Andrade reminds me of Lara. We don't really know how good he is. He looks good, but nobody wants to fight him. At 33, he might be slowing down just a tad, so we saw him in a 'better' fight. Boxing is a game of millimeters and which punches just miss you in your late 20s may start hitting you in your mid 30s.
Regarding a fight against GGG, I think I would take GGG. Andrade makes mistakes by throwing those lead uppercuts. That's a recipe for disaster against GGG who will time that and counter with either a hook or an overhand right. You saw Williams catch Andrade a couple of times during the fight.
He looked fragile to me. I think it’s likely he has a subpar chin. He seemed to be on wobbly legs every time Williams landed.
That may be it...maybe he fights the way he does because he has a shaky chin, and knows it
providence can be rough...but it aint that bad....but its prob a good idea for anyone with a little status and money to GTFOH...anyways...he moved to new hampshire years ago...not exactly sure why he chose that but its a bit odd....i dont know him personally but he strikes me as a guy with a little of that ricky williams in him...kind of aloof and def smokes alot of weed....
i def wouldnt call him "well managed"...but hes been fortunate to kinda live off that buzz his name had many years ago...he still doesnt have a fight anyone has really cared about...although he def has enough money to live off rest of his life right now(at least should)
i cant believe hearn cant leverage AJ to get this guy something worth a ****....when you have one of the biggest assets in boxing in AJ you should be able to use that to get fights for guys like andrade...i dunno maybe andrade hearn are happy as is with this arrangement....i mean andrade is getting checks for fights he should win
and hes always been the type to fight in spurts
On the bold, that is kind of my thought too - not with just Andrade but with a lot of guys now. They are content enough to take 'easy' wins for 1 million. I really don't know who does, or doesn't, want to challenge himself these days. It's a mess to work through all of it.
The Ricky Williams comparison is spot on for Andrade though. Great point there, I think they have a similar mentality overall with their sports
What makes you think Andrade is worse than Korobov?
If I was going into a boxing war, I'd take Korobov with me than Andrade. At least, Korobov is tough as nails, for as long as it lasts. I could be convinced he beat Jermall. Andrade is a softy with no style or killer instinct.
You didn`t, but you kinda think like Andrade has zero chance against Charlo, don`t you?
I am thinking that way: if Korobov was able to look good against Charlo, Andrade also can.
Sure, but that’s not proof of Andrade being any good. You have to achieve in the ring rather than use speculation
Jermall has since gone on to beat a better fighter in Chenko (his only noteworthy name in 4 years at middleweight), so I have some sympathy for the argument that Charlo had an off night
I have no doubts Andrade could beat Jermall if he had an off night, and yet that Korobov performance is still better than anything Andrade has done in his entire career. Says all you need to know about Andrade
What made you ask that from my post? I never compared the two
Korobov did arguably beat Charlo though, which is levels above anything Andrade has done... which is kinda embarrassing for a two weight titleholder

He did better than I thought, I expected Williams to win, I was obviously wrong but had the fight much closer than the bull hit cards, I had it 115-112.
Andrade gets brutalised by the elite of the division.
people stopped using it because you have to be perfect with an uppercut. Even being off by a small amount and it's the easiest punch to counter, and if you're lazy with it you can see it coming by a mile. I'll often mention when someone is "open to eat an uppercut" too, but it's also probably the most commonly telegraphed punches there is. Holyfield v Douglas just off the top of my head.
I remember when I was younger throwing a bolo punch in the gym, and coach coming right over and saying "never let me catch you throwing that **** ever again"
i feel you on that....its def a gamble....but one that can change a fight....risk vs reward for most i guess...just wild that guys see an opening and are reluctant to throw when so many times guys have trouble throwing unless they see an opening at all
yeah..i just find that its an underutilized punch by so many fighters....there are so many times im watching a fight and i see the opening and guys wont throw it..maybe its because im seeing it from a different angle but i see so many guys passing opportunities with it.....andrade might do it too much....theres gotta be a happy medium somewhere

Oh it's a beautiful uppercut, but by the sixth round he just looks like that cat you'd play Street Fighter 2 with as a kid who would just spam the same ****ing move over and over

i love the punch tho....so many fighters dont use it when they could/should when its there....but andrade falls in love with it a bit much...

Maybe about a six. I think guys like Derev or even G at this point stop him. I don't get the booboo hype. He looked pretty vulnerable through a lot of the fight, and if someone can just NOT walk into a ****ing uppercut every time they walk in they should be able to hurt him

He's still never fought anybody good.
When Culcay, Sulecki, and Martinosyan are your best wins and you barely beat those guys, it's time to put up or shut up.

Terrible fight. Excessive clinching was allowed. No warnings. I'm sure Williams would have won without the clinching.
Yeah, it's not hard to imagine.
But that's how it is. Referees have power to control the fight,
make the fight more entertaining by simply penalizing too much holding.
But they're useless.
He looked good in moments against a fighter he should look good against
he looked hurt and shaky at times against a fighter that he shouldn’t look like that against. that’s nothing against Williams. I think he’s a tough fighter that can punch a bit, but he’s a solid domestic level fighter, probably fringe world level or euro level on his best day .
I just see Andrade getting stopped as soon as he fights a real top fighter in the division.
Andrade is tough mofo.
He always looks like he has not enough power to be there. He looked the same at 154. But on the other hand, only some elite guy will be able to take him out.
