What are your pros/cons for universal open scoring in boxing?
I understand the suspense aspect of it at the end of the fight people really like, but I'd be for open scoring in boxing.
Pretty much every sport has players and crowd aware of the score, why shouldn't boxing.
If a boxer saw that he was down on points(like others can in other sports), they can go for broke and come back
What is so bad about open scoring?
We'd also be able to see what kind of bs the judges are possibly doing

- - Boxing caters to the lower order primates on the evolutionary scale.
Canelo/Trout was partial open scoring, and though Trout was behind before getting knocked down and put on the back foot for the rest of the fight, lower order primates still insist he beat Caleno.
definitely, it might put some of these corrupt judges to shame as the fight progresses and they try to balance the books
That's actually my big thing, just putting these judges out on blast and having them take responsibility for once.
My cousin who actually boxed as a pro told me fuck this sport. He was a recipient of a few bad calls where the judges gave it to the other guy and he was telling himself why the f is he doing all this. He puts his body through hell and works his ass off only for someone to say nope you didn't win
In something that is very subjective, you need something to help make things balanced.
Even if the judge is completely wrong during the fight and having a horrible card, at least the boxer can be aware of that and make adjustments if needed.
I think we'd get more knock outs too.
Someone sees they're down a lot on the cards, they try to go for the knock out and either get it, or leave themselves open to get knocked out themselves.
Without a doubt. As you say there is some proper BS scoring and it isnt getting any better but even if it was all good it would be nice for a fighter and his corner to know how they are doing and react on how the fight is going for them.
Off the top of my head I really can't think of any down sides to open scoring other than corner teams and fans sharing their objections to them if they disagree.
I'm just saying, besides the whole ending/suspense aspect, I can't really find a benefit for fighters/fans not knowing what's going on during the fight.
Again, in other sports they see the score, so why can't we here.
Maybe the patriots never make that come back against the falcons
Maybe Marquez doesn't take his foot off the gas rounds 10,11,12 in his 3rd fight with Pacquiao
Maybe Canelo doesn't get a draw card against Mayweather since the judge will know her card is being seen right then and there
I don't know, I'm just seeing a lot more benefits for it than the negative.
If folks have more things to say about it being a negative thing, I'd love to hear why
