Tim Bradley is ripping on Canelo for going up to cruiserweight to fight an “unknown” fighter.
https://www.boxingnews24.com/2021/11...m=facebook&
Tim Bradley ducked Amir Khan when Khan was the #2 rated fighter at 140 by The Ring, behind #1 ranked Bradley.
Bradley’s response to Khan calling him out:
“If I Lose To Amir Khan I'm Out Of Mayweather / Pacquiao Sweepstakes"
Bradley legitimately ducked Khan due to his concerns of not being able to win. Out of his own mouth, he found Khan too risky at the time. This is actually a duck. Like, it does not get more clearer than that. He refused to fight Khan and instead fought the older, past prime, and ready to retire, Joel Casamayor.
If Canelo, who Bradley is sh/tting on, ducked Trout and Canelo’s reason was: “I don’t want to fight Trout because if he beats me, I don’t get the Mayweather fight.” Canelo would never live that down.
Or if Canelo publicly states: “I can’t fight Lara because if I lose, I would lose out on fighting Miguel Cotto.”
Canelo has bigger balls than Bradley, clearly. Canelo has an amazing resume that dwarfs Bradley’s resume. If Canelo would have pulled such a b/tch move like Bradley did with Khan, Canelo would been killed by the media and his critics. He already is, even now, despite him fighting everyone he had to fight.

No he didn't. Many in the media believed Bradley won. I believed he won too. It wasn't controversial.
But if you believe in your heart of hearts that it was a gift then you must believe that Canelo's wins against Lara and GGG were gifts too?
- Bermuda
Facts the Canelo fans try to tell you that context and circumstances don't matter when they act like the Lara, GGG, Kovalev, all those wins were legit, but with a straight face try and tell you that Bradley didn't beat Pacman or JMM. Crazy double standards.
Canelo fans, I thought the only thing that matters for resume was NAME? And how you beat them doesn't matter, that the only thing that matters are what the 3 judges at ringside say?? Using the rules YOU created, Pacman and JMM are better resume building wins than GGG, Jacobs, any of them. Point blank period. You created these rules, you don't get to change them when it's convenient for you.
What do you think about Pacquiao's win against David Diaz (Top 3 ranked Lightweight, WBC champion)?
- Bermuda
David Diaz was actually #2, not #3.
And it was a solid win especially as he was moving up in weight (1 weight class not 2)
A lot of people weren’t sure if Pacquaio was going to win that fight, considering.
“Most Canelo casuals had probably never heard of Makabu until last week.”
I have enough time posting here to know that this is really code for:
“I did not know who Makabu was until last week. Therefore, I doubt anyone else knew who he was.”
Anyone who’s had an account here for at least 7 years or so, and follows rbr threads while watching fights, will know who Makabu is. As Makabu is the first fighter to stop Glen Johnson since Bernard Hopkins. Albeit an old, way past prime Glen Johnson.
I knew who Makabu was even before Bellew flattened him. I’d bet you could find posts of mine from years ago mentioning him. Definitely from before they fought.
Most Canelo casuals had probably never heard of Makabu until last week.
the guy is no good. He has absolutely no boxing coordination. Bellew used to fight at 175 and walked through him like he was nothing when he decided to turn it into a fight.
I’ve got no real problem with the fight per se, simply because I don’t expect him to jump that far and fight Briedis. But people need to stop acting like Makabu is great champ and challenge, He would get smoked by the other champions in his division like he did with Bellew. He’s got a belt by winning a vacant title at the second attempt.
There’s far bigger challenges than Makabu, even at 168 and 175. Makabu being bigger than that isn’t relevant, yeah he’s bigger than that but there’s levels too. Makabu is not a real world class fighter, despite winning a vacant title.

spot on. when theres 5 or 6 realistic fights that could be made and are more attractive to the fans and would have closer odds, how is picking this guy not a cherry pick? what fans were asking for canelo to fight mugabwu after the plant fight? absolute none. the only time he fought a fighter who anyone has heard of he got took out in 3 rounds by tony bellew. i dont understand why canelos loser fans and dumb casuals on here are making out hes taking on the challenge of the century, wow mugabwu is big, so what. i guess david haye is now an ATG then, he beat valuev who was a lot bigger and a champ. if you arent a canelo fanboy and think him beating up some big stiff is impressive just cause they are bigger, go find another sport to comment on

Bradley pretended he was winning rounds by raising his arms after every round. In reality, JMM outlanded Bradley in power shots in more rounds. Bradley was just jabbing all night, nothing else. Only one of the threw judges saw through Bradley’s BS and gave the fight to JMM.
It’s quite easy to see now who just dislikes Canelo and who is actually giving a level headed critique.
I wasn’t a big fan of Canelo after how he handled 155 and everything with Golovkin. But I don’t see how anyone can criticise him at the moment, the past 12 months he tore super middle a new arsehole.
Dude has done more than anyone recently, he’s finally got the Mayweather treatment where people only want him to fight X and Y because they want him to lose, and the more he keeps winning the more the goalposts move.
Imagine when he’d just finished fighting GGG and someone said “he’d better fight Beterbiev or Bivol or he’s ducking” :lol1: but that’s literally where we are now.
It’s absolutely nuts.
There is no top 5 fighter from 168-199lbs, right now, who would get accused of cherrypicking Makabu at cruiser.
What do you think fans would say if:
Breidis
Dorticos
Okolie
Benavidez
Plant
Beterbiev
Joe Smith Jr
Bivol
Jack
Are the one’s going up to Cruiserweight May 2022 to fight Makabu?
For the 168-175 guys, it would be a career-defining fight if they win. For Breidis, Dorticos and Okolie, it would be a Cruiserweight-legacy-enhancing fight. One of their best names.
How would Canelo critics treat Breidis vs Makabu? Ring Champion vs Ring #2. They would praise Breidis for “fighting the best”.
But for Canelo, it’s a cherrypick :lol1:

It's a ridiculous notion.
A fighter moving up 2 weight classes, 40 lbs give or take, to fight the #2 guy at the weight class and it be labelled a cherry pick.
Never seen anything so ridiculous in my life.
Andrade just did an interview with IFLTV where he said "Canelo is fighting nobodies"
Andrade is yet to fight a single Top 5 ranked fighter in his entire career and he's 33 years old and has been a pro for over a decade.
It’s quite easy to see now who just dislikes Canelo and who is actually giving a level headed critique.

Bradley got gift decisions over a past prime JMM.

Tim Bradley's resume destroy's Canelo's all day. But that's not the point, he is an ANALYST he is paid to ANALYZE and speak big facts. That is exactly what he did here. Fighting Makabu is a bs fight that the fans don't want. The facts are that he doesn't want any part of Andrade, Charlo or Benavidez, Canelo's fans can make up all sorts of excuses about how Andrade and Charlo need to fight each other, but when you are the face of boxing you get held to the highest standards, that's why this is a duck.
Man stop it.
Bradley got gift decisions over Pacquiao and a past prime JMM. Bradley was outworked in power punches in more rounds, vs JMM. The fight was at worst, a Draw. JMM landed the better shots in more rounds. He got a gift win. You think Bradley has failed to make into the HOF because he has so much competition? No, his resume is weak.
And he literally ducked Amir Khan. “If I lose to Khan, i’ll lose out on the Mayweather/Pacquiao sweepstakes.” That’s an actual duck. A duck is when a fighter is concerned of losing to another fighter, so he avoids him. That is exactly what Tim Bradley did. No rumors, no trash talking, no false accusations from fans, no trolling. Bradley avoided Khan because he was literally concerned of losing to him. He expressed his concern himself. It was not twisted. He was quoted saying this. He was not confident he could win, so he ducked Khan. #1 guy at 140, turned down the #2 guy at 140 because he did not know if he could win.
Pacquiao straight up outworked Bradley. Beat him 3 times really.
Canelo has never been outworked in power punches in more rounds, by any fighter.
And Canelo’s resume sh/ts all over Bradley’s. Canelo fighting GGG, Jacobs, Cotto is like if Bradley went up to 154 to fight Canelo, Lara, Charlo. But they were seen as too big for him.
Canelo fighting at 168, fighting Callum Smith, BJS, Plant, would be like Bradley fighting at 160.
Forget about Light Heavyweight vs Kovalev, and Cruiserweight vs Makabu. Bradley would not dare step foot in the ring with Amir Khan at 140, let along fight GGG at 160, or “cherrypick” James DeGale at 168.
Canelo Alvarez is the only active fighter from 160-199lbs, who would be seen as cherrypicking The Ring #2 Cruiserweight and WBC champion. It’s only a cherrypick for Canelo. Literally no one else.
Breidis, Dorticos, Okolie vs Makabu, would be seen as good, competitive fights vs top 4 fighters. Breidis would be praised for the win, enhancing his CW run/legacy.
Beterbiev, Bivol, Smith Jr, Badou Jack, Eleider Alvarez vs Makabu at CW, would be seen as the biggest fight, highest risk taken of their career to date. A career defining win if they are successful.
Benavidez, Plant, Saunders vs Makabu at CW, most dangerous fight of their life. Biggest risk in their career to date. More dangerous than Canelo.
But for Canelo, it’s a cherrypick. That’s how great he is in your eyes. You look up to him. Canelo’s resume if the Gold standard of boxing right now. Canelo will be used as a measuring stick after he retires. Like the greats before him. SRL, Ali, Duran, Jones, Chavez, Mayweather, Pacquiao. Canelo’s career will be looked at to measure future fighters.
Canelo will also not have any issues being a first ballot Hall of Famer, unlike Bradley. This guy “beat” Pacquiao and JMM, but can’t get into the HOF yet. Twice in a row, failed to make it. That’s because of his ducking of Khan, his gift decisions, and the way he and his wife did Joel Diaz so dirty. Writers are getting back at Bradley for all the BS he pulled.
Canelo started his career at 140. He's 5 ft 7.
Fighting the #2 guy at Crusierweight is ridiculous.
Makabu is a very good fighter anyway regardless. He'd be a good win for Bredis or Dorticos. He'd be an exceptional win for Okolie. He'd have been a good win for Usyk too when he was Champion there.
Yet for a Super Middleweight it's a cherry pick :lol1: Ridiculous.
What do you think about Pacquiao's win against David Diaz (Top 3 ranked Lightweight, WBC champion)?
- Bermuda
Did Bradley say anything wrong? He is absolutely right! Moving up, cherrypicking and defeating only paper champions ain't doing shit to me! Just fight the best champion in each weight division if you are going to constantly do that shit! The very scary and cowardly motherfucker; Who hasn't fought a dangerous undefeated opponent since GGG four years ago.
The fcuk he aint. Im a boxing fan, not a fanboy. I need the best to fight the best, minus weak mandos.
How do you get around mandos without step aside money, leaving the div or giving up belts ?

I doubt either dominate him but I doubt Okolie even beats him.
It depends how Breidis is aging, but everyone that has watched the fight with Usyk knows just how supremely skilled Breidis is. He is slick, crisp, and very very technically on point. Its really debatable if Usyk won that fight or not, it was razor razor thin.

i agree but them two beat some great opponents, thats the only guy of note makubwa has fought and he was demolished
Makubu vs Canelo
Is like Crawford vs Munguía or Gabe Rosado.
Stop, it's too much risk.
i agree but them two beat some great opponents, thats the only guy of note makubwa has fought and he was demolished
In all the lists, the african champion is in the top-3.
He is a legit champion, he is heavier than Canelo, way heavier.
