Not sure who wins, but I don't think Spence stops him. Spence's best wins are Kell Brook, Lamont Peterson, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, and Danny Garcia. The last time we saw Pacquiao in the ring, I feel like he was a better fighter than every guy I just listed above at the point in their careers when Spence fought them. I expect this to be close and for Spence to get a split decision, as I feel PBC is always trying to create a star (Spence isn't some major superstar despite what a lot of you think) off of Manny's back. Even this version of Pacquiao is probably quicker with his feet and hands than the best guys Spence has fought. It's 50-50 for me.
That’s the most likely outcome, and that’s no shade to Manny because I have all the respect in the world for him. It’s just that Spence would have been a tough challenge for a prime Pacquiao so it’s tough to see him pulling off the upset without Errol helping him out with a poor strategy of his own.
Yeah I completely agree mate, Spence is the clear favourite for me.
At 42 I’m not sure the he’ll be able to maintain the in-and-out and lateral movement like he used to. Even in the Thurman fight Pac considerably slowed in the mid-to-late rounds. I can see Pacquiao having some success early but I expect Spence to takeover around the mid way point of the fight.

Pac s give g all advantages away. This is true definition of da ring to be great.
spence should win but don't write Pac off. Ominous last words
Actually its a tactical mistake, they think Errol is not over the accident and that mistake is going to slap them like bringing JMM to 147 saying they wanted to force him to stand with Manny, he did stand with Manny lol.
This kinda pays us back a little for all them CW BS he was pulling, kinda smooths the Rios Algieri Matteseye Broner Horn scams, other than C grade Horn it has taken Manny 13 yrs to fight a real in form elite WW at 147.
Agreed. Manny will also need tremendous legs and footwork to pull off the upset. Spence isn’t exactly a defensive wizard so Pacquiao needs to get in and out quickly. I’m not sure if he can though because Spence isn’t just a face-first brawler either. Spence might just box from distance if Manny isn’t able to work his way inside. There is also a possibility that Spence goes into body-punching destroyer mode but we haven’t seen that against his best opponents, plus that actually gives Manny a better chance to land something big.

Disagree, and both Porter/DSG said Thurman hits harder. The thing with Spence is he breaks his opponents down with accumulation. Dude is a machine from the opening round. Thurman buzzed both Porter/DSG and I can't recall Spence hurting DSG minus maybe the 3rd round where he rocked him a bit. I can be wrong there as I haven't watched the fight in a while.
Spence hasn't stopped the top guys either and as Andre Ward said, that rarely happens that a fighter is going to consistently stop other elite fighters in their weight class...minus the stretch Pacquiao was on at one point. Porter, Mikey and DSG have never been stopped and Spence wasn't able to stop them either. That doesn't really matter to me to be honest since I didn't expect stoppages in those fights and same with Thurman...Though he should maybe be able to get Lopez out of there.
Ha! I get that, hard to bet against one of your favorites and then essentially root for them to lose due to your bet lol.
All the talk of Thurman like he was 100% he wasn't and had a terrible 2yrs ending in Mannys getting a split win, they are thinking Spence has issues from the car accident its going to back fire on them over the last half when Errol is walking him down.
Pac has to keep up his attacking style
No way on Earth he can win a chess match.
That's a big reason why Loma lost to Teo. He must have thought Teo wasn't going to keep throwing punches every rd.
Pacs bread and butter is attacking.
Unfortunately, Pac is not dealing with a shot, pillow punching righty.
In fact, THE EXACT OPPOSITE.
Pac hasn't KO'd anyone on Spence's level at WW.
Spence has never been KO'd
Pac has been KO'd at WW
AND Pac has been off for 2 years.
No, I'm not a Pac fan but I did not see him accepting this fight so late in his career.
I don't see him winning NOT because I'm not a fan but because there are too many advantages in Spence's favor.
Besides ''experience'', what edge does Pac have (don't say 'speed'. That may be his undoing) ?
Yeah I agree, if Pacquiao can time him early and pick up rounds, I believe he has a chance. If Spence begins to control the exchanges, I think Pac’s in trouble.
Who was the last southpaw Manny even fought btw? David Diaz maybe? I can’t even remember how Pacquiao approached and adjusted to facing a southpaw, he usually fires that straight left down the pipe but that shot is far less effective versus a fellow southpaw.

I completely disagree tbh mate. I’ve always felt Thurman’s power was a complete myth largely because he’s never stopped anyone of note. I remember him even being unable to put a dent in Jan Zaveck who Berto and Lara both got rid of. I’ll agree to disagree with you on that one though.
Yeah I’d find it to back against Pacquiao, I’d love to see him pull it off too purely because it would be such a legendary win. It seems a lot more people than I expected favour Pacquiao, so the odds may become too good to pass on.
I think the key will be Errol’s jab vs Manny’s straight left. Both are southpaws and Pacquiao likes to dip to the right to avoid jabs as he fires it. I will break down more footage and chime in some more later but that’s something I will be looking out for.

Thurman has heavier hands than Spence but he just lacks the consistency and his power tails off as the fight goes on. Thurman landed some vicious shots vs DSG, Porter and Lopez in the first half of the fights but then ended the fight on his bike as those guys were pressing the action...Less so vs Porter where he fought him but Thurman just has this tendency to fall off in fights.
I don't know if you are a betting man, but if you think Spence can stop him, then there will be GREAT odds for that as the fight nears. Spence will likely be around a 2:1 favorite the day of the fight or even slightly below that so good odds just betting him straight up.
Definitely lay a little money on it. He's back with his old strength and conditioning coach.
You know your boxing, sir :boxing:
Come over and watch the fight with me. We will indulge in adult beverages and eat finger foods with an array of dipping sauces.
we are on the same boat.. we know boxing well my friend.. it's in our blood.
