If you're a young guy with some fighting ability you can go for big money boxing if you're good enough or accept far less and go for an MMA career if you can't cut it in boxing.
Its not as simple as that. Most MMA fighters come from a wrestling background as MMA is the logical next step from that because its so readily transferable. When it comes to the pay thing, yeah at the elite levels boxers get paid more, but its crazy money that concentrated into a small number of fighters. The talent pool for MMA is much smaller and the UFC nowadays has 700+ fighters on the roster, thats a decent percentage of all active MMA pro fighters on the planet. So your chances of getting into the UFC, getting good exposure and making a few hundred grand per fight are considerably higher than making it to a level in boxing where you're getting paid millions per fight.
Hes right but this recent shit is not a good look for MMA tbh. Its being set up to be in an impossible position pretty much, especially when it comes to fighting Jake Paul. You win and you're a UFC guy who beat a Youtuber, you lose and you're a UFC guy who lost to a Youtuber who took up boxing 3 years ago. And there seems to be no shortage of ex-UFC names willing to go along with it for a payday.
I suspect that if it carries on for much longer the UFC is going to start pulling Randy/Toney style BS again or allow those Paul tards to fight in the UFC in some capacity. Then this garbage will have successfully contaminated two different sports.
The majority of you are also broke, so have to sell your name to a YouTuber in order to make money. The sad reality is if you offered Eddie enough money he’d happily take a dive for a YouTube kid tomorrow.
I’m an MMA fan but the sport is light years behind boxing and the pay gap reflects that. The likes of Dana White are robbing fighters blind. It’s disgraceful.
Truth really.
It makes me laugh how these guys act like their sport isn't fought under a rule set and act like the pavements a canvas and there is a cage around them to work with. You remove the cage alone and its a completely different sport altogether
Jiu jitsu, most of these martial arts barely if ever work under any scenario apart from MMA itself.
Every fight starts standing and 99.9% break out with a punch being thrown. Chances are you aren't going to know the opponents a boxer to try play it safe, assuming you have the distance to do so.
It also makes me laugh they think a boxer is incapable of biting, gauging an eye, kneeing in the boll0cks, etc
How many times are these MMA guys going to slept in the Street by average guys before they realise they're an insecure jack of all trades, master of none.
