After analyzing several of his fights, I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s a good well-rounded boxer who has the versatility to adapt to any style, but he does have some flaws that can be exploited.
I think in order to beat him, you’d have to be able to match his fighting pace, excellent at dictating range and distance, being defensively responsible and with good timing and counter-punching skills. In other words, a master sharp-shooter would give him fits. I don’t think Spence is good enough to beat him.
Be smarter/better. Crawford is an all-rounder, that means when he finds something isn’t working, he’ll take another route. You can’t counter that unless you can outsmart and outfight him in those other areas.
Or easy answer: KO him.
You’re describing how FLOYD would beat Terence
I don’t think a fighter must be Floyd to beat Terence
Terence can’t really fight inside from what I seen
a pressure guy around his level who could take his shots gets a win imo
I had it 5-4 for Terence in his last fight
pressure can be an effective way to fight him
We’ll see. I’m just not sold that Errol is the guy who will do it. Errol has no special effects. Very methodical, and throws slow telegraph punches. Crawford will be able to set the table and eat first.
Work behind the jab and fight him on the inside. Crawford pulls back from punches a LOT. He’s able to get away with it due to his long arms for his height. His power comes from leverage he gets at distance. Let’s not forget he was being outboxed by Gamboa regardless of what Arum’s cards stated. When Mean Machine dropped him it was on the inside.
Errol Spence
Terence can make adjustments but he's no Floyd
JLC Cotto & Maidana all pressured Floyd and gave him that work. They weren't known for having the versatility to adapt to any style
Errol has the jab to box with Terence if need be. And the pressure to fight Terence at closer quarters
We don’t know how well Spence can take a shot at this point. He might be completely diminished in terms of durability at this point. Spence is too patiently slow. You have to be a like snipper against Crawford. Can’t have him setting up and loading his shots, gotta potshot him halfway and pivot out to disrupt him. I don’t think Spence has that extra gear.
Hes well rounded but hes been getting hit a lot lately. I dont remember if he got hit as often years back. I remember gamboa landing on him though. So his defense is not elite level, he is just well rounded and for sloppy fighters that dont think before they throw then his defense will look pretty damn good, like the Horn fight, crawford used simple lateral movement to turn/sidestep and counter horn when he came in. Porter is a smarter fighter than horn so he found that overhand right than landed.
Crawford could either be outworked inside or outboxed, its just being so well rounded it would take an elite fighter to do it. Hes got long range but doesnt use it really, 74", but hes also good inside fighter and fights coming forward, moving backwards, lateral movement, ect.
Porter is the best welter hes faced, there are a lot of welters in the last 20 years who are better who could do more.
Kavalisukas landed 100 punches on hum
Crawford landed 128
Porter landed 76
Crawford landed 79
Crawford has a overhyped defense
He needs fights against an élite fighter for first time un his career
If Spence can land some Big like Gamboa, or Kavalisukas did... I want to see that.
Nah, porter went for broke from the start and to fight the type of fight porter went with you need to have things in you that cant be taught like a chin, toughness and determination along with stamina and heart.
Not everyone can fight that type of fight . You have to take to give ,and when you gibe you take . Its a very tough style to use to get those type of numbers.
Porter had the idea, he just didnt have the power .
Another way is to have good height reach and footwork to go with an elite jab . An oscar de la hoya type or tommy hearns type .
They also need to be able to push Crawford back and know how to fight south and orthodox styles.
I think you're right about Spence. I don't think he can make all the adjustments on the fly during the fight, but he does have pop and a chin so.. We'll see what happens if this fight ever takes place.
If only we could make Crawford vs Canelo. Canelo definitely has everything needed to beat Crawford.
Think that's a bit much as there's a couple of fighters that can beat Crawford between 140-54 let alone 160,168. Taylor,Spence,Vergil,Boots,Castano,Mell...all are skilled enough to beat Crawford, let alone Canelo. They all have thier own attributes skill, work rate, size, effective pressure etc that can/will give Crawford a tough challenge.

It’s not that simple though. Spence has a blue collar style. He’s very methodical, not explosive and fast. Crawford will be able to beat him to the punch even if Spence manage to force him to fight him on the inside. Ennis is realistically the only one who has the physical tools to get it done, but he’s still an unproven prospect.
Welterweight is trash right now except Spence.
In 154 Crawford Will Lost against Castaño, Charlo or Tzyu.
I disagree, Spence is fully capable of beating him. Bud has dropped so many rounds to lesser fighters but his power has always bailed him out. I could see Spence beating him in a workman like decision while Bud desperately tries to find the KO that won’t be there and he keeps eating leather from Errol.
Exactly.

I would say a style like Maidana or Canelo.
Only Canelo. Maidana can’t take body shots. Crawford would punish him with body shots, but I do think Maidana would catch him multiple times with a few of those wild awkward overhand rights of his.

Like a welterweight version of Holyfield vs Tyson. One looking for a knockout that isn’t there, the other grinding him down with non-stop pressure and hard punches.
High boxing IQ/ ability to adjust
Comparable reach. Doesn’t have to be equal but nothing more than 2 inches deficit.
Outstanding punch resistance and chin.
Steady footwork.
Ability to fight on the inside particularly with good mix of body shots.
Legitimate knockout power.
Calm demeanor that doesn’t get anxious or overwhelmed throughout the fight.
That’s what it will take to beat Crawford imo.
He’s better than I thought and more than just a power happy fighter. But he has clear weaknesses. If you take away his great equalizer and have the above, he can be beaten certainly.
- -Craw ain't fought a prime puncher, the reason he keeps pricing himself out of a Spence fight.
Now that Spence carries permanent injuries from his Ferrari demolition, prob he'll outpoint Ugh for the WBO and defend against a decent contender and ride off into the sunset with fortune, health, and record intact.
Compare Craw gift from Porter's Daddy compared to Teo's gift from his Daddy for relevance.
