Are you asking if Canelo at 168 or 175 could hurt heavyweights? If so, absolutely not. He didn't have the power to stop Smith or Jacobs at 168. No way he hurts a halfway decent heavy.
If you are asking what kind of power Canelo would have if he were 200+, he'd be muscle-bound and useless at that weight there is no doubt in my mind canelo is still juicing being he punches a lot harder now then before. he could not even hurt cotto who was KO'd by the flyweight Pacquio
He’s not some huge puncher
yeah he caused injury to Saunders through catching him in the perfect spot, but he caught him flush with other shots and never wobbled him. He couldn’t even drop him with one eye.
when is the last time Canelo stopped a good fighter by really putting their lights out? Khan? He couldn’t take a shot at 135.
Canelo is a sharp and accurate puncher, but you rarely see him hit fighters and their legs go, like when a big puncher hits fighters.
He hits hard enough to hurt Callum Smith and Saunders, yes. he couldn`t even hurt GGG at 160.
Please, Canelo is not Mike Tyson. Mike was probably around 180 when he was 15 years old, lol.
In theory yes. He hits hard enough to hurt people.
In practice, no. He hits hard because he's prepared to step on his punches. He'd be a brave man to do that with a 200+ pound heavyweight in range.
How hard he hits is as much to do with what's coming back as it is his actual strength and speed.
Canelo vs Charr for the WBA Championship in Recess :boxing:
Lol, that's a good matchup! Do you think nelo could pull it off? I heard Oquendo had Dibbs on that. Anyway isn't charr the 3rd longest reigning wba hw champion ever? Lol... Correct me if I'm wrong
Well if he has to weigh in over 200 that could be a detriment. If he could come in around 185-190 he would have a better chance. Mind you he would have to handpick an opponent. Just like when Hopkins was gonna move up to Oleg maskaev and how Andre Ward wanted solely Joshua. Much like toney and Jones picked on John Ruiz. Who do y'all think of that Canelo should fight at heavyweight in your opinion?

You're right, I'm wrong, the facts back it up. Shoulda known better, thanks for the real stats.
No problem man. A lot of people don’t realize how long Toney was at CW and HW (where I thought he was better than at 175 TBH, when he hooked up with Roach he looked like a prime 168 Toney again) James was my favorite fighter growing up, that’s all.
Toney didn't choose John Ruiz or "pick on him" like you say. Yes Jones was at Heavy for a cup of coffee, and hand picked Ruiz but Toney fought Holyfield, Ruiz, Sam Peter (x2) Hasim Rahman (x2) Booker (when he was an undefeated prospect) and Oquendo.
IIRC Toney took the Ruiz fight on short notice, and that's why he failed the drug test. He was taking something for a torn bicep when he took the fight. The fight before and after Ruiz were both WBC eliminators to get a shot at Vitali (IIRC)
