I don't disrespect boxers who have obviously contributed greatly to boxing history. I want to learn about Hagler's best fights/opponents. But just off skimming his resume, he beat Duran who was a lightweight, Hearns who has a welterweight, and definitely lost to SRL imo...
What are the defining fights for Hagler so I can check them out? Thanks!
Why I blocked his punk ass. Just cuz I ain't agree with him he pulls the race card then start bringing up how I talk.
Dude I just joined recently and I noticed this forum is racist as ****
Minter was a good fighter man. Good technically, very sharp left hand, good combination puncher. You don’t achieve what he did without being talented.
Different game back then man, different era. I think he would be a fringe guy today at MW. Maybe a Macklin type of guy.
Yes I watched film on him, as mentioned earlier. He wasn't good by today's standards.

Based on what? He achieved great things both amateur and pro.
And please don’t cite his early losses that where due to cut eye stoppages, under modern rules he’d have won the vast majority of them by decision as the cuts were cause by head clashes.
Have you actually watched Minter or are you another member of the boxrec brigade?

It's important to add the context, which is what you asked for so in regards to your question:
1. Roberto Duran wasn't just a lightweight. That description would make sense if all of his success happened at 135 but that's not the case. Duran was one of the best (if not the best) lightweight ever and he defeated Iran Barkley for a middleweight title six years AFTER the Hagler fight. Duran is an all-time great.
2. Tommy Hearns wasn't just a welterweight. He won titles from 147 all the way up to cruiserweight. Once again, he is another all-time great
3. Sugar Ray Leonard won titles from 147 all the way up to 168-175. Another all-time great.
No, Alan Minter sucked.

It all makes sense though. He had to be on something to give Sugar Ray bigger gloves, 12 rounds and a bigger ring just to get a higher pay day lol.
And also spending the first half of the fight out of his natural stance trying to outbox an elite boxer.

I think guys can be like that sometimes, I know I can be -
'OK whatever, give him whatever he wants, I will still beat that ass'
That was probably what he was thinking. Like spotting a guy some points in a game to 10 in basketball.
I wonder when he realized 'oh sh.it I should have negotiated more'
Completely different circumstances.
Lennox got iced, Hagler lost close and disputable decisions.
Stretched by one punch from 2 guys that wouldn’t get into the HOF if they were on the voting committee
Ah man I’m just about to start reading Hands of Stone! I love Duran but I’m worried I’m going to think he’s a total bastard after reading it.
:lol1: wtf I didn’t know that about Hagler. He always seemed the type to do his own thing and focus on his boxing, not the type to fall into a coke habit. That’s pretty crazy, I guess it was the 80s though.

Oh no, what a complete travesty. This is worse than the Holocaust.
So she moved from her predominantly black country to a predominantly white country, to get a better job, and some of the natives complained about her being black?
I wonder what would happen if a white woman moved to Kenya to be a reporter? I wonder if some of the natives would complain about a white woman being a reporter in their predominantly black country?
How sad it must be to see victimization everywhere lol.

What wins, other than the ones I mentioned, are really that noteworthy? Hyping up guys like Alan Minter, I mean lol man. Watch some film on some of those guys.
Lineal 160 champ is not a good win?
I don`t have to watch film, I watched fights.
In addition to that one, each of them have their own biography with Leonard and Duran having autobiographies. I have the Duran and Hearns other books on kindle. The hearns bio was taking too long to drop so I just bought the kindle version. The Sorcery At Caesars is about the Leonard /hagler fight. I had no idea that Marvin had a coke problem in his career lol.

...winning a rematch doesn't take away the first loss. Lennox's losses to Rahman and McCall for example still exist. Losses still count against a guy even if they win the rematch.
Completely different circumstances.
