Dude gets a lot of hate because he gets all the cars and ladies, but one can’t deny he is one of this generation’s finest boxers who brought excitement in every fight.

British Boxing HOF no doubt, one of the best ever to come from the UK amateur or pro, helped continue funding in Amateur Boxing in his country after the silver medal win which led to further success at the Olympics in 08 and 12.
His losses are always highlighted but, they came against KO artists mostly but lets see:
Prescott - Came early in his career and he was completely written off. Khan displayed great mental strength to bounce back by beating Barrera and then in just under a year after that loss, in his first fight at 140 lb - became world champion. For a guy seen as chinny I felt he silenced his critics there and it couldn’t have been more emphasised by the Maidana performance, a guy who gave Floyd life and death.
Peterson - Daylight robbery, controversial loss.
Garcia - This is by far the worst defeat of his career at his peak, it should have been an easy points win but he got sparked.
Canelo - He was expected to get beaten at this point, so criticisms to defeat a guy 2 divisions above him was harsh, even more so when there was no rehydration clause, but he gave a good account of himself in defeat and showed his world class boxing pedigree, it says something to compete with the elite
Crawford - He was shot at this point, lost his legs underneath him and was outclassed, I think Crawford gives him issues even in his prime
Then there are impressive victories over world class fighters / former champions such as Barrera, Kotelnik, Paulie, Maidana, Zab Judah, Collazo and Devon Alexander - majority of these fighters were ranked in the top 5/10 of the division at the time so the wins deserve big respect and Khan has always been involved in exciting fights win or lose and fought whoever was willing.
A criticism would be, he chased Floyd overly and even let go of a world title shot against Alexander who he’d end up beating later and while his punch resistance was suspect, many fighters were not willing to take a risk against him even if the numbers made sense including Tim Bradley, Floyd, Marquez and Eric Morales - unfortunately for Khan, they hurt his case for HOF a bit because a win over Bradley, Marquez or Floyd would have secured his place in the HOF, don’t get me wrong you can still make a case but to cement it he needs one more win against either a top 5/10 fighter in a division or someone considered a puncher / favourite to bust him up
First ballot HOF. It’s an insult to suggest otherwise. Why are we even debating it? The GOAT in boxing history. He has defeated the likes of Sugar Ray Robinson, Leonard, Duran, Hearn, Hagler, etc……He’s ****ing immortal. He has had the longest prime in sports history. Long live, Amir GOAT Khan.
If any dictionary is looking to compile an entry on a straw man argument, look no further. I genuinely do not think Khan should end up in the boxing HOF, despite having a strong record, by the way, but it should be stressed that ol' glass jaw has lost just 5 times over the better part of 20 years. Included in those losses is an insanely questionable decision to proven drug cheat Lamont Peterson, a kind of wimp-out to p4p contender Crawford and a big KO against the other p4p contender Canleo, who was the naturally bigger fighter. It's not a bad record, but as I say, he doesn't deserve the HOF.
Nevertheless, I am curious as to which other fighter would stand up to your criteria of having defeated the likes of SRR, Leonard, Duran, Hearn Hagler, etc?
If the answer is: it wasn't meant to be taken seriously, btw, then why write it?

He’s a decent fighter. Most notable to me is a Silver medalist but he’s no Pac, Mayweather, Canelo, Cotto, Delahoya or Mosley.

Yes he should. For those KO reels that he has provided of himself getting starched. Wobbling to victory against Maidana and getting out hustled by Peterson is not Hall of Fame material but he has bought excitement to the sport.
Never disliked him but some of his hardcore fans make him more than what he is.

Avoided by floyd jotted down as an accolade ,I thought you were clutching at straws when I saw mccloskeys name but I laughed when I read the floyd thing
When you have to list Kotelnik and malignaggi as justification for getting into the hof, you know you're clutching at straws.
Both good fighters, so I'll agree to disagree.
With that to one side, I've said multiple times that he is not HOF...you dense p r i c k
Maidana, Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Judah were all at 140. Should have got the nod over Peterson. Swift stopped the run, but it was a hell of a run.
He made more than a solid start at 47, with dominant wins vs Collazo and Alexander, then looked average against Algieri in a W.
The problem is after that point, instead of going for one of the belt holders at 47, he went for Canelo and that knockout pretty much finished his career at top level.
He's not as far away as you think but agree that he isn't HOF
I agree he should have gotten the nod over Peterson. Malignaggi has never been anything special and Zab was well...Zab. His problem is having a name in himself but not producing anything after 140. Technically he left 140 after the Molina fight nobody remembers, but he got starched by Garcia which is the lasting memory of 140. Unfortunately, he didn't do anything at 147 outside of beating guys that never really did anything at 147 themselves. Had he won a title at 147 I'd say he gets in but the last 7-8 years of his career above 140 doesn't have a standout name or even a champ
