that would actually give a sheeit.
Kriegal drives me up a wall. Bradley is better than Kriegal. Remember when Atlas was commentating? Teddy hated Kriegal. lol He'd rip into Kriegal every second. I think that might be one of the main reasons ESPN let him go, because of Kriegal. If Atlas had his way, he would have fired Kriegal years ago for not knowing **** about boxing. I've seen Bradley correct Kriegal and Mark just kept on with his stupid opinion on something, even though it was obvious that Bradley was right.
:lol1:
I do remember Teddy going at the guy. That's part of why Atlas got removed.Top Rank didn't like Teddy saying fights were robberies, this fighter didn't belong in the ring with that fighter or some of these fights didn't belong on tv.
Teddy used to give Max Kellerman shit way back on fnf like he did Kriegal. He used to tell Max he didn't earn his spot to be getting paid in the sport.
None of them are getting fired.
They're not supposed to be unbiased and they're not supposed to be BFF's. ESPN loves having their commentators argue and debate.
Ward has basically worked from home the past two years and ESPN doesn't give a ****. They're very happy with the commentary team.
This right here. I like Tim, hope he’s there for a while.
and I just assumed Dre worked from home cause he didn’t want to get the shot
Tim seems to have moved more and more into the pumping up the house fighter no matter what type of guy... and that sucks. I like Tim though and he will give actual opinions. Also he’s usually good for one wild statement a telecast which makes me laugh (even if he wasn’t trying to be funny). The last part might be what gets him fired first though unfortunately...the world is so sensitive and looking for reasons to fire people over one wrong sentence.
If I had my choice though...Cypo above said exactly what my first thought was when reading the thread title, “Kreigal drives me up a wall”. Literally I opened the thread to write those exact words:lol1:.
Hes fine in the pre fight build up segments I guess, but I just can’t stand him at the desk.
Literally every boxing broadcast team gets at least some hate here inn NSB from some posters. Different strokes for different folks I guess...but for me it’s Kreigal. It’s like the guy still wants to tell his pre-fight researched lines in the middle of a fight, whether they fit or not. And they almost always don’t.
Yeah! It's as if he's reading from a script that he wrote and that only he knows. Some of his statements come off as so contrived that it bugs the hell out of me. But the other thing that bugs me is that he says things that are just flat out wrong. And when members of the other team point it out to him, instead of conceding the point, he'll double down and argue it even further!!! When it's untenable!! It's like dude, you're wrong. Accept it. Don't let your ego embarrass you. I've seen Bradley look at him as if saying, "I can't believe this guy; is he for real?" :lol1:
Smith is a superstar had Kellerman removed because he was too intellectual and thought audiences were losing interest. What does that have to do with ESPN's boxing commentary?
Because if "debate" is the name of the game, it seemed to me that Smith didn't like the "debate" aspect of the show (which is the whole point of First Take). If ESPN loves to have people argue to make it entertaining, they definitely did not feel that way about a show that its whole existence is premised on arguing.

Tell that to Max Kellerman and Stephen A. Smith. I think Smith never got the memo.

When I watch ESPN fights I try hard not to listen to the commentary. I’m not saying they are terrible because sometimes it is entertaining. But I’m not really listening to them because I think they are too subjective and paint narratives before and during the fight that almost never match up with what eventually transpires.
The personalities are too strong together and the leader/moderator isn’t respected enough by Ward and Bradley to stay in line.
Bradley is always making these crazy noises and grunts when his fav lands a good shot or if everyone says the sky is blue he argues green just because.
Ward is never in the actual building and so there’s a disconnect there naturally. Almost all his opinions come from his personal experiences more so that the objective aspects of fight analysis. And I get it l, he’s a HOF’er.
Kriegal does well with the fight camp mini docu/interview stuff but is cringy at best during the live and post fight commentary. I like that he asks certain questions but for the most part it feels like he’s trying to hard for those “moments.”
This crew makes the old HBO biased commentators seem perfect in comparison.
With all that said, I have conditioned myself to listen intermittently as a fight is being called. And so now it’s less impactful to my objectivity overall.

Kriegel, he said that there was not a fighter born yet to beat Loma because of his footwork and Lopez beat him that night. Kriegel is dead weight and doesn't bring anything to the table.
They might keep him because he promotes the fighters they favor because of network contracts. Tim is good at times and very bad at others but has more credibility than Kriegel
