Because Gvoz got lucky v Adonis,& Bivol destroyed Smith & has been champ many yrs winning clearly
You must think very highly of Joe Smith then.
I don't care, I think it was a great win and Bivol's a great fighter.
All it really comes down to is who was a better win, Gvozdyk or Bivol. Who wins if they fought in their prime? I think it's 50-50, maybe slight edge Bivol. Gvozdyk looks great at times and average at times.
Beterbiev is a loose #1, really him and Bivol should be equally ranked #2 with #1 vacant. The legit #1 LHW would be decided with Beterbiev vs Canelo (considering those are the two that win).
That makes no sense, ranking is based on who beat better comp
It literally makes total sense.
When you beat the Champion you become the Champion.
Beterbiev is the man at the weight class, you have to beat him to take his spot.
When Carlos Baldomir beat Zab Judah who was the Champion, he became ranked #1 as the new Champion.
Was he the best fighter? No definitely not but he was ranked #1 because he just beat the guy who was ranked #1.
Marcus Browne
Oleksandr Gvozdyk
Callum Johnson
Gabriel Campillo
Tavoris Cloud
That's a much deeper resume than Bivol's at 175. Betebiev beat former champions, then won a belt, then unified it by beating the reigning lineal champion, and he's fighting another belt holder next.
Joe Smith Jr = Gvozdyk
Pascal > Marcus Browne
Barrera > Callum Johnson
the other 2 are bums
So then how is Bivol's resume better than Gvozdyk's if Smith is his best win lol
Because Gvoz got lucky v Adonis,& Bivol destroyed Smith & has been champ many yrs winning clearly
I seriously doubt Smith pulls it off,he was getting whooped by Vlasov & arguably robbed him
So then how is Bivol's resume better than Gvozdyk's if Smith is his best win lol
definitely.
especially after Joe Smith knocks out Beterbiev
I seriously doubt Smith pulls it off,he was getting whooped by Vlasov & arguably robbed him
That list is a bum of the month club except Gvoz
Bivol's resume is soft as hell beyond Pascal, Smith, and maybe Barrera too.
Difference is Beterbiev beat the lineal champ and unified. Bivol hasn't.
But Bivol beat Joe Smith clearly,& has been a champ for many yrs
That was a great win, so was his win over Pascal.
If we're comparing best wins though, I'm pretty sure Gvozdyk would also beat Smith and Pascal pretty easy.
That's why I'm saying Canelo would be tied with Beterbiev.
Who cares anyway who's #1, just let them fight and settle it in the ring.

but the ranking Beterbiev has is only based on beating Gvoz,Bivol & kov would trump Beterbievs wins & in only 2 fights

He fought similar comp to Bivol, but also beat Stevenson who is a better win than anyone Bivol beat. Even a faded Stevenson.
Stopped Chilemba, close fight, but nobody rly looks great aghast Chilemba even Bivol.
Looked great in his win over Gonzalez after Gonzalez beat Pascal IMO.
Their resume's are similar.

Doesn't matter.
Beterbiev is #1, he'll have to beat the #1 to be the #1.
Gvoz was a flash in the pan imo,he retired immediately afterwards after 1 decent win

Beterbiev is the lineal champion. He beat Gvozdyk, who beat Adonis Stevenson, who beat Chad Dawson.
Beterbiev also has two belts instead of just one, and is about to fight for a third against Smith.
Beterbiev is the legitimate champion of the division until he loses or changes weight classes.
