As Devin Haney pointed out.
That doesn't take away from King Ry's great performance in that fight. Just like yesterday shouldn't take away from Haney's great performance either.
As long as he keeps the things that worked...and fixes the things that didn't...he should be an improved fighter going forward.
He literally looked dazed for a round and a half "after he got hurt." It happens.
even khan recovered quicker against maidana and maidana is a bigger puncher than linares and khan also has khans chin aka the worst chin ever(eric crumble excluded)
He got hurt in the 10th round, this is at the end of round 12. He held for 2 rounds straight. Come on man, please.
He literally looked dazed for about a round and a half after the knockdown. It happens.
Ryan never did this though --->
Haney was hurt.
You're supposed to clinch and hang on to give your head time to clear. I have no problem with him doing that. If you've ever boxed you know that this is what you're taught to do.
As Devin Haney pointed out.

Wannabe black panther has to try and save face since Bambi-legged Deon was hugging like he on white sitcom :kiss::kiss:
Ryan did not hug for dear life for 3 rounds and Ryan turned around and KO'd his opponent. Deon hugged like a gay man and needed the ref to bail him out...zero warnings or point deductions for excessive hugging...wasn't even clinching it was fuckin hugging LMFAO
Deon a KTFO meme waiting to happen
Difference is Ryan ended up knocking Campbell out. He also recovered quickly. He wasn't clinching or holding on for dear life.that and also Luke isn’t an older fighter on his way out. Luke is still in his prime and Linares isnt
Truth is that prime Linares probably finishes Haney last night.
Ryan recovered and knocked out a prime Luke that had never been knocked out.
As Devin Haney pointed out.

Yup, as the old saying goes “it’s not how you start but how you finish”. Unfortunately for Haney, what people will remember most from his performance last night will be the last 3 rounds of the fight not the first 9. Yes, Haney won but also took an L with the casual fans who didn’t appreciate all that hugging he did during the championship rounds. I mean the kid was booed after the final bell in his adopted hometown of Vegas out of all places just not a good look

I have no problem with him doing that, until his head cleared.

Garcia's recovery from the knockdown wasn't bad, Haney needed 1-2 full rounds just to recover, never saw a boxer lung to hug so much like Haney did last night. Too bad Jorge didn't uppercut him.
This was his first real step-up opponent. There was bound to be some weaknesses exposed, that's the whole purpose of pressure testing.
The more you do that and make corrections afterwards the better you are going to get. That's the process that creates great fighters.
lmfao. I literally just said the same thing in another thread. I'll move it here.
"He looked great for the first half though, that's the thing. You know how I'm a believer of how fighters can look great in a loss and have their stock raise from a "good loss?" well, this was a "bad win." And because of how boxing is, had he gotten rocked at the beginning, held for the first three rounds and them dominated the last half of the fight, nobody would even remember it in a few weeks."
