First of all I'm favouring Spence in this fight, prime Pac clearly beats Spence IMO, but that's another debate.
Why are people emphasizing Spence's southpaw stance as a stylistic threat to Pac though? If we look at the guys PAC has struggled with they've all had a sniper straight right.
Marquez, Floyd, Morales and co.
Look at the guys he's obliterated, weak or no straight right - Cotto, Hatton. Oscar, Diaz, Thurman (not obliterated but handily beat).

he completely dominated the fight from start to finish and diaz got ko'd pretty badly. i dont know if you are thinking about a different fight maybe? possibly charlie zelenoff vs eric crumble
David Diaz was giving pac weird angles.
Pac was hitting him from the left, from the right, straight ahead even from the back.
Pac was confused.
Pac couldn't figure out a way to miss diaz.
This whole spence is a southpaw and give pac problems thing is retarded.
most boxers aren't used to southpaws on the big stage.
I dunno how they bring it up in favor of spence and not of pac.
Spence has to fight a southpaw too.
Weird newb logic.
I haven’t seen that being said, but it would be weird for a boxing fan to say that.
Only thing I can think of is that Pacquiao isn’t used to fighting southpaws. Pacquiao is highly successful vs right handed boxers.
There isn’t much data on Pacquiao vs Southpaws at the top level. David Diaz and Agapito Sanchez. Sanchez gave him issues. David Diaz was beat up pretty badly.
Agapito southpaw stance didn't really give pac issues.
It was agapito awkwardness and headbutt.
Same with horn.
awkward and fight dirty and catch pac with headbutts.
Yeah David Diaz, Pac got the stoppage but he had some trouble in that fight. He had to really dig into his bag to win, mainly because the Southpaw angles Pac normally likes to exploit weren't there. Spence is a much better fighter than Diaz too.
Say what?
What trouble?
With David diaz?
Pacs fist was sore after or what?

when did pac struggle against floyd? floyd struggled against pac is more apt. floyd wasnt even throwing his right hand for most of the fight he was in scared mode and so worried about pacs left. at least guys like marquez and morales were willing to land their own shots and in turn took some good shots. floyd wasnt willing to do that which is why he struggled to land anything cleanly. that was definitely a different type of fight where floyd thought he could win with a lil grazing jab thrown off the back foot while pac landed hard shots. run out the clock floyd the judges got you!

yeah you were watching the wrong fight!! the david diaz fight was the break out fight for manny for showing off all the other tools he has instead of his usual jab jab straight left... even the great emanual steward said during the fight that this is the first time he's seen pacquiao throw punches like that and mix it up like that and it's because he's fighting a southpaw. pac never had trouble against david diaz wtf??!!! lol!!!!!
Him that makes this fight strategy interesting. Pac will prob be very cautious and not really go for it and have spence racking up rounds to a decision. He dont really go all out anymore you look at his last two fights. This matchup could end up underwhelming
Yeah there is a reason I've been saying even in his prime this would've been a 50-50 fight. The Southpaw angles won't be there for Pac, Spence has a gas tank also just like he does. Not to mention Spence has the superior jab. Pac has the speed and footwork, but Spence is more fundamental and fundamentals are hard to deal with... especially when you don't have the gas tank you used to have.

Yeah and he destroyed him
