Victor Ortiz lunged in too much and fought too squared at times, but he at least had decent foot movement and he moved his head way more than Ryan Garcia. His punches were crispier and it was always great seeing him put combinations together. I see a lot more flaws in Ryan Garcia. His only defensive maneuver is to lean his head back with his chin in the air and he’s too flat footed. He does the catch and shoot technique like Danny Garcia, but he’s terrible at it. A prime/young Ortiz would have KO’d Ryan Garcia.

I read no lies,
Garcia is still green.
That’s why I think if Tank is to ever fight Garcia, he should do it right now.
Casuals won’t understand the complexities of it but on Tank’s resume it will be a good win regardless and it will gather a lot of views because of Garcia’s social media presence. Just like those youtubers who are boxing circus fights.
Even with that said, I think Garcia still beats Haney who has even more flaws to be fighting with such a risky style to be emulating James Toney.
Maidana and Berto are better than Campbell. The fact that a 22 year old Ortiz fought a prime Maidana still surprises me because of how good Maidana turned out to be. He was arguably one of the hardest hitting junior welterweights/welterweights of all time. There is no way that Ryan would have gotten up if he faced someone with Maidana-like power.
No way maidana let's him off the hook either. People forget ortiz dropped and hurt maidana multiple times also. Maidana has no ****ing quit especially at 140
I dont think Campbell is a bum but he def let Garcia off after severely hurting him. But props to garcia for recovering too. That kd was reminiscent of bradley against prov. That armed landed really awkward
I dont see what the issue is. This is what we should wanna see out of young fighters, yes it's all hype and glory when they are coming up against overmatched bums. But the real test is how they react when sh4t isnt going their way.
He is still incredibly young so he has time to sure up his defense before it just becomes a bad habit like Amir's or broner (yes his defense is atrocious).
Until proven otherwise, Ryan has the one thing Ortiz DIDN’T have at 140 or 147, and that’s the heart and will to fight through adversity.
Ortiz vs Berto 1?

That's possible but as of right now we don't know yet. That's just an opinion.

Actually if you watch. Luke had his foot outside of ryans the whole fight. Who ever has their foot outside when you fight a fighter who is opposite of you(right vs. Southpaw ) will have a punching angle. Also Ryan doesnt use hs jab that well. He should have a dominant shotgun jab or even double jab head to body. I think he is using it more as a range finder. Ryan also doesnt throw as many combinations as he should . His right hand to the bogy would be a great punch but seems to only throw the whip hook there. And finally i think his defense will improve with reynoso. He needs to be able to punch on the move becuase of his height. Tuck that chin in young man. It looked like those idiots who always slap box on the corner with their chin up in the air. ! He has ability . But he needs to set up punches and not fall in love with his power.
I don't agree. I like the way Garcia responded after getting knocked down. I think he is mentally stronger than Ortiz ever was.

Not 100% true. Ortiz definitely dealt with and overcame adversity in the Berto fight.
Literally the only such moment in his career but it happened.
What adversity? Getting dropped by a feather fisted Euro bum?
Another Casual. You don’t box, why r u posting on a boxing forum? That’s cringe ASF.
Explain to me how Luke Campbell who is AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL winner and has 16 ko’s in 20 fights (66% ko ratio) is a feather fisted bum?
Luke Campbell won an Olympic gold medal in boxing, do you have any idea of the boxing skills required to do that?
Luke Campbell also has a 66% K.O. ratio vs Manny Pacquiaos 63% ko ratio so I guess manny is feather fisted to?

This right here.
That heart is what will take Ryan Garcia further than Victor Ortiz every could imagine. Ortiz always knew in his mind he would quit when it got too hard, I dont think Ryan Garcia will.

I think he fights alot like Canelo in his stance and footwork but he definitely needs to learn to tuck his chin or move his head or retreat in angles not just straight back.
He definitely knows how to whip that left hook though which if he lands flush will kd most guys.
