I was not scoring per se, but it had the feel of Billy Joe out foxing Canelo and putting some rounds in the bank. It felt like Billy Joe Saunders was slightly ahead, but not by much. Maybe a round or so, with Canelo having the best round of the match with the previous round.
One of my friends picked Billy Joe to win. I was in a group text watching the fight. All of my friends were shocked at the scorecards. All of my friends I was in a group text with had Saunders ahead at the time of the stoppage and felt cheated out of the fight, as it was just heating up.
4-4 after 8, maybe 5-3 Canelo, depending how you scored the first round
Saunders clearly won rounds 5, 6 and probably 7. Even round 4 was close.
Canelo was missing a lot, also a lot of his good looking shots were being blocked, although you would never know if you’re listening to the crowd and commentary.
Saunders was starting to take control of the range and Canelo was missing more and more until he landed that shot.
doesn’t matter though, he timed a great shot and it was the end of the fight.
Pretty much everyone I know that’s watch the fight back again said it’s actually a lot closer than they thought at the time.
Saunders is a very good fighter, if he could stay more active than he has been and get some solid wins, I wouldn’t be against seeing it again. An active Saunders is probably even more competitive and sharp.
Saunders was up by 1 point before Canelo landed the fortunate uppercut. The punch wouldn't have been that impactful if it weren't for Saunders ducking into it. Lucky timing.
But yes Saunders was boxing beautifully and up a round.
Wasn't lucky timing at all. Saunders was getting hit by the same uppercut since round 1.
5-3 Canelo.
The late fight was always going to be the most interesting best part of the fight. Shame we didn't get to see it. BJS wasn't looking as bad stamina wise as I expected, he did start to square up a little at times later on though.

6-2 and the fight was getting better and better for Canelo, thats why Saunders had to initiate the clinch mutlible times in round 8 before Canelo broke his eyesocket.
I gave Saunders two rounds, could maybe be persuaded that he won a third. That's all. Canelo was winning and had figured Saunders out. It was a matter of time, injury or no injury.
I mean it wasn’t a blow out by any means. And I missed a few minutes of it because my stream was crapping out on me. I did not see everything, but I caught most of the action and from what I saw, it seemed like Billy won a good portion of the middle, with Canelo coming on. Canelo definitely landed the more telling blows, but going rd by rd, it seemed to me that Billy won a few more rounds than one might initially have thought.
