They are 1-1.
Fury is 1-1-0 with Wilder. If Wilder wins the third fight ( I doubt), the fourth fight will be needed.
So i say Joshua should fight Ruiz next, if Fury must fight Wilder again.
Footage of Ruiz beating Joshua up will sell the fight, no matter what Ruiz has done with the rest of his career.
I was surprised to see the clip of AJ knocking down Ruiz during the Pulev PPV. Its funny to see that knowing what happened right after that! LOL.
Ruiz is 31. He needs a big fight in the next 12-18 months to really get another title shot where he can be close to his best/prime. Looking at the rankings, Usyk or Hunter would be a good step towards getting back into a mando spot, IMO.
Joshua has many fights he has said he wants and we will see but Ruiz rematch may well sell in the future. Until then I suspect the following are all in front of him:
Fury
Usyk
Wilder
Whyte rematch (they fought when both upcoming)
Joyce
Dubois
Ortiz
Clearly Joyce and Dubois have work to do to get into position and Whyte has to beat povetkin too, but if he fights twice a year the above fights could take 3 years. Things may change in that time but I struggle to see Ruiz getting a rematch earlier than that at the moment, partially because Joshua basically beat him 12-0
All of these fights are much more exciting than Ruiz. He, along with Whyte and Dubois, need to get a big win in to rebuild and show they deserve to be in a PPV champ fight.
Ortiz is just way too old and past it now. He’ll be gatekeeper status soon.
I dont see a third bout taking place unless Ruiz comes back successfully with couple of good wins.
Agree. Unless he managed to get himself in a mandatory position, I doubt that Joshua (or Hearn) would want that fight. Joshua probably just paying a bit of lip service to Ruiz saying he would entertain a third fight.
If it did happen, expect a similar performance to Joshua Ruiz 2 from AJ. No way Joshua would want to meet Ruiz on the inside knowing that he can put together some fast accurate combinations.
If Fury Wilder 3 HAS to happen, Joshua v Usyk is only a good thing for Joshua and for HW boxing. Its the other HW that people want to see against Fury or Joshua, really.
I agree Ruiz stopped Joshua while Joshua cautiously outboxed Ruiz.
Let’s see if Ruiz can come in disciplined now that he’s with Reynoso.
Ruiz issue was not his trainer though, so Reynoso isn’t going to do anything to help. He will be like a placebo. It’s really Ruiz who needs to change. A boxer could have god in his corner as the headcoach, it is still up to the boxer. Especially an experienced boxer like Ruiz.
Sure why not. Joshua said he'd like to fight Ruiz again. It would be ridiculous to expect him to drop the WBO belt to do it but Ruiz let the fame and success get to him I'd happily see a better trained and focused Ruiz get a shot.
But then there is only 1 person to blame for the state he turned up to the last fight in. With the way Joshua fought I don't think it would of made a difference but that's just my opinion.
He blew it, he doesn’t deserve a pay day he needs to work his way back up. He was unified champion all he had to do is put the snicker bars down for 5 months and dedicate himself. He may have been fighting for the undisputed at this stage but it was all too much. His performance in the rematch goes down as the worst performance by a unified champion that didn’t really take no punishment. He just couldn’t move his fat hips around the ring and embarrassed his trainer .
HW division is weak and if Ruiz got serious, he could beat anybody.
I think he should gun for Wilder after tuneup.
When has the HW division been strong for folks like you?
Every division is always weak in your assessment. You are better of watching base ball.
Haa.
He isn’t even near the front of the queue, it has to be Fury x2 ,Usyk then Wilder..
If he actually manages to win that run of fights he goes down as a great..
Unless Andy destroys Wilder he isn’t getting in the mix for a few years.
So you say Fury must fight Wilder, even though he is 1-1-0 with him, but Joshua has no business fighting Ruiz. You are just a hypocrite. Even more, you even said, Wilder would be a winner of trilogy if he won the third fight, lol.
I must answer your question with a question -
Was there a rematch clause in the 2nd fight ? If so, Andy WAS NEVER in the mood to enforce it :boxing:
1st fight was clearly a fluke
It's why we didn't need Lennox to give his flukes a 3rd fight and why we didn't need a Holy Mike 3.

I don't even think he wants that. Besides, we've seen him fight pudgy overblown hard punchers before. Didn't end very well.
Ruiz could be a top fighter.
He knew what was ahead of him when he took the fight. Win once and become champion, make a lot of money in the contractually required rematch, and then win again to stay as champion.
He couldn't complete the task. He didn't even really get close - he was on the beer and burgers within 6/7 weeks of signing the first contract.
So I don't think Joshua owes him anything. He gave him his chance as a voluntary defence. Ruiz didn't take it. He blew it.
I think the trilogy will pop up later when AJ needs an opponent. Footage of Ruiz beating Joshua up will sell the fight, no matter what Ruiz has done with the rest of his career.
Wouldn't want to see it unless Ruiz has a tune up and shows up minus a few cheeseburgers. He disrespected the sport, the championship and the fans. He needs to prove himself, imo. That said, I'd be rooting for him if he got his **** together.
That explains why he eats so much & binges on weightgain 4000

(btw I'm in the extreme minority that says Ruiz weight wasn't why he lost it was because AJ bought the ref to break them up whenever Ruiz got close, the ref would push Ruiz as far apart as I've ever seen a ref do(its undebatable imo the ref was fixed)
& to make it worse AJ brought a ring from Dragonball Z that was like 150 feet wide:lol1:,& AJ literally just touched Ruiz a few more times while running like a scared pssy,& then acted as if he just outpointed Ali in a calculated schooling, when in fact Ruiz was only outlanded in jabs if I recall
(AJ showed me in that fight & vs Pulev that hes rubbish & won't stand a chance vs Fury or dare I say it Wilder because hes scared shtless of getting hit & has become the boxing version of a racecar driver that got in a horrible wreck & drives scared)

Lmao hey, he a heavyweight tho. As long as he can blaze and not overly stuff his face, I think he will be straight. Kid got them hands, all he needs is discipline.
Yea he is one of those fat guys whose speed is deceiving and he can get away with alot more sht outside the ring being a HW and all but he literally went from thousandaire to millionaire overnight. It’s gonna be tough to get motivated.
At the same time, I saw him about three weeks ago at a dispensary that I go to.. LA Kush, and he walked out with couple of ounces with a big ole smile on his face lol.

Ruiz is Chris Arreola 2.0. They like to talk about getting in shape and it never seems to materialize. Ruiz will not beat anyone in the top 5 again the rest of his career.
I may very well be setting myself up for disappointment once again with Ruiz, but I saw a video of him a week or 2 ago in camp with Reynoso. I think being around Valdez, Garcia, and Alvarez will motivate him to push himself. At least I am hoping it does :lol1:
