Are there ten legit title contenders at heavyweight?

Where have all the heavy weights gone? Any good up and comers out there? It has been Fury, Joshua, Wilder, Whyte for years. How many can you count before you get into bum territory? Can you legitimately get to 10? - -Why U start in Bum territory? U illegitimate?

I previously had my doubts about Joe Joyce but he's made me a believer. He would be a tough fight for virtually everyone at hw

you should clear smth up first, the ? was top 10 contenders, how is Fury or Joshua are on some lists, they are champs, top 10 contender can be ranked 20th or 50th by boxrec

Anyone asking if ten legit title contenders exist haven’t watched boxing long enough because it’s never that high at one time , until now . 1 .Hrgovic 2. Joyce 3. Usyk 4. Wilder 5. Povetkin 6.Whyte 7. Mahkmudov 8. Gassiev 9. Wallin 10. Dubois You have to look at these names just here and see how dangerous the division is ,anyone of these guys is a contender to get a title some more then others obviously. I’d like to give you the benefit of doubt but I’m pretty sure you are serious...

The only time you will ever have 10 legit contenders in a division is if nobody is very good.

Think people are underestimating the HWs nowadays. For ex, out of the replies so far, not a single mention of Hrgovic. That dude is legit as they come. Yoka, Hrgovic, Dubois, Usyk, Gassiev are all mostly untested at HW, with very high potential. Out of them, Dubois got knocked out by Joyce after putting up a helluva fight and looking very strong for parts of it, while Gassiev got schooled by Usyk at CW. Otherwise, all those guys have legit promise on world stage. In 2021-22, there are some really exciting HW fights to make. Hrgovic vs. Gasiev? Imagine!

Everyone on here constantly tells us that Usyk, Ortiz and a fit again Ruiz would beat Joshua. In fact the list is a fair bit longer according to some. Yet there aren't many contenders? There's a difference between contender and elite. There are never more than one or two elite fighters, but plenty can win and prove themselves over a period.

I think right now we're in a transition time and have more prospects then contenders. I think the next few years we're going to see some guys pull ahead of the pack.

Its much better than the Wlad/Vlad days.

Ortiz is as legit contender as Pulev, Pulev is actually ranked higher by boxrec, having one on your list and not the other one is bs

Wilder, Fury, AJ, Usyk, Joyce, Yoka, Ruiz, Whyte, Doubois, Rivas, Hunter, Parker, Ortiz, Povetkin. There are some good fights to be made.

What do you expect. When you have a lying drug-cheating gypsy piece of garbage who has barely fought 2 credible opponents in 12 years as the so called lineal champion. It's gotta be garbage.

They don't have to be the 10 greatest of all time either because the current era is the current era.

The kid looks pretty good so far!

There are plenty of tough fights out there down the line but slot of them are former amateur stars, similar age to aj and fury if not older

Can you legitimately get to 10? You can legitimately get to 10 because it's relative to the current era if nothing else. It's all well and good if you think this era pales in comparison to the 90's for example but the 90's heavyweights aren't active anymore (recent exhibitions notwithstanding). In other words, you can only face other active fighters so if there are 10 average fighters and 90 so-called bums then the 10 average fighters would still be the top ten.

Although HW fight can be won with one lucky punch one cannot say that there are multiple LEGIT contenders. No, there are IMO only three really legit contenders nowadays -- Fury, Joshua and Joyce. Then there is a pack of secondary choice legit contenders.

There’s 1 elite HW in Fury. Two very good HW’s in Wilder and AJ. Then there’s a couple of decent 40 yr olds hanging about but they ain’t no threat anymore. Usyk is a legit contender. Joe Joyce is a problem for anyone, so he’s a contender too in my opinion. After that it’s very slim pickings IMO.

There’s a good crop of Eastern European’s coming though, Hergovic and the like. People might note rate them but they are right in the mix with the level below, Whyte and the like. Then there’s people right there now to break through, Joyce, Usyk etc The way things are you can defo get 10 names that could all legitimately beat AJ or Wilder, at a push Fury
