He does not have to fight Wilder if he does not want to and Wilder's relentless verbal attacks is a legit reason not to. Why give Wilder a high paying shot at his title after what Wilder has said. Fury could try to sue Wilder but I think it would be a waste of his time and money and he would not get a dime for his efforts and that is why he is not suing Wilder.

I think Wilder could defend a court case by saying he wasn't trying to harm Fury's reputation, as such, he was just trying to goad Tyson into fighting him again and make the fight bigger if it happened. Boxers, MMA guys, pro wrestlers, etc, talk all kinds of shit about each other online, about PEDs, paid off judges, whatever. It hardly ever ends up in court. Pro combat sports are a different world! Pretty much. Or he can say he just believed what others told him. Intent is always the hardest to prove.

Defamation is tough to prove because you have to prove intent. They would have to prove Wilder intentionally made up lies to try and hurt Fury’s reputation and cost him future opportunities. You can sue for anything you want. Don't mean it'll go anywhere. Does Fury have a case to sue successfully is a whole other thing. I have no legal background, however I remember a woman suing McDonald's for spilling her coffee on her self because it was too hot. If that can be entertained, why not this? I hate seeing this quote over and over again. The coffee that that poor woman spilt on herself was nearly 200 degrees Fahrenheit. She needed 8 days in the hospital and skin grafts. The case's infamy as a frivolous lawsuit is nothing but corporate propaganda by McDonalds.
