No group of fans is more guilty of that than African Americans. Not even the British.
The irony of you race-obsessed babies calling other people tribalistic is amusing.
There are actually reasons for these feelings. Its part of the boxing tradition in the United States... Every ethnic group in this country has found a way to be lauded through boxing... the Irish were treated like second class citizens, signs in shop windows ("help wanted No irish need apply") then the Italians, the Jews, and now the Blacks... and every heavyweight champ gave a leg up to his people, made them proud and more mallible to melt into that pot we call American assimilation. Blacks in this country are not the same as Blacks in europe... and there are reasons why it is relevant that Black athletes compete for being the heavy weight champion of the world, even today. Ali was many things... and Black was one of them. This matters and only through that tribalism do you get respect and ultimately unity.
So to be fair... there is no guilt about it. Its boxing in this country... Today, poor Polish immigrants who have little bring their flags when they go to see Polish fighters. One day when a Polish fighter becomes champ, that feirce ethnic pride will become the flame that helps melt those Polish people into that same melting pot.
I don't claim to understand British fans... I only know they are loyal and thats good enough for me. I may disagree with Sid knee's rants on occasion, but I cut slack because there has to be something driving the loyalty that British fans have for their fighters... But its disingenius to claim to know Black fans from the United States coming from Europe. Just my two cents.
Fury is an amazingly skilled fighter and boxing will suffer the day he hangs it up. But Fury can grow tiring very quickly. A lot of legit boxing fans in the UK really didn't like the stunt he and Arum pulled in those supposed AJ Fury negotiations. Joshua may have losses some stock and maybe considered the lesser of the two fighters. But you still need to actually fight, consistently. And against decent opposition. Fury hasn't really been doing that and I think he runs on thinner ice than even he realises. Americans will grow tired of him quickly if he goes back to fighting bums after this win.
Yup... Associate with Arum and usually the pattern is less meaningful fights with more build up for the tomato can of the day. Fury did his legacy a huge disservice when he hooked up with Satanic Bob. Fury wants to spread it out and ultimately that will cost him. He has to look at Lewis... people can say what they want about lewis... he cleaned the division out. He fought who was percieved as dangerous, even when it meant avoiding a mandatory to do so. Fury should commence to start fighting em all... it should look like the intro to batman! from the 60's lol.
My take on the nationalism is... Everybody is passionate about who they support. Thats boxing. Wilder is either some loud mouthed bigot who can't accept a loss, or, a great puncher who was wronged, and the very salvation for the purity of the American Heavyweight champ with a punch of granite! And likewise for Fury...he is either a lound mouthed self entitled poser of a gypsy, a cheater, a reprobate of the worse order, or he is amazing phenomena, a big fighter who can move well, with a boxing mind second to none (perhaps Usyk), and proof that British heavyweights, with the advent of Lewis have come out of the weak chinned, low risk, types...who moved well when looking for a place on the canvas to take a nap.
I see: two talented fighters. One guy has packed on some muscle properly, to increase his punch effectiveness. The other guy moving like a throwback fighter because he was brought up boxing from an early age...But Fury is a bit heavy and that concerns me. I do think he takes it though.
not really.
when ggg fought canelo he had plenty of support from the mexicans.
i'm a member of a few boxing groups on FB and i've seen black dudes there call the very few black people who support fury/didn't care about the result of the fight traitors etc. literally never seen a member of other group do that. to them this fight is all about race. it's actually quite funny if you think about it.
It's totally acceptable to be a racist if you are Black. Politically speaking, it's just the truth.
He conquered the US 2 years ago.
Stop making this about nations. This is about boxing.
Fury is the better, more appealing, more entertaining fighter and he owns Wilder. Objectively, Fury is the draw.
Just some fight night banter, no harm intended.
Welcome back brother.
I like Fury, but I don't think it has much to do with him.
America's a racist and deeply divided country. Any good white man would be favored over a guy like Wilder.
Overwhelming support on social media. Fury has conquered America.
It's funny seeing the Wilder stans cry about it.

I’m an American who wants Fury to win
I like his fighting style more
not a fan of sluggers who are only about that 1 big shot
Sums it up for me right here. I love the sport of boxing, the art and sweet science of boxing. Tyson Fury boxes. Wilder can 1-2 and that's about it. Thus, I want to see more of Fury than I do of Wilder. Simple.
You staying up for it pal? I'm probably going to set an alarm. yeah mate....I’m gonna set my phone for about 3.30 and get the feel for it.
we always support our own 100% so as I said he needs to be focused and sharp and bring that title back
That’s because Mexicans are chill. Nearly as quiet as asians
blacks aren’t shy about their opinions
Deontay went the extra mile too. He cleverly advertised himself as boxing’s great crusader for black rights
Floyd definitely wasn’t getting the he black me black me root for him treatment. Matter fact some blacks even went after other blacks for not backing Floyd
yeah
and they ate it up
which proves my point
Mexican boxing fans are #1 at blind tribalism
what the saying if you Mexican you can sell tickets
not really.

Sick of Wilder's bullshite! Throwing the race card as a reason you lost is unfathomably low class. It's not about race, it's about how you act. That's how people judge you. Look at true greats like Ali, Foreman, Frazier, etc.. Look at how classy AJ is. You'd never here them whining about some ridiculous conspiracy that would take dozens of people to coordinate. Because it's just stupid. Wilder has painted himself into a corner. Who wants a crybaby for the heavyweight champ? He has shamed American boxing, big time. I think he'll get himself disqualified tonight once it is obvious he's going to get pounded out. It's his way out to save face for his loyal followers. He didn't lose, he just fouled his way out to protest Fury's dirty tactics.
Well I kinda like the fact that Americans don't act like British mouth breathers who route for whatever garbage UK fighter is popular on the day. At the same time I dislike a lot of "great white hope" **** getting attached to Fury. Also amusing seeing a lot of dumb **** Hearniacs like REDEEMER accuse Wilder of "playing the race card".
Lol this is why I never took to Joshua. He always seemed to me to appeasing the middle English dickhead gammon audience with his fake nice guy act. I also think Wilder does actually have a decent bit of support stateside but I think he's unpopular among the dweeb young white male alt right types who tend to populate **** like messageboards and social media. Think there is a decent bit of crossover between typical UFCtard and Fury fan too.

Another Wilder hate circle jerk thread, OK I'll play along.
-I'm pulling for my compatriot, and I don't know any Americans that support Fury.
-The few that do are probably white fans frustrated that no white American has been to the heavyweight summit for a while.
-Fury was booed off the stage when rehearsing his WWE build up routine.
-The word "Dosser" doesn't even register with Americans.
-If he wasn't fighting an American nobody would even GAF about his azz.

I respect American boxing fans because they back who they want to back regardless of where they come from.
If you're a Brit, you're expected to support a British boxer whatever the circumstances, I've lost count of the number of times I've been abused on here because I've had a go at Joshua.
You seem to have racial issues yourself.
Always quick to support a foreign heavyweight before you do any of the home grown American ones.
Funny that cunt dick rode Joshua for the longest. He's not shifted to Fury. That's how a lot of British closeted fair weather fans are.

I don’t recall Wilder really having a huge following seems like he went with the race thing to build up a certain fan base , I’m assuming most of his fans follow him because of race at least that’s been my experience outside this forum , it’s always about black this and that first then everything else ,they are toxic .
I like watching Wilder fight unfortunately it comes with the other junk .
