As reported by BBC:
"Deontay has set his family financially secure so he doesn't have to fight to make a living. But retiring is not in his plans at all and not something we've discussed. He will be back in any form he wants to be. He's a big-time fighter and he doesn't belong down there with the other guys, he needs to be in high-level fights and main events."
I'm glad to hear it. I'd still like to see him fight Ruiz, Parker, Joyce, Helenius, Hrgovic, Yoka. He ducked Elite fighters for most of his career, so we don't know what level he's actually performing at. And so it would be good to see him against genuine contenders. And then maybe have him take on AJ or Whyte if he's victorious over a couple of the current Top 15.
Well if he wants to continue to fight and is medically cleared to fight then he needs to start working on his cardio conditioning as soon as possible. It is a must..
Carry around all of that heavy muscle is slowly but surely aging him. It's not only taking away his speed, timing and accuracy but 238 lbs of muscle is much too heavy for his small frame.
Moreover, it's effecting his overall, snap and pop in his punches but most of all it's making him very tired, fatigued with very low energy and balance in his legs..
He needs to get back down between 212-223 lbs if he is going to still be effective and prolong his career. i still believe that he can become World heavyweight champion again.

It's how you come back from defeat is what separates champions from greats, so why deny wilder chance to become great?
People will now be saying wilder lost as soon as he fought anyone half decent and wilder is overhyped. So now ball is in wilder court to comeback and prove doubters wrong and that he is in fact worthy of the praise
He is still easily one of the most dangerous men in the division and there are still plenty of top 15 ranked fighters he hasn't bothered to fight yet and none of them are as good as Tyson Fury.
The guy is a massive bell end but he's exciting to watch and I'd rather he was in the sport than put of it.
He has god given power so shouldn't waste it can still increase his ko highlight reel.
chisora has been koed quite a few times more and he has no plans to quit whilst he can fight big names
I would like him to beat 2 bums after a break back to back to get some convidence, and then make the fight against Joshua (if joshua loses again to Usyk). This is a very winnable fight that will gain big attention, polish his resume and make shitloads of money.

Joshua Usyk loser obviously. It’s the only fight really.
but he clearly need to hang them up
Why would he retire?
36, just took two big beatings in his last two fights, ended up face down on the floor, made a fortune.
Is he really going to be that motivated to fight back on PBC shows in non-title fights for significantly less money? I’m not sure.
Even if he wants to get back in the world title picture, if we get a unification next year which probably comes with a rematch, the belts will be tied up and he will probably be 38 before he could even potentially get a shot. I’m not sure he will hang around for non-title fights anymore.
there’s still good fights he can be in though. I just think that fight on Saturday will have taken something out of him.
Hi Gents. Wilder...Retirement? The man nearly won the heavyweight title this morning. Some of the names here aren't worthy of gracing the ring with this man. He will annihilate all of the names on that list except perhaps only Ruiz and I cannot see him getting out of bed for anything less than a big name and nor should he. Why do people think, that when a man loses a heavyweight title fight, his career is over? This man, was HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION for years and years before this. DOMINANT. Joshua was shit-scared of him and ducked him. He nearly just beat Fury and Tyson knows it. Tyson would not want to fight him again. No WAY. It takes multiple defeats to become a great heavyweight. By the way, I am a major Fury fan and yes, I believe he is the best heavyweight of our era, but not of all time. Not yet. Wilder could absolutely come back from this. He's a brutal fighter and incredible warrior.
There’s still big fights if he wants them.
Personally I don’t think he will be the same again.
Indeed. Those big fights could spell disaster if he gets hit hard once more. He has a huge heart, but absolutely no balance.
All this talk about Wilder not fighting again is coming from Chris Mannix and he's a total weirdo about the subject.
You know what fighters do? They fight. They fight until they can't fight anymore. It's not only how they pay their bills, but why they get out of bed in the morning.
Wilder can come back against Helenius or Martin and make a cool couple million, and then will likely have another big payday incoming.
The idea of him retiring is ludicrous.
Good post. I thought the uppercut that knocked Fury down saved Wilder from having to retire. I even said that shot saved his career in the rbr thread.
In addition to showing bravery and heart even though he was getting his ass beat, he showed the one punch power that casuals and diehards alike live.
