Linares is still a world class, top-level fighter and Haney won the fight convincingly so credit where credit's due! After Haney got cracked, it wasn't pretty but he survived.
It was a very enjoyable fight. Haney for the most part was great, then he decided to be more aggressive and stay in the pocket a bit longer and next thing you know he is doing a forward moon walk back to his corner and he barely recovered by the final bell.
To be fair it may of been real ugly to us fans but he certainly made sure to tie Linieres up a lot when he was hurt, he didn’t do something stupid like trying to fight it out. That running hug was hilarious.
true about Ryan he got dropped and rallIed back for the KO, but Haney's troubles tonight hinted at Amir-Khan tier glass-Central Nervous System. he didnt recover for like 10 mins.
suffering a a flash KD during a sub par performance win isnt as bad as doing the stanky leg multiple times after getting rocked hard. i suspect Teofiimo would send the Haney that showed up last night to the shadow realm.
if Amir Khan got hit by a Linares counter hook, think Danny Garcia. He'd have been done. That was a good punch. He timed it perfectly. Haney was hurt for half of the next round. But he survived. Amir Khan wouldn't have.
Ryan got hurt by a guy who is not known to have power and got dropped, and teofimo got dropped in sparring with headgears before. Devin haney weathered the storm from a harder puncher who punches in combinations, all hard punches like linares and outboxed him. Ryan and teofimo hasn't showed me that type of grit yet. Ryan has tons of bad tendencies that can be exploited, and he is the least polished fighter. Teofimo would be a tougher fight, but teofimo is more of a 1-punch counter puncher that devin does well against.

Got caught up trying to make an impression.
Was dominant and quite impressive for 9 rounds. I think it's a good thing he got rocked, tested and learned a lesson without losing.
he is skilled but idk where he goes from here, i dont think he beats the best at 135 and he isnt going to move up well, hes got no power, chin is shaky and his actual handspeed isnt that fast. his reflexes are good but his handspeed is only ok.
cant picture him being on top in 5-10 years at a higher weight.
This, and now he knows boxing is not a game.. if you are dominating there is no reason to completely change your style to "please" the jackasses who are not even your fans. He was fighting exciting enough, then wanted to turn into a brawler.
He was exciting to watch in this fight. I think the answer is to keep what worked tonight and fix what didn't...not to go back to the Gamboa style that turned people off.

That is a very tough lesson. Honestly F the fans, you can never please everyone.
Definitely hurt, but it’s great for him. As those who aren’t keen on fighting him might wanna take a chance now.
