Can somebody plz provide me with a link to the WBC website page that describes the meaning and merit of the Franchise belt.
I've looked and looked all over the Internet and there is nothing about it being won in the ring, exchanged between winner and loser. Every article, every explanation just states that the WBC bestow this thing as an honoury designation.
I can't find anything that states it as an actual WORLD TITLE.
I thought over a year ago Suleiman said the Franchise Title cannot be won meaning that if Teofimo beat Loma (which he did) the "Franchise Title" would not be passed along like a real title. So yeah it is confusing AF! I'm sure The WBC have a number you can call, these are questions only they can answer not FANS!

It doesn't even exist. Boxing is so corrupt man which is why the 2028 Summer Olympics Games; Which are slated for the U.S. To take place in Los Angeles are going to scrap the entire program from its list of events due to corruption of the sport.
This Lightweight mess is just ridiculous. I feel that Teo deserved to be seen as Undisputed as he beat Loma and now Kambosos has beat Teo.
But Loma and Bob gave up that WBC belt and take Franchise rather than face Devin Haney, Haney was ready and wanted to fight Loma for that belt, he didn't ask to be given it he asked to fight for it.
I've always valued the WBC belt highly and we all agreed as one when Franchise was 1st mentioned that it was a joke belt whose only purpose was to rake in more sanctioning fees, yet here we are.
Best case scenario is for Morris to fkk that whole franchise crap out the sport and forget he ever did it. 2nd best case scenario is to immediately match up Kambosos v Haney and just get this chit straightened out. Worst case scenario is just to leave hanging as a joke and a mess just as it is right now..
Where we are right now is the full WBC title at 135 is a lesser belt than the exact same full WBC title in every other division. Even though Sillyman says it is the same it is a requirement for undisputed at every other weight but franchise is the belt that has fulfilled it at 135.
Useless to us the fans but not to the WBC
Yes , it’s given away but afterwards you pay sanctioning fees
Kind of the same chit as the WBA did with it’s « super « status
Some more goodies of this bogus belt:
The Franchise Champion designation is awarded exclusively by the World Boxing Council and considers the following mutual agreements between the WBC, the champion and his promoter
1. The Franchise Champion designation is exclusively by appointment of the WBC Board of Governors by a majority vote of the board.
2. This designation is not transferable and is exclusively to the fighter who receives such designation.
3. The Franchise Champion will be designated as WBC Emeritus Champion once he retires from boxing.
4. The Franchise Champion will proudly represent the WBC in every single fight as a reigning WBC champion, regardless of any specific conditions or titles being associated with all future fights. WBC rules and regulations will govern under the traditional conditions of boxing in the Franchise champion fights. WBC will approve through the franchise champion promoter every opponent scheduled to fight.
5. Franchise Champion agrees to participate in a minimum of two social responsibility events every year, organized and in conjunction with the WBC.
6. The WBC may recognize a WBC champion in the division or divisions where the Franchise champion currently competes. (Clearly stating that the other champion is the real champion i.e. Haney)
7. The WBC may award a Diamond Championship belt in those fights in which the Franchise Champion engages. If the Franchise Champion loses, the winner will receive the Diamond belt and may be considered as mandatory contender of the division.
I mean... So much BS. They haven't even stuck to the non transferable thing because they want the money from it!
Bogus.
'The designation of franchise champion will allow him to comply with such priorities without putting his status of WBC world champion in jeopardy.'
'The franchise champion will enjoy the privilege of not engaging in mandatory matchups and holding multiple titles. This also allows the fighter to compete in cross-body title clashes regardless of the weight class.'
'It causes confusion. Of course, it causes confusion' - Mauricio Sualiman
Ignore this bogus belt.

That's because the WBC has been making it up as they go along, but at this point it's definitely a world title. Teofimo went online and showed the official sanctioning certificates from the Lomachenko fight and it was sanctioned as a world title fight by the WBC for the "WBC Lightweight Franchise World Title."
