Amir Khan: Asians will never succeed because they are frail due to poor diets, eating too much curry and use racism as an excuse for why they cant compete
Dam Amir Khan dropping bombs he is getting heat for his comments.
said they eat too much curries and British have better diets and are stronger than his people.
Twitter users soon called out Khan for his remarks.
“These quotes from Amir Khan are terrible (including the curry slander),” sports journalist Shireen Ahmed tweeted. “But in a week with so much trauma the ‘...when people bring religion or racism into something I think it’s all bollocks’ line has me livid. Major disappointment.”
“Quiet unbelievable that someone who has experienced racism in sport has opted to perpetuate harmful stereotypes here,” freelance journalist Renuka Odedra said. “Some entitlement from him to resort to the ‘they eat too much curry’ and ‘they’re using racism as an excuse’ mindset. Smh.”
“What nonsense and ridiculous generalizations about curries and Asian diets, why is this clown so full of himself,” another user said

I thought the cow was sacred in india and they dont eat them?
It is. Ain’t the only meat.
Certain parts of India are more vegetarian than others. Southern India and Gujarat for sure.
It’s a diverse country.
I thought the cow was sacred in india and they dont eat them?
Many Indians, especially those that practice Hinduism, do not eat cows, that is correct. But there are other types of meat they can eat.
I rarely see curry in most Japanese dishes, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc. So no...
We arent talking about southeast asia. I thought that was clear. Amir Kahn isn't Japanese.
A lot of Indians do eat meat but certain religions prohibit it and just in general, a lot of Indians that can eat meat don't eat it much due to the cost. Most Indians just eat roti and lack certain protein in their diet.
Indians are starting to get decent at sports like basketball but they do lack in boxing. A lot of the Muslim boxers that do well are UK based. I don't know if Indians in the UK are starting to box more but I don't think I've ever seen any in the amateur system stateside make any noise. Even Pakistani's here don't really box.
I think Khan was just mainly referring to South Asian countries because as pointed already, we have seen some tremendous boxers come out of Philippines and even in Japan/China.

Completely agree about the food.
The cricket angle is interesting, India have never had an out and out fast bowler yet Pakistan just keep rolling them out off conveyor belts, Pakistan also has far more power hitters.
Someone had a theory that it's because Indians don't eat meat? Probably a load of bollocks but I think it's an interesting subject.
I also think that Asians have a lot more pressure on them by their families to go into academic subjects rather than sports, it's a culture thing.

Maybe he meant his Pakistani community?
I don't think it's accurate to say "Asians" as a blanket when Manny Pacquiao exists, Naoya Inoue exists, Nonito Donaire did tremendous, Uchiyama probably has one of the longest title runs ever, so on and so forth and that's just current times. Not history or anything.
They call those Orientals.

This is true
I grew up in an area with a lot of Indian people, Pakistani too and I asked some friends from there why you rarely see any football players in England from those descent, despite having quite a large population. They said it’s simply culture and even if they were good players as a kid, which some were, a lot of families wouldn’t want their kids joining the academies of pro clubs because it’ll interfere with their education and joining the academies doesn’t mean anything, must get dropped. They are much more lenient with Cricket because its so big in their culture that its seen as a more possible career path because they see it more often
I dont know about the racism part, but asians eat curry. How could that be debatable? It's like saying orientals eat rice or Italians eat noodles.

khan wants to put all his asians people on the med diet so they can be lean mean tough guys living to be 100, he should really bring out his range of healthy curries or diet curries or whatever, khans curries, if mcgregor can make millions from whiskey then why not khan with curries
I have eaten south asian food, and it's fantastic! I never once thought it is some detriment that would make me worse when I eat it. I like mutton biryani, chicken biryani, lamb vindaloo, and many other nice south asian cuisines. I thought there are enough components that covers a good diet (carbs, protein and veggies), plus the spices are supposed to be good with anti-oxidants. Another thing to note is that Khan mentioned "his people" when comparing them to others, so he is referring to pakistanis in particular as he is clearly not an indian.
I do think his comment is quite dumb. He has taken a lot of punishment and has been KO'ed more times than I can remember, so it's not surprising that he is punch-drunk and his brain is whack. I do think he is projecting a lot of himself when he made those comments on the resilience of those people because he was the one who has a weak chin and no heart. He quit against crawford when the going got tough.
hes not the brightest bulb on the xmas tree but hes entitled to his opinions, right or wrong, its probably what he sees around him in his life, he sees asians eating curry and giving out about having no opportunites & thinks hhhhmmm

What I observed is that Pakistanis/Indians refer to themselves as Asians when the subject is about something negative. I see it in occasional BBC news features produced by British of Indian/Pakistani descent. But lo and behold when it's about something positive, they refer to themselves as Pakistanis/Indians all of a sudden, not Asians.
We are still really poor, poorest people in the poorest country of Europe. But I believe future is going to be better, a lot of people in this generation are getting more into society and are less isolated so I think that is really good.
People don't like us here but I personally don't have issues with anyone, once people get to know you, you are good to go.
Where are you from brother?
Glad you’re optimistic about the future!
I’m from the UK
There’s a film I watched called Lacho Drom. It’s like a documentary musical that follows the Romanis journey from India to Europe.
Worth a watch if you haven’t seen it already!
Nice.
How’s life for gypsies there? I’ve heard things can be a little rough for you guys

Which country are your family from if you don’t mind me asking?
Moldova. It is a country next to Ukraine and Romania.
I am "Indian" myself. I put Indian in quotes as I am https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_people Romani. (Or "Gypsy", not the white irish gypsy, but an ethnic one. Not to be confused with Romanians, an unrelated ethnic group and nation)
"Linguistic and genetic evidence suggests that the Roma originated in the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent; in particular, the Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab regions of modern-day India"
So for that reason I do not think it would be racist for me to say, true, I agree with your statement. I don't know if this is genetic or related to diet in India. I grew up on a western diet and I am 6 ft 2 which is way above the average height of a regular indian guy and I have also boxed for years.
My guess is that it is a combination of diet and culture, I wish we had some people here who actually live in India who could give a proper educated guess on this subject, but the numbers are stunning. How many boxing champions out of 1,6 bilion people? You can say boxing isn't popular in India, which it is not, but compare that to the amount of Irish people or African Americans or Mexicans who have become champions?
