Whyte can get a Fury fight if he lowers his demand to 80-20 or maybe negotiate it to 75-25 which would be quite fair. Anything higher, and his entire luck hangs on that arbitration. If it gets delayed sufficiently, Fury may still be able to fight the winner of Joshua/Usyk. If Whyte can fake an injury, what would prevent Fury from one? or getting another Covid? Later on, the unification can have precedence over the mandatory.
Whyte already has a lost opportunity in fighting Joshua voluntarily. He shouldn't waste another one and negotiate a better split for the rematch clause. It is hard to believe that Fury will agree to a 55-45 split and WBC may not want to lose Fury.
The WBC rules state a winner over a mandatory takes over that position the day of winning . So Hearn is correct legally unless the WBC conjures up loopholes as it usually ends up doing what they decide .
Povetkin was never called as mandatory though.
having the WBC interim doesn’t make you mandatory automatically. It has to be called by the WBC, which Povetkin never was, so Whyte was never automatically reinstated as mandatory. The WBC were clearly stating it earlier this year but Eddie was telling people otherwise.
It's sad to see people celebrating corruption.
I think it’s more the fact he faked injury to get out of the Wallin fight, thinking he’s getting some huge payday and shot at Fury…
Then it turns out he’s not mandatory and looking at a 20% split if he does get the fight. That’s quite funny. The WBC said earlier this year that he doesn’t automatically get reinstated as mandatory because he went 1-1 with Povetkin, but Eddie has been running around in his loafers telling everyone Whyte is mandatory.
he did fake injury too. He supposedly had a shoulder operation but they said he can resume full training in 6 weeks? Highly unlikely.
People complain in boxing about fighters not wanting to fight each other, Dillian Whyte is a fighter who wants to fight the big fights contrary to popular belief. Yes he did not fight Anthony Joshua for the second time around, but that was because 'He was starting to think he was bigger than he was, and wanting a bigger build up to their rematch'.
I find it really strange the way people are celebrating this news, especially Tyson Fury's hardcore fans. I wonder now who Tyson Fury is going to face? I think he can only really be facing ether Dillian Whyte or Joe Joyce.
Tyson Fury for me in his last fight showed that he was for sure a regressed fighter. Yes Deontay Wilder is aggressive and game, but technically he struggles to produce a offense with variation, and he telegraphs his punches. Still Wilder was able to find and hit Tyson Fury in every single round of their 3rd fight.
I don't think there are any easy fights from this point on wards for Tyson Fury as a champion. Kronk Fury is not peak Fury, in some ways he is better 'But in other ways he is a regressed fighter'.
I am still hopeful that Dillian Whyte gets his title fight against Tyson Fury, surely Eddie Hearn has more political power than he is currently showing.
Note: Tyson Fury is contradicting himself, he stated that Whyte was a dosser an a easy fight. So I have no idea why he clearly does not want to face him? When Whyte is the biggest home coming fight for him to make. The fight has everything chemically, and in terms of the theme which surrounds it 'It is show business'.

Whyte must have made more than $300k from the Povetkin rematch
Both fights were ok UK PPV and the first fight was Matchroom's first PPV since the Covid lockdown so it did solid numbers.
The rematch had alot of intrigue too. Villegas is off with his numbers.
Just like Ortiz he should have taken the deal to fight AJ when it was presented
At least Ortiz turned it down to take another title shot. I think Ortiz got bitten by that Saiyan pride; was too focused on getting revenge on Wilder when Joshua would've been the easier and higher paying fight.
Whyte has ducked at least three eliminators and a unified title shot with nothing to show for it.
Dillian Whyte doesn't want big fights anyway. He wants to act like he wants big fights and then duck them to accuse everyone else of ducking.
Ordered to fight Pulev for an IBF title shot, ducked it (Pulev later got his shot)
Ordered to fight Ortiz for a WBC title shot, ducked it (Ortiz later got his shot)
Breazeale offered to risk his mandatory shot he already had in hand, Whyte ducked it (Breazeale later got his shot)
Offered a chance to fight Joshua for the unified title, ducked it (Ruiz took it and won)
Even if Fury did agree to fight him, Whyte would find a way to pull out of it. His dream is to have his fake interim title elevated to a full title without having to beat a champion in the ring. I've been saying that for years.
The WBC should order Whyte to face Wilder in an eliminator. That would be hilarious, and Whyte would get Breazeale'd in one round.
