I understand Dillian Whyte has until the 21st to sign the contract for the Fury fight, will he go ahead with it?
I think he will at the very last minute. It'd be stupid not to, I'm not sure how his reputation recovers if he doesn't.
What do you think and where does he go if he ducks?
I think so, I'm expecting a fair bit of gamesmanship from Whyte in this build up, it's his only hope really is that he can get to fury mentally somehow, by messing him around as much as humanly possible.
I don't think it'll work but it is probably his best hope.
Agreed. Once the contract is signed Fury has control of the mind games. Whyte would be a fool to back out now. Any case he had of claiming to be "ducked" by the top fighters will crash faster than he did against Old Man Sasha.
This is no less than a 65/35 purse fight. Whyte has sold out the O2 and done 400k ppv while Fury sold 3900 tickets before Wilder so he isn't really this paying public favorite like Joshua and Canelo. See how this plays out but 80-20 is ridiculous. Fury does Shawn Porter-type family diner numbers.
Here's a chart of the last 6 Whyte PPV buy rates:
1 = Joshua
2 = Parker
3 = Chisora 2
4 = Rivas
5 = Povetkin
6 = Povetkin 2

The public has apparently grown tired of him. He's not pulling in many eyeballs.

I have mentioned this in another thread, Whyte needs to go all out 'Push Fury at the very first opportunity, have a jostle if necessary'.
Complete and utter warfare.
Tyson Fury is the favorite, all the pressure is on him. The only pressure Whyte has, is the pressure he is putting on himself.
That’s another reason hopefully Whyte just signs it either way had DAZN won purse bids I don’t believe Fury takes the fight . What it comes down to is Furys insistence of an unfair split ,I don’t actually believe he would be to down if the fight doesn’t happen I think he would avoid a very difficult fight and get a huge pass and move on to a far easier fight for himself but less money , Whyte is the fight he can really generate a huge profit but that comes with bigger risks .
It’s just he positioned himself in a win /win situation, either he doesn’t fight Whyte or he does but takes an unfair percentage for himself ,he was definitely willing to fight in a non title fight next which shows he doesn’t actually care if the fight happens and oddly enough I think most of his supporters on here would like that . The Whyte haters are another type of bizarre where they think Whyte getting more then 20. % effects their own bank account ,the forum is probably the most out of touch boxing place I’ve seen . :lol1:
Yeah, no idea why people begrudge Whyte having a normal split of the purse. He's clearly a huge fight for Fury. They wouldn't have bid such a huge amount and be planning to put it in Wembley if not.
Oh well, let's see what happens, but this split situation has made it unnecessarily more difficult to make, and just born out of greed.
I’m not sure what interview it was but Warren said Fury wasn’t going to fight Whyte if he wasn’t getting 80/20 split . Should arbitration change the splits then maybe it’s Fury we should all be worried about and not Whyte . Posters can say what they like but Fury never was in a rush to fight him and fighters behind the scenes usually know why they don’t like certain match ups , for me the demand fir 80 tells me a lot and that’s Fury does care a lot about money and he’s not the confident guy on social media he knows he’s going in a war .
If abritration changes the splits, can Top Rank/Queensbury even be able to afford the event?
The whole thing is a clusterf*ck.
It'll probably end up costing Top Rank more than if it was 35% and they just got on with it at a lower purse.
They will really not want this abritration to happen.

- - Y U no axked him?
'toopid?
Interesting point. So with arbitration, this deadline could get pushed back?
Well, not sure we can really say what will happen.
What seems to be the case is that the WBC and Top Rank do not want the Arbitration to happen, so will do whatever they can to stop it from happening.
On the other hand Dillian will want the Arbitration to happen as he has nothing to lose. The % won't go below 20%.
It's a messy situation that just could've/should've been avoided with a normal split.

I imagine he will do it exactly as you say and if he doesn't sign I think his reputation will be shot exactly how you say.
Only way out of a bad look is if there is something ridiculous in the contract and he exposes it but I reckon the contract will be solid.
He will sign.
Whether it's before the date above is really down to the lawyers and arbitration. Arbitration doesn't end until after that date, so it's not hard to forsee the date changing to wait on this. Top Rank and the WBC will obviously be trying to make Whyte without the arbitration ending to get their way.
It's all a total mess. Shouldn't have messed with the %s and the fight would already be done.

I think a lot of things make more sense if you see recent dealings surrounding Fury/Joshua/Wilder/Whyte in relation to wider business interests involved. Fury was paid a spectacular signing fee by Arum/ESPN and, I suspect, part of that is for attempting to drive DAZN to the wall. If broadcast viewers are lost to an app they will likely never return.
I think he'll sign at the last minute too, he seems like a natural born drama queen so that's the sort of thing he'd do.
There's still the possibility that he'll turn down the contract but he's gotta realise how that'll look right? He's not so stupid as to turn down a shot at the number 1 heavyweight and a lot of money, right?
Right?
He will sign.

If he doesn't sign people will somehow blame Fury. Even though Whyte is getting EIGHT TIMES what Fury got when challenging Klitschko. The mind boggles...
He will sign.
Whether it's before that date, I don't know. The arbitration date is after it, so it's all a bit of a mess. Really, the lawyers will be working out whether it's best to sign before the date or force the date back due to the arbitration.
