Haters are questioning Ryan chin after being knocked down for the first time in his career but seem to forget the grit the kid showed to get back up and finish Campbell off. Honestly, Ryan’s demeanor reminded me so much of Tito Trinidad. People seem to forget that Tito was dropped multiple times earlier in his career but always got up more determined to finish off his opponent. Ryan showed that same grit this past Saturday, he didn’t play it safe after the knocked down but continued to throw bombs at Campbell. The kid has heart and made a fan out of me with his performance once he shores up that defense he’ll be ready for anyone @ 135.
So why did his "power" disappear?
It didn't disappear, except for Mayorga and Cherifi, the guys he later fought after a series of retirements, were,as well as having excellent chins, like Hopkins and Wright, seasoned champions, he was lucky with Joppy because Joppy was too aggressive and left himself wide open. and once he went down, never recovered. He was not a top champ average good but not a great fighter like Trinidad.
Look who he lost to, Hopkins, the champion foul master, who was a light heavy masquerading as a middleweight, and with a glove on his head, Winky Wright, who had the most impenetrable defence, and Roy Jones, for goodness sake, at 170 lbs.
He actually retired after the Hopkins fight, and returned to KO Cherifi who was a 3 time WBC and WBA champ, then retired again. Then unretired for Wright and retired again, and a few years later came the Jones fight.
So he really had a great career.
That wrap is Illegal in most states, not illegal in LasVegas. Exactly the same method Canelo uses. Don’t be embarrassed though, Abel Sanchez didn’t know that either.
Look it up if you wish. I just read that Nazeem Richardson, commenting about the New York fight and the hand-wrap controversy, said that there was nothing wrong, it was just that Trinidad's wrap was not legal in New York although legal in many other states. In another comment he said that it was just in New York they were not legal, that Trinidad was not trying to take an advantage.
And this same conclusion was come to by the New York Boxing Commission who had a meeting about it after, that Trinidad was NOT trying to take an unfair advantage with the hand wraps.
But you know, on BoxingScene there are many very ignorant posters who really know nothing about anything except what their minds are happy with.
LMAO
You realise Trinidads own people admitted "hes always taped them like that"
Trinidad is just low blows and brass knuckles.
I also mentioned, which is not in your highlight, that Papa Trinidad had a long interview in a video and showed exactly, step by step, how he ALWAYS taped his son's hands, always inspected by reps of the other fighters, and that he had never before been questioned about it.
Other than that "little" omission, your post is accurate, and thank you for responding.
He was welter champ for nearly 7 years with 14 defences against top fighters.
The "low blows and brass knuckles" was uncalled for, and spoiled your post apart from not being true.
Do you recall how many low blows Salido threw at Lomachenko, with the full force of his extra 15 lb advantage that the ref cautioned but never deducted points for??? I don't, they were far too many.
I only recall Trinidad throwing 2 (likely intentional) low blows in all the fights I saw him in.,
LMAO

Damn, Berlanga better make sure to taste the canvas in his next fight or he might lose the Puerto Rican crowd
Seriously though, I get what you mean but IDK man tough comparison. That was a hard knockdown from non-power puncher. Yes, I do like that he got up and still had his legs and his eyes were clear - he just kept coming forward....but he was in a bad position, dropped hard, another guy could have turned the lights out. It was exciting to see him rally the next round though, that was fun.
the good thing is that I think some of the defense is improvable and the lesson has been learned hopefully
LMAO did you even read what you typed?
Actually yes. It's called standard operating procedure in boxing.
You always watch the other guy getting wrapped. That's how guys like Trinidad and Margarito got caught
Why should we believe the cheaters pops??? lmao
You're just making excuses because you don't have any real answers. I repeat that -using your words- guy's hands are being watched whilst being taped, Trinidad had never before been checked in ANY jurisdiction for taping infringement, only in, I think New York, where the rule was different. As he's fought in New York several times before the infringement obviously was NOT a major one.
I'm guessing you are from purto rico lmao
It's not my fault purto ricans aren't good at fighting lmao
You must be new to boxing...
Not my fault you are a cuck. Shouldn't you be crying into a bullhorn at the latest BLM rally?
"strong man"
Right...moved UP in weight and endured 27 headbutts from Hopkins before being KO'd.
What's your excuse for getting slapped around a forum all day?
This is a good post. The kid is still largely unproven. If they were the same weight, Trinidad would mash him up and swallow him down with no effort at all. Of course he has lots of time to get better and likely will. But too much hype already, he should not open his mouth so much so loudly, let him wait until it's really there.
Yeah man, I ain’t trying to hate on Garcia or anything. He passed a very solid test last weekend but let’s not get carried away. Calling him the next Tito is certainly getting carried away IMO.

You are quite possibly the dumbest poster on boxingscene...
"Tito was not a strong man...it was tape that gave him man power!"
Envy is a MFer.
BetaCucks....
Trinidad got dropped by worse fighters. And he needed loaded gloves to win fights.
That's a lie. He taped his hands according to the rules. It was just in that one jurisdiction where a different taping was needed.
Has anyone ever looked at the taping of his opponents' hands ....??? NO. and I'm sure that you know nothing about it, just looking for a spot to put in a nasty remark. Trinidad was a great Champion... are you...? Apart from being snide super champ.
Papa Trinidad gave a close up interview to show exactly how he ALWAYS taped his hands. Did you see it...NO.
Both arguably hit harder than Campbell, Stephens definitely does. If Stephens (not Stephans) landed the shot on Garcia that Campbell landed he ain’t getting back up. Have you actually watched Tito-Stephens or did you just check Boxrec?
Luke Campbell simply didn’t have the power to beat Garcia. He’s a good technician but he’s never been a puncher amateur or pro.
Just cause Garcia survived an early scare and went on to stop Campbell, that doesn’t make him the next Tito Trinidad. He has nowhere near the ability Tito had. Nowhere near...

Sorry but just no way. Tito at 22 years old was already fighting guys with 53-0 records with like 50KOs. The dude had balls you don't get on today's fighters.
That goes for the entire crop of new blood, not just Ryan. They're fragile. Built with the mentality and fear of losing their "0". Part social media, part Fraud Jr. creating these false beliefs. Losing your "0" should not matter of who you are as a quality fighter. Keeping your "0" should be red flags all over the place. I can't for the life of me fathom why fans care so much about it and in in part lose out on better matchups because of crappier match making for "0" fighter.

Garcia obviously has a long way to go before we make that comparison, however I understand the similarity as far as getting off the floor to stop your opponent.
Trinidads power vanished as soon as he couldn't load his gloves.
Didn't load his gloves he just had them wrapped in a way that is legal in Las Vegas and Texas, not unlike other notables. Tito's power diminished at higher weight classes, as expected.
Proof??
He got caught you moron. LMAO 😝
He didn’t.
“Nothing illegal was detected”. That’s from the NYSAC.
Don’t expect another reply troll. Feel free to waste your own time writing one though, you must have a lot of it to waste... :lol1:
