I just watched the fight twice back to back.
Canelo did not land a single head shot LMFAO.
In the first couple rounds when Canelo through an uppercut, they touched Bivol but they were partially blocked.
I don't even think he landed jabs on the face. This was a brutal shut-out
canelo can increase the pace BUT be selective about it... kinda like in the 2nd GGG fight where he was the aggressor and threw more punches but he also didnt just throw a bunch of punches.. he applied pressure but was also selective with his shots, he used his upper body movements to create openings. this is what canelo needs to do in the rematch against bivol...
He struggled to carry the extra weight, add in a bigger tight boxer and you saw the result, he cant fight at 175 like he can at 160-168, not against a top guy like Bivol having so many physical advantages and too many skills, Canelo looked like a bloated old fighter, it was the weight he carried and the size/skill of Bivol that's behind the loss.
i dont get why canelo thought punching the arms is gonna do anything? unless canelo has some crazy power... boxer's body is condition to take punches, so unless you are a very heavy handed fighter, punching their arms aint gonna do much.
It opens the guard and it slowly locks up that arm as a weapon, if you cannot hit the chin or the ribs you better start pounding on something to breakthrough.
Low IQ.
he did 0 damage to bivol with that strategy.
what you're saying for him to up the intensity would only make him gas out quicker and get stopped.

Do it at a higher intensity, I have stated that all Alvarez can do? Is fight harder 'In other posts'.
Same game plan, but fight harder. His endurance for me, has never been elite.
Somehow he has to improve it.
Alvarez for all of his skills and abilities. Has no gears, and his endurance is below par.
I don't think he can fight Bivol, with his normal methodical style 'Waiting for some sort of mistake'..
Even if Bivol does make a mistake, Alvarez may not have the power to change the game with a single punch.

that's what he did. he ran out of gas by 6th. lol

I don't think Alvarez should bother that much with punching up top in the rematch.
Body, Arms, Throat, Chest. These are the area's he should focus on and destroy.
Round after round, complete and utter bombardment.
Good ole fashion blood force trauma.

he was hoping this would happen again

he's giving a new definition to arm punching

Didn't look like it to me, which had me rolling my eyes every time I saw comments about how well Bivol handled Canelo's power. Bivol handled Canelo's power by blocking and moving out of the way of it.
Canelo needed to set those shots up but he was doing little besides swing for the fences.
He tried by punching Bivols arms, and trying to fatigue his arms so they could lower for an opening for a right hook. But, even if Bivol was in pain, he understood what Canelo was doing and didn't lower his arms for that opening. World class stuff
That was the plan.
It didnt work this time like it did with Callum Smith
Bivol said today in an interview that his arm hurts so much today that he can barely throw a jab....he said had it been 15 rounds, he would have had issue using his arm.
Bivol honestly is what I love about him as a fighter.
So it sort of worked but not in the timeframe that Alvarez needed it in.
Bivols defense was next level. What really impressed me was how well he had his elbows tucked in to stop the body assault. Canelo, who is a murderous body puncher, could hardly connect to the body clean against a taller lankier fighter, usually eats the body up against lanky guys. Bivol saw everything coming.
That was the plan.

i get it, that was the plan but you would think by round 6, that they would come to realize that their plan aint working... canelo made no attempt to even aim for bivol's head... all canelo's shot was aim low.
