I get it it was his idea but if Arum wanted to dead that **** he could’ve. That was Arums blunder. They could’ve forfeited the IBF and went after another fighter. But hey it worked out and like you said Teo’s getting paid handsomely for it. And hopefully he can find a way out of that contract without getting shelved like Canelo did.
There is the thing called the Ali act, a lot of boxers in America need to read up on it. That would stop advisers, promoters, managers from exploiting them.
I don’t know why boxers in America aren’t taking advantage of it. So no matter what Arum tries to do it wouldn’t work.
Team Lopez have emails that Todd sent to DAZN for them not to bid on his fight with Kambosa, and this happens more often in boxing. How many times has PBC stopped their boxers from earning more money from other promotional outfit? Luiz Ortiz for example, where is own manager lied about the offers from Team Joshua, only to be caught out.
These boxers can use the Ali act IF they want to, but most of them aren’t educated enough, that’s why they get used as a slave. Tank Davis is another perfect example.
This is why am applauding Teo Lopez at this young age for standing up to the political and business side of things. More power to him...
Idk about afraid, but Floyd is managing risk with Tank. Idk why they didn't fight Loma years ago when that was one of the bigger fights to make in all of boxing. Idk why they took so long to fight LSC. Idk why they haven't fought GRJ. But clearly thats not the plan.
That said if Tank is fighting Barrios next & Teo is one or two fights away from moving to 140 & maybe away from TR then it seems like Teo vs Tank would be The Fight soon enough to make. I got no doubt Teo would take the fight. I got no doubt Tank would take the fight. I do got doubts Floyd would make the fight based on how he's moved Tank thus far. And one of my biggest issues with Tank outside the ring is he legit doesn't seem to care who he fights so he's never gonna be the guy demanding a fight be made like other top guys tend to do with their promoter.
Floyd usually puts his guys out there to sink or swim. I think they had to hold Tank back because he wasn’t focused for a minute. Remember he and Floyd were beefing a little bit for a while. I think that was due to outside voices in Tanks head. That was around the time Eddie Hearn was trying to recruit Tank to DAZN. That Pedraza fight was like 2 years ago or something like that. Then Tank was shelved for a while yada yada yada. Either way it seems like their back on track so why not go for it.
It was his move, he spoke about it many times before that, others like Ellerbe laughed at him, Arum tried to play him.
Guess what? He didn’t leave it up to his promoter, or adviser. He and his father educated themselves on the business and political side of things.
And they got paid handsomely for it. This is a lesson for lot of these boxers, who are content allowing others stopping them from taking big money fights on other platforms, just because it doesn’t work for them as promoters.
The boxers are STILL the main event, they are the one getting hit in the face, not the promoters who tries to play politics and use these boxers as slaves.

I love the move I just don’t think it was up to Lopez to go to a purse bid. He may have wanted it but I think it was more a blunder on Arums part.

Boss move, Ali act. He just got his fight to a purse bid. That is a business BOSS move. You called yourself a “Business man” but you sound more like a follower.

And hopefully Lopez can use this law suit as a way to leverage himself out of his contract. Or at the very least get Top Rank to give him a way to buy out of his contract.
His promoter allowed it you mean. And I’m all for the moves he’s trying to make but he’s not a free agent yet. Too many times I’ve seen guys like Mikey Garcia and Andre Ward get shelved going up against their promoters.

Just another Spence/Crawford impass over egos except it seems its going to play out with all the fighters mentioned above vs Tank/MP smfh. Someone tell Mayweather he doesnt have to wait for offers if he wants put on a great fight involving Tank. Shoot some offers yourself since you view your fighter as the "A" side and we"ll get an idea of what you feel the financial terms should be in tanks favor and negotiate from there. It"ll atleast give us an idea on how serious you are about putting tank in with anyone worth a damn.
Let's list the names:
Teofimo Lopez
Ryan Garcia
Gervonta Davis
Devin Haney
Vasily Lomachenko
Only one of those names has done a successful ppv.
Only one of those names is selling well in venues across different areas of the country, even in a pandemic
If that isn't the definition of "A-side", I don't know what is.
Reading these posts, some of you need to stop letting your feelings for Floyd or PBC guide how you judge Tank.
Tank absolutely is a draw and has the numbers to prove it. He can fill up the MGM Inner Harbor. If any of you have ever been there in Maryland its like a mini Vegas. It is no small feat that Tank can fill that arena up. You guys act like there are a ton of guys that can do that in the sport. There isn't.
People forget Floyd wasn’t making big money overnight. He paid his dues and took some risky fights early. Wasn’t until the ODLH fight and the 24/7 series that he became a mainstream draw.
These young guys are afraid to be great. Tank hasn’t done anything and he’s being protected like he’s Mayweather or Pacquiao. I like Lopez’s mindset. He was the underdog against Loma and he beat his ass and now wants to call his own shots. Respect the hustle.
He already is, and he is making Bosses moves. You as a “Businessman” should be proud of boxers like him. He are standing up to these promoters who try to used them, who try to restrict them. He just allowed his next fight to go to purse bid. Something none of his peers have ever done at the same age, he has his business mind on, he isn’t laying low under some promoter, he is out there speaking for himself. You should be clapping him for that alone.

Let me know when Teo is successful than we can talk. And if he does more power to him.

Rexy, Pedraza was 151 (superwelter) on fight night against Davis. A huge, undefeated guy. Davis clearly looked the smaller guy. He made him into a toy.

I loved her in the 80s.
People are really putting A LOT into the win against Leo, as if there wasn't a notable size discrepancy like in all of Tanks fights.

Floyd - "Tank is one of the biggest names in boxing.. for doing what he did.. We can't judge a guy.. A guy is not great because won one fight.. To become a legendary great fighter.. You must continue to go out there and beat good fighters and beat great fighters.. At lightweight tank has the biggest name.."
Lol what the fk did tank "do" and what has he done at lightweight...jack****..what good or great fighters does tank have on his resume.. Jack****. The only thing Tank has is good promotion. Calling him the A-side purely based on how well he is promoted is embarrassing and laughable. He need to actually back it up with his own merit and not ride off of Floyds money and status.
He said he was one of the biggests Names in boxing , he is ! He never said he was great he said biggest names which is true .
Now you are reaching. None of what you wrote here had anything to do with the subject at hand. Nothing to do with sponsors, Hearn, Mayweather type money.
This is about boxers earning the biggest money available to them, buying out their contract like Mayweather did and not being dictated to.
Lopez is showing these boxers how to be their own bosses, someone like you or Tank can learn from him, instead of being a slave.
