He stated on post fight interview that there is no reason for a rematch because he clearly won that fight. I believe his brain was damaged as a result of the punches.
I missed this fight but could he have had an off night? Just because he didn't do what he was supposed to do doesn't make him overrated. He's looked good in all of his previous fights that mattered and I think he is solid.
Eric morales lost a close one to an over the hill Barrera then proceeded to beat a prime pac's ass in his very next fight so one night of looking bad don't mean sht. It happens to everybody.
Absolutely disgusting, Jack easily won that fight, just goes to show how crooked the system is, judges should be blacklisted.
I lost a lot of respect for him. I never thought he was as good as others but I always felt he was a top 10 p4p due to his rugged, tough style but against bigger guys he won't last.
Yeah. Josh lost. Catterall made him look like a crude slugger. And I'm a big Taylor fan too.
What's the point of spending your entire existence training and putting your life on the line in the ring to be robbed like that?

I must admit, I think it is the first time I see a 113-112 card.
Guessing that's the card jack won?, 6-6 in rounds but josh had two rounds he lost 10-8 so 114 becomes 112 and jack lost a round 10-8 so 114 becomes 113.
khan had that score vs Maidana on one card, 6-6 in rounds with the same point deductions.
Taylor also won a card 113-112, 7-5 to Taylor with the point deductions.
I turned it off the moment Catterall got shafted on the cards, Taylor lost, he knows he lost, that greasy haired trainer of his knew he lost, majority of the crowd knew he lost. We all knew he lost.
Id of hoped Taylor could atleast admit he dodged a bullet there and give Catterall some good respect.
Sometimes in these situations, I am not so sure fighters are aware they have lost or how close the fight was.
TeoFimo Lopez was battered, and still he was convinced he won. But surely after watching the fight himself, and being real? He would understand that he lost. There would be no need to announce such a realization the world 'But deep down he would have acknowledge the situation to himself'.
Josh Taylor will understand in the coming days or weeks, that there probably needs to be a rematch.
It is usually the unbeaten fighters who react like Taylor & Lopez etc
I’ve been a Taylor fan for well over a decade, I remember him and Paul Butler tearing it up on the amateur circuit in the England vs Scotland duels.
I also was extremely disappointed tonight. In both Josh’s performance and post fight interview.
I’d summarise it like this: When you associate yourself with trash you become trash. Taylor needs to ditch boxercise Ben ASAP.
You cant just blame the trainer who knows whats going on, could be weight, could be personal issues, could be he is just a good fighter trying to stay onboard a big wave, its not easy to ride that wave most fall off from the performance pressure, the great ones surf it like Kelly Slater.
Plz stop. PBC had about 200 fighters and took a lot of the major talent and today all the talent is squandered and they have 1 fighter in the top 10. TR have have half the p4p roster in the vast majority of peoples lists.
I’ll just end this pointless back and forth here. The only one that will keep this fight from happening is Taylor. If he had no choices like you say he does, or if he didn’t care, he’d just say I’ll let my promoter decide, but if he’s telling you “I’m moving up”, “I don’t want a rematch” etc. These are HIS decisions and he’s showing you he has that power.
Come on man, you gotta be deluded if you think either Taylor or Top Rank would give Caterall a rematch, on any basis- financial/merit/pride/whatever. No one is going to risk Taylor losing his undisputed status to a nobody (sorry Jack) before he moves up to 147.
Top Rank and PBC are as bad as each other in terms of isolating their fighters. The fact that Taylor is British gives TR even more leverage to tell him what to do and fight state-side. There is nothing in it for Top Rank to allow Taylor to rematch Caterall. The best they get is PPV on Sky Sports. But that's no match for any series of fights in MSG or Vegas. The conveyor belt has to keep moving, and Caterall is not a name anyone gives a **** about, unfortunately. There isn't much honor in boxing unless BOTH names are massive (e.g. Canelo GGG).

Thurman is not happening. And I didn’t know that’s how things work with TR. I think you are getting TR confused with PBC where fighters sign contracts where they can’t even badmouth Haymon without getting sued let alone make any decisions or negotiate without his permission. That’s not how TR operate. I think there are good odds of a rematch actually. They wont have to pay Catterall millions and TR have enough top 140lbers for plenty of shots at him should he win.

Edit: I just picked Thurman as a random 'big name'
Taylor clearly lost rounds 1,3,4,5, went down in 8, had a point taken in 11, lost 12... and somehow still won on the cards??
Absolute robbery
Forget questionable 'judging', even basic math has failed tonight. Smh. Beyond belief.
Just picking a random decent welterweight, say, Thurman- Taylor would make more money having non-title fights vs 'names' at 147 than any rematch with Caterall. You know how this works, surely. If you're with Top Rank, you don't get to decide ****.

No. He can leave it up to others or he can decide he wants the rematch. It’s up to him, 100%(or atleast 80%). The rematch does about as well as anything else around and I know Arum doesn’t want to pay Crawford millions.

How on earth is it up to him? He'll do whatever Top Rank tells him to do, which will not be a rematch (or to stay at 140), not in a million years. Even if for some weird reason Taylor wanted to offer a rematch (which from the sounds of his post fight interview he wouldn't anyway).

It is actually.
