First I just want to give appreciation to Wilder for showing tons of guts but the fact of the matter is, he's not a true boxer.
He's just a really athletic person who's been gifted with enormous punching power. But he knows no defense. He doesn't know how to clinch. He doesn't know how to counter punch. He doesn't know how to slip or dodge a punch. Look at his resume. A lot of his KO's were against B level boxers with the only exception of Luis Ortiz who was at the time recognized as the biggest threat in the HW division.
Wilder throws wide ass hail mary punches similarly to what you would see in a street fight compilation video.
Defense is the best offense and Wilder has none of it. The only reason Wilder beats Joshua is because Joshua is too much of a coward to take any risks in his fights.
To me, what made it so exciting is that Wilder at any second could have knocked out Fury with one punch. Other than one punch in the 4th and a combo at the end of the 9th or 10th wilder did very little but for me the possibility of the big shot put me on the edge of my sest.
What risky fights did Wilder think he was taking in his career ?
In his head, maybe none because he thought he'd beat everyone.
The first couple Fury fights and the first Stiverne fight were relatively close betting odds. He also was signed to fight Povetkin when he was still good in 2016, which was close to even odds.
Who are you saying was a risky fight? AJ? I always thought Wilder would blast through AJ, so in my opinion that was a less risky fight than someone like Fury with size, movement, & skill (didn't expect power).

Offense is the best defense.
Don't change the phrase to fit your argument.
But I do agree that Wilders flaws make the fight more entertaining.
But to a purist, and I consider myself a purist, we love high level chess matches between two ring wizards. I don't think if Wilder was a more skilled boxer, the fight would have been boring. Not to me. And skilled boxers can also go to war. Boxing isn't a street fight, but make no mistake, it is a fight.
As far as resumes go, Wilder definitely came up fighting cans, but he ended up with some decent names on his resume. Stiverne, King Kong, Fury are all quality opponents. AJ didn't want the smoke or he'd be a W as well.
Stiverne the first fight to answer your question. Overall, yeahhh, I get your point lol can't deny much
He actually fought well that fight . I cant hate on that performance
So basically you're telling us that you could just pull any hard-hitting street thug out of a bad neighborhood, some guy like a Kimbo Slice who was known for knocking out bullies, put gloves on his fists and he can accomplish everything that Deontay Wilder did.
In 3 fights against Tyson Fury, the #1 Heavyweight on the planet, Deontay landed 177 punches and knocked him down 4 times.
If Deontay is nothing more than a bum with no skills and a wild punch, then what does it say about Fury if he was almost knocked out by him?
Think about it. If what you're saying is true, then Tyson Fury can't really be a good fighter. Either you're wrong, or Tyson Fury is a fraud. Which one is it?
He did say Wilder is extremely athletic and he hits hard. Tyson fought both fights up close. He is 6ft 9 with a fat gut of course WILDER will hit him. However, the fact is he is not a good boxer. You can cry as much as you want . Furthermore that moniker, Bronze bomber should be changed to Copper Bomber
Its the combination of zero defence + scary offence, which made it so Fury was better off being aggressive and taking Wilder out than attempting to box to a decision. He learned that after he danced around in the first fight only to get caught anyway and be screwed on the scorecards.
I dont expect Fury to look like he did in the 2nd and 3rd Wilder fights against many other opponents. He might be able to beat AJ and Whyte down in similar fashion, but theres not as much incentive for him to take risks in those fights because he could stay on the outside and box to a comfortable decision with less chance of getting Hail Mary'd in the process than in the Wilder fights. Most of the other top 10ish level guys are either too sturdy or too mobile for him to have much success being aggressive imo.
While not just anyone can step in and become a champ....You can't deny that Wilder is basically a barroom brawler the way he carries on in the ring. Has there ever been a moment in a fight when he out boxed a guy ?

Agree.
I'd dispute your assessment of Ortiz though. It seems to me that he was very carefully managed solely to be fed to Wilder.
Which leaves no-one credible on his CV. He was an amazing promotion job to get a US heavyweight champion.
And I don't think he beats Joshua. Well, puncher's chance and all that.
Yes absolutely. Also Fury not being at his best made him vulnerable. It reminded me of the Ali vs Frazier 3rd fight. Neither guy was at their best but that's what made it exciting.
He gets outbox by these B level guys for 5 6 rounds than BOOM... it's over. I think he could do it to some of the top guys , not named Fury. Hell, he almost got Fury. He's always dangerous, yet his skills are lacking big time
