fan wise...... i noticed that Fury seems more popular than Wlad back when Wlad was champ on here and other boxing forums...
hypocritical? Wlad was criticized on here for being "boring" and just big, but yet Fury is bigger than Wlad but doesn't get the same amount of criticism?
Wlad was dead in America, his early WBO title fights were in Vegas and nobody cared, granted it was against a nobody in Shufford and PED abusing McCline but all of his better profile fights were in Europe.
If Wlad had any US popularity he would have fought in the US because that's where the best money is(unless Arabs go nuts and burn oil money).
Fury isn't popular. People will watch his fights...but they really couldn't give a rats about him outside of that. As much as I hate to say it...AJ is popular. He has endorsement deals...chat show and game show appearances. Red carpet events etc. Fury just goes off to the club and gets smashed with scrubbers. Nobody wants him as a brand ambassador because in real life he's an ******* who won't bring sales....PPV or otherwise.
AJ is possibly more popular in the UK but not elsewhere. Fury came here to overtake the best American boxer in three huge PPVs. AJ got sent packing and humiliated against fatty Ruiz in his only attempt at fighting at the Mecca of boxing.

- -Been noticing U be broke with all U bounced checks floating around.
Blubber Fury more popular than Deyonce. He fled England, AJ, and the Wlad rematch to become the Big Plop in a small pond of Deyonce's WBC girdle.
When U gonna stop bouncing and running up debts?

Wlad was the worst thing to happen to heavyweight boxing, his style literally killed the division. We should all be thankful that Fury put an end to that, even though that was a dreadful fight itself since Wlad was terrified of someone his size. He was effective though I will give him that.
Fury is light years more popular in the US, not sure about Europe.
Exactly. You can't answer the facts that I put out there because it hurts your claim.
1 title defense
No mandatory defenses
1 steroids conviction
2 good names on his entire record.
currently ducking his mandatory
Not even close to being on pair with either Klitschko
None of that has anything to do with popularity. :lol1:
Which is the topic of this thread.
Title defenses aren't an indicator of popularity. PPV sales, on the other hand, are.
Not in Europe, and especially not during the time of the Klitschko reign. PPV is just something that doesn't really fly in Europe as a concept (excluding the UK I guess). All (or almost all; don't remember) Klitschko fights were broadcast on German and other European free TV. So PPV sales are not a valid metric of comparsion here. Klitchko was (and still is to some extent) a household name, even among people that never watched a single fight.
But I do not doubt any minute that Fury is more popular in the US than either Klitschko ever was. He is the kind of loudmouthed guy that Americans love. In Germany on the other hand, the "gentleman boxer" concept works better - I will never forget the love and attention Henry Maske got...
No.
Wladimir used to sell out massive stadiums in Germany and his PPV numbers are insane.
Love him or hate him, Fury can't draw flies to ****.
Are they?...that is news to me. I think Haye and Joshua were by far his biggest numbers and that had a lot to do with the opposing fighter. Fury has well surpassed him now, if he was to fight Joshua - they would smash those numbers to pieces.
Fury - Whyte might beat them tbh - just off the fact that Fury hasn't fought a big fight in the UK for years. The traction he has in the US Klitschko never got close to, and the German Market doesn't compare to the US/UK
Yes, and Fury has only a couple to his credit. But again, tell me how someone who is as "popular" as Fury could only have 5k in ticket sales for a fight here in America? And many of them given away for free. Can you answer that? Or will you change the subject like a female?
That was several fights ago. Fury has raised his profile since then.
Check out the gate for his last fight. And compare his PPV numbers in America to Klitschko's. The cold, hard numbers tell the tale.
Possibly, he's not the fighter a prime wlad was but he sells a fight real good and turned the corner in the public eye from where he was made a villain from old tweets and had a dark past through drugs tests to ambassador for mental health.
In america yes! especially after he beat down wilder multiple times. hell fury was getting cheers against wilder. wilder the american was getting booed at home!!!
Fury Wilder 3 didn't even sell out. that's because fury had already beaten the dog sh!t out of wilder twice beforehand! wilder and al gaymon pushed for that third ass whooping!
"Fury-Schwarz Bout at MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday Draws 5,489 Tickets Sold and 1,187 Comps"
As much as a lot of you want to make Fury into an unbeatable, KO machine that fills the arena. He is not even close. And I was no Klitschko fan but Wlad sold out arenas and had big PPV numbers too. Fury has 1 title defense and is currently trying to get out of a mandatory. He is a clown and a fraud
What were the Fury-Wilder 2 gate numbers???
He is with Americans
Fury personality is more compatible with Americans
This.
I feel Fury is more popular in America than Wlad was. People tune into Fury now. He's a boxer that people (casual or not) know in America now.
