Today is the 7 year anniversary of the biggest fight of this generation: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao.
Where were you when this fight happened? Who did you think was going to win the fight? Are you disappointed with how the fight turned out?
Easy victory for Floyd. Once he had Pac thinking it was over, it became a typical boring Floyd fight.
Then we have the people crying about Pac's hurt shoulder and that he won the fight if you watch it in super slow motion.
Years later we still have people crying about this fight, it seriously have affected them until today.
It's funny reading some comments people keep talking about 09-10 Pac like Mayweather was not younger long story short Pac was never going to outbox Mayweather if he didn't catch him like Shane did he would get outclassed
Fight week was amazing, the vibes both sides were just happy to be there from both fan bases in Vegas all week!
You knew after Round 4 or 5 when Pacquiao backed off pressure, it was over. Floyd controlled the pace opening round with his right.
We were all expecting Pacquiao to go out like Maidana did, but fought like a settled, paid not as hungry fighter.
Floyd should get more props for this though, he could have never fought Manny in the first place even if Manny was out of his prime. Just glad it happened so no what if.
Only what if is if he fought Pacquiao in 2010
The Great Nash watched it with the brother of the Great Nash. The Official Nash out scorecard read 118-110 Mayweather, with Pac taking Rounds 4-6. Then came all the ridiculous robbery calls and excuses, but that's boxing for you. Nash out. AKA, Dr. Boxing.
Excuse me, Pac won fight a draw at worst. Floyd was in survival mode should have lost rounds 10-8. You only see people that defensive in survival mode, haven been hurt and trying to get through round after being buzzed. That's the only time you should be allowed to be that defensive. And of course if you fight like you've been hurt, which is Floyd s default setting Floyd should be losing rounds 10-8
You’re an idiot. Floyd won and won easily. I thought all of the Manny won idiots were gone. I stand corrected.
I remember visiting my mum for the weekend at the time and watched it in her house on PPV
Even though the fight happened years too late, the buzz at the time was still crazy, east to forget that now.
It wasn’t a great fight, typical Floyd win from the back end of his career but it was quite surreal seeing them both in the ring fighting after years build up.
Im glad that era has gone, from around 2009-2015, this forum was crap, just flooded with Floyd and Manny threads. (Yeah I had an account before this one). You had to scrawl through pages just to find other decent topics sometimes.
Floyd didn't "run", he fought the way he always has. Pacquiao just can't cut off the ring to save his life.
Naw, Floyds output dropped and was less efficient than normal, he worked extra hard to stay out of range. That 6 inch reach advantage was just too much, just showed that these two men naturally belonged separated by 1-2 weight classes.
“The best fighter I ever fought probably was Manny Pacquiao,” Mayweather said. “It's because of his movement. He's a hell of a fighter and I can see why he won so many fights and I can see why he's going down as a Hall of Famer. It's just certain moves he makes.”
Manny couldn't do anything because of his bum shoulder and Froids running and hugging.
Like I said, the fight was 5 years too late and Pac was already getting shopworn.

I remember my brother in law had just bought his first house and we threw a big party for the fight.
He had his TV set up and some couches delivered that day but not much else.
We had a great time even though the fight wasn’t great.
Went as I thought it would. Pacquiao had just been in too many wars. 2009/2011 PAC would have given Floyd a tough out.
Not gonna lie after Pacquiao was left for dead against Marquez I thought the Mayweather fight would never happen. Was it 6 years too late? Of course but I’m glad it happened. I threw a huge party and met my wife to be. And I’m grateful for that.
And negotiations for the fight started 12 to 13 years ago, LOL!
To be honest, who would want to revisit this? The fight of the century definitely didn't live up to its namesake.
I'm a huge Manny fan, accepted the loss. He probably wouldve lost if they fought earlier if I'm being totally honest but Mannys workrate in 09, 10 was an intangible that you had to factor in.
And the most ironic things of this whole debacle is Floyds hypocritical OSDT demands in the beginning and he ends up with an IV/750ml before the fight. LOL! Thats not suspect at all! To put into perspective, 750ml of fluid roughly equals 1.9lbs.
I knew Gayweather didn't have the balls to fight toe to toe, he never did, but I also didn't expect him to stink up the joint as bad as he did.
Floyd fought his typical fight. It was Manny who didn’t. He tried his usual jump in and throw a couple of times early and got countered effectively and basically seemed content to lose by decision.
Manny couldn't do anything because of his bum shoulder and Froids running and hugging.
Like I said, the fight was 5 years too late and Pac was already getting shopworn.
Ah so you swallowed the shoulder BS, ok lol.
Floyd was Floyd, Manny was lost at sea, the ring is a small place when one guy can't do anything but follow the leader, Manny could have gone all Maidana but he chose to go into a shell and do nothing because he got countered early and shut down to the guy that had no idea what to do.

Did Gayweather come out and say he was going to get a boring decision win by hugging and running? Because if he said otherwise, then he's the liar.
He said it was going to be easy work, said it many years prior to the fight, said it all the way up to the fight, he told the truth he was everything we knew Floyd was a master boxer, Manny said he was going to be aggressive and KO Floyd, told his people to bet their house, Manny lied and had a class action filed against him for lying.
If you thought Floyd was gonna fight a toe to toe slugfest, the idiot is YOU!
