Well, he at least tried to get the belt legitimately by putting himself in position to be #1 contender to Lomachenko.
Seems to me more of the disrespect that Haney is getting should be directed towards Lomachenko's team for dropping the belt and freezing Devin out of the picture entirely.
- - Seems U and he ought be suing U Daddies fer making U sissies.
The WBA super nonsense is not seen as normal anymore, the Association of Boxing Commissions finally told them to clean up their act. Hopefully the ABC will focus on the WBC sometime soon as well.
Yes, it's true that Haney didn't win his title. But this is what everyone seems to be turning into the main narrative out of all this, which is wrong. The negative energy that Devin has received should be equally directed to Top Rank and the WBC but I don't see that happening. Which I why I speak on it.
Well I don't know, it's been considered normal for years.
I don't agree with Top Rank's nonsense either. Or the WBC's.
And it's no fault of Haney that he has a fake belt. But that doesn't stop the belt being fake.
I'd be suprised if there's barely anyone who agrees with the WBC Franchise nonsense. But that's Boxing, they've been slowly but surely adding belts since the 1970's. Not the first won't be the last. The WBA Super nonsense was the same thing, today it's accetped as normal. It's no different.
None of this is relevant.
Did Haney win his title? No. Therefore he's not a real champion.
The who, what's, why's and if's don't make any difference to that fact.
It's not fair, but life isn't fair unfortunately.
Floyd was a 13 time world champion and I don't think had a single mandaotry defense in his entire career. Manny Pacquaio similar if not the same.
That's boxing.

I would argue that the fact that Top Rank completely froze Haney out matters just as much, if not more. By asking for Franchise Champion status they ensured that Devin can never force a fight against Lomachenko, or Teofimo, or now Kambosos.
But one rarely sees the same energy directed towards Top Rank that is directed towards Haney.

I don't care who's fault it is mate. He tried to fight Lomachenko, I get that. But he didn't.
You don't get to be a champion because someone didn't fight you.
Call it disrespect, call it whatever, I don't care. All that matters is the fact that Devin Haney is not a real world champion.

Yeah, but it was through no fault on Haney's part. He did what he was supposed to do for "realness" and legitimacy in going the Lomachenko route.
That's why in my original post I said that it annoys me that Haney is bring disrespected for this.

People dodge mandatories when it's a position of power, that's modern day boxing.
Floyd fought how many mandatories in his career? I don't even like the idea of mandatories in the first place.
Lomachenko deserves to be criticized for accepting the Franchise nonsense.
None of it changes the fact that Haney's belt is as far away from "real" as could be.

He is the WBC world champion. That’s all the WBC owe him, other than the usual ‘rights’ a boxer has (appeals, etc). If the WBC create another separate championship, that’s none of Haney’s business. He was happy to accept at the time knowing the situation, and that’s the easiest and probably most solid defence the WBC will have

No. Devin Haney cannot sue... yet.
I'm reading people's posts and I see there's a lot of confusion and misinformation. Misinformation that is being repeated so much, people are starting to believe it.
As of rightnow, Haney is the true WBC champion. The WBC belt Kambosos holds is the "Franchise" version which is a mickeymouse belt that isnt recognized by anyone.
Therefore, Devin has no case because all Mauricio Sulaiman said was "...Kambosos should be undisputed.."
The word "should" is what's saving him from a lawsuit. Had he said "Kambosos IS undisputed" and made it official on the organization's website, then Haney would have a case.
So as it stands rightnow, no damage has been done to Haney's status as the real WBC champion. No lawsuit is warranted.
The reason's irrelevant, The fact of the matter is Haney's belt is not legitimate. It's not a real world title.
The WBC is obviously the root of the problem, but that doesn't change the fact that Haney's "belt" is as fake as it gets.

If not blamed then he's certainly being disrespected for it.
They gave Haney a fake belt because Top Rank didn't want to have him hanging around as the mandatory to either Lomachenko or Teofimo Lopez.

Who’s blaming him?
It’s not his fault the WBC “elevated” their Champion with a new belt and then gave Haney a fake one. But that doesn’t change the fact that that happened.

It annoys me that Haney is the one being disrespected and blamed for this.
Not Lomachenko's team or the WBC.

How could he fight for it when the WBC champion Lomachencko wouldn't fight his mandatory that was Haney? The franchise belt to avoid mandatories is every bit as fake as Haney's belt.
I didn’t say he could or couldn’t. And I didn’t say the Franchise belt isn’t a joke either.
Both are irrelevant, Haney’s “belt” is worthless.
before kambosos or Lopez were "wbc champions" Haney was the champ by the WBC and the ring magazine.
Ring Magazine is owned by Golden Boy Promotions and is one of many media outlets on DAZN's payroll that is pretending Kambosos isn't undisputed champion to try to force Kambosos to fight Haney on DAZN.
At no point was Tank ever listed as a wba 135 lb champ on the ring website or in the magazine.
Ring Magazine isn't in charge of boxing and doesn't decide who the WBA world champion is. This is another example of you changing the subject to try to distract from how inconsistent you're being.
What's is inconsistent about that? I have all the ring mags dating back for years. at no point was Tank ever listed as a lw champ in it or on the site. Haney was listed as the WBC champ in the mag and on the WBC website. Lopez was never listed as the WBC champ in the ring mag or on the site. Am I right or wrong? A simple yes or no will do. If I'm lying, point to the part of my post that is wrong.
You're not lying, but you're not making any sense either. The WBA decides who their top champion is and publishes their decision in their ratings. The WBC decides who their top champion is and publishes their decision in their ratings. Ring Magazine has nothing to do with anything being discussed.
The WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO all say George Kambosos is their top world champion, therefore he's the undisputed world champion. Tank & Haney have secondary titles.
You changed the subject seven times in three sentences to try to distract from how inconsistent you're being.
Tank & Haney = secondary world champions
Kambosos = top world champion of all four orgs and therefore undisputed.

why not, when they actually made him the champion at the request of Lomachenko to keep from fighting him? AND THEN was charging him fees as champ. At no point did the Ring magazine ever recognize Tank as a 135 or 140 lb champ. ****, he didn't even recognize himself as such lol. He knew it was bs. This franchise bs is something they created on the fly under about 2 years ago and THEY can't even explain it. We know the WBA is fos with their 8 titles per weight class.

Lmao wtf. I like Haney. I like you too. Merry Christmas bruhOk, then fine boss; We good! The only reason why i asked because he has been avoiding me. In any case, here's wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as well.
