What do they have to gain from that?? you are already getting paid and already rich why risk going blind?? for what?? some idiots online who will forget you in a week or 2?? there is nothing to gain from being stupid
True
If the doc feels a guy can't go on, even if the fighter and his corner insists that he can, you have to respect the doc.
Then again....
''Corrales fought against Ring No. 1 ranked Super Featherweight Joel Casamayor. After the sixth round, the fight was stopped because of a deep cut inside of Corrales' mouth''
His fuc king mouth !!!!
Everyone was pissed off. IIRC, Chico was starting to take over.
If your corner throws in the towel, the fighter ''should'' realize they did it for their guys safety.
Most times a fighter will not want the towel thrown in. Most guys hate it when a ref calls it off.
Most of the hate BHS is getting is due to his mouth. He wanted to play the villain ?
If a fighter has a broken bone in his hand, a broken nose, fight goes on.
A major bone, ankle, arm...then most times the fight is stopped and fighter doesn't get tagged with a Q.
Supposedly, Pac fought most of the fight with May with a broken shoulder bone.
Cotto is tagged a quitter....

After 11 rds of cement filled gloves, he gets tagged a quitter.
It's a cruel sport that I feel if any of us were a pro, we would not want to be tagged a quitter.
Question is, what would be our limit ?
Good question. I will tell you this. I fought pretty intensly full contact karate, and was brought up in a fighting club... I did it, earned the respect of my peers... became a succesful teacher and highly ranked BUT I was never, and never will be a fighter, as in someone who likes to fight. It just was never my nature and I could fight on for training, but for personal glory? I never valued it,.. So, while I could bottle it, I was never driven... If nothing important was on the line, and I got hit in the face, my natural proclivity would be to stop lol... even though my training overrides that. Yet... if someone messes with friends, or family, bullies... I become a terror. That makes me resolute and willing to deal with the worse pain and suffering... It took me years to learn this about myself lol.
I use myself as an example because I have come to respect a psychological principle: People all have different things that motivate them. Find the thing that makes you tick, find the thing that enables your personal incredible hulk to come fourth. I believe that fighters have certain motivations. Someone like Margarito wanted to be an Aztec warrior, that incetivized him... and so he could withstand punishment to be that warrior. Other fighters have other ways they truly see themselves... and this makes them establish and test limits. My two cents....
Unfortunately people seem to be confusing two seperate and distinct issues:
1) the injury itself and a fighters choice regarding stopping, or continuing.
2) The statements made by BJ Sanders to the effect of how he would fight on regardless of any injuries, or danger.
These are two distinct issues. The statement BJ made is so ridiculous that I can't even really call him a hypocrite. I mean... If I tell someone you can shoot me 100 times and I will keep coming, who expects me to even attempt such a feat? When BJ said he would fight through anything, no one should have even taken him seriously. However getting ripped for saying such a stupid thing? calling it Karma? Sounds right to me. the heavyweight kid Dubois also showed real class and maturity.
There is a story of a karate match with two very heated, and high level rivals. One rival scored a point with a devistating kick to the leg, which broke his rival's leg at the knee. this was a form of fighting where fighters, after a point scored would get into a position to fight for the next point. The devistated rival refused to quit, he dragged his broken leg, and went to fight on... he finished the match, PERMANENTLY crippling himself in the process to save face... My take on this story is: Ok, if the guy was single, had no kids, no one depending on himself and wanted to make a statement in a grudge match, which was not a profession (no pay), more power to him. But under any other circumstances this was a selfish thing to do.

Not even just blind, killed.
Imagine if Billy Joe took another shot like that in the same spot. Canelo was getting free hits from the side of BJS leading arm he couldn't see shit. Sitting duck, and Canelo had a 12 gauge. Same situation with Dubois also.
I notice boxing fans don't look at boxers like Humans, fans want to treat these guys like they're Characters on a Video Game like Fight Night. They're not allowed to have any flaws, they're not allowed to get hit, they're not allowed to get knocked down, they're not allowed to get tired, they're not allowed struggle in a match, they're not allowed to lose.
Put yourself in the place of a prize fighting boxer. How do you handle your business ?
Would you accept losing, getting KO'd, looking sloppy ?
Would you not want to put on a good show if for no other reason than to make yourself marketable ?
With the right game, even losers like Broner and Khan can make a decent living.
Fighters have to fill seats. Just like concerts and movies. If no one wants to see them, no one will.

I didn't come here to have my intellect confirmed by a guy who uses phrases like "slap the taste out of your mouth".
Have a nice day and don't give up. You'll find someone who will send you photos of themself. Keep trying.
Your logic was absolutely awful. I will gladly slap around an idiot like you who tries to spar out of his league. You needed a lesson.
Yes thanks, your wife already sent me photos, so you're right.
yep and ended up messed up later in life..you are kinda proving my point..keep going
BHS quitting has really made you consider if boxers should wear head gear :lol1:
DDD comments got him in hot water. No one complained about Kell Brook getting his eye jacked other than Spence fanatics.
The thing is Billy didn’t take a knee in the middle of the ring. He was still taking flush shots for the rest of the round and wouldn’t go down. His corner pulled him out.
Dubois took a jab on his bad eye and went down by choice and stayed down to be counted out. Billy’s injury seems to be far worse too.
So they’re really not comparable except for the fact the fights both ended via eye injury.
the truth is a lot of people don’t like BJS and maybe be brought that on himself, so they’re taking that as license to say he quit. But if we talk in facts, he was still taking shots in that round, never looked for the floor or turning away. He never quit, his corner (rightly) pulled him. It is what it is.

They're not allowed to have any flaws, they're not allowed to get hit, they're not allowed to get knocked down, they're not allowed to get tired, they're not allowed struggle in a match, they're not allowed to lose. This mentality from Fans is one of the main reasons why big fights are not happening as often as they should. Fighters as well as Promoters are terrified of taking Risk because the mentality of fans are "If He Lose He Is Done...He Was Overrated...He Was A Hype Job"
So Fans are just as much of a problem as the promoters themselves on top fans the fans who also make it acceptable for their favorite fighter to avoid certain fighters and fight styles and will even go out of their way to make excuses for their favorite fighter not fighting a potential threat
With this BJS situation though, KARMA is a B%tch for him and others piling on DDD after his Defeat when he got his eye busted up by Joyce

''See'' the difference ?!?!?!?
and now Margarito has a fake eye and no wife
They shouldn't. You ain't gonna appreciate the fleeting admiration of fans saying how you went out on your shield if you're in a coma, blind or facing reconstructive surgery with your future career on the line. Once you got enough to keep yourself and family safe and got your needs covered all the rest is expendable, though of course that's the voice of an older man talking and I wouldn't have listened either 20 years ago.
That said there's some weird eye for an eye karmic justice floating around here with Dubois taunting Joyce's mam's eyesight and getting his eye effed up and then Saunders taunting Dubois and getting his eye fucked up.... Whilst I ain't gonna claim I believe in that kinda shet except in the general sense that what goes around comes around lets just say Ima be spooked if Berlanga gets his eye busted up too.:lol1:
You're not a very smart guy. You've already showed that. Keep going though, I love when stupid people try to act smart.
