First off, big congratulations to lopez! At only 23 he did what I thought was impossible. Lomas performance though reminded me of hagler-leonard he just gave away so many rounds and was so inactive. Do you think loma is still p4p? Did he have an off night? Bad tactics?
Not really, he was just beaten by the better fighter
If he had tried commit early in the fight, it would’ve looked like the 12th round where Loma was getting doubled over with body shots. Loma knew that too from the first round.
Lopez took away his best assets and was the smarter and better fighter. So I don’t get disappointed at Loma. If you’re not good enough because your opponent was excellent then it is what it is.
At some point you need to start taking some calculated risks though. If he had opted to do that from rounds 4 or 5 on it may have panned out differently. Granted he might have gotten KTFO but in the end that seems like it would be less humiliating to him than getting outboxed.
lol idk man. I would say getting KTFO in like round 6 after getting nothing going, or even having it happen sooner earlier in the fight, I mean that would be very damaging to a fighter all around.
He was cautious with what he saw in front of him. Finally found some angles in 8-11 but it wasn't enough. He has looked more human at 135 and Teo was a tough matchup. Props to Loma for taking the fight and props to Teo for taking the win last night.
I don't think disappointed is the right word. It insinuates I didn't understand what was happening. I THINK he felt Lopez's power, saw his size, his strength, his length, his speed and realized this would take a cautious approach because he can't physically compete with this guy, at least not when he's fresh. Sometimes you have to recognize your opponents strengths are great and think your way through them. It just proved to be a tougher task than Loma anticipated. Maybe just disappointed that he didn't prepare better, perhaps underestimated Lopez's strengths.
I am disappointed Loma let so many bodyshots hit him, basically draining his energy even when he was offensively inactive. Meanwhile not landing nearly enough body shots of his own - and I do think Loma is a great body puncher on the inside.

No. That's the best he can do.
P4P has always been an empty garbage concept. The worst thing ever, along with ATG or TBE. Garbage.
Across divisions, if Loma was the same weight as everyone, he would beat them all. That's what the stupid concept means. Loma was handed his ass to him by a kid in his own class (division). Think about this BS.
Is Lopez now the number 1? Lol... Shameless.
Nobody is giving up the first 7 rounds of a 12 round fight and banking on the other gassing especially considering it was a very slow paced fight and he invested nothing to the body or to the head really for that matter.
BS.com has a dumb rule about when a person can give green....
A person can go 25 rds if you let him.

No not really. I knew he would be cautious early, he had to. Thought he would settle in around round 4 or so, but it wasn't until round 7 or 8. And he got some stuff going but it was too little too late. Great fight and I really enjoyed it.
When you are a high IQ fighter like Loma is, the first rule is don't do something dumb and get ktfo. Caution is key in a fight. You only open up when you have sure opportunities. Against Lopez those were not existent for him in the first half, and not open enough in the 2nd. He did come close to pulling it off a few times, but couldn't get it done.

Safe to say everyone expected more. I'm assuming even the people who were sure he was going to lose by KO expected him to actually throw some punches. According to compubox stats he threw 80 total punches in the first 7 rounds of which 31 landed. I'm betting even his biggest haters or detractors thought he would put on a better performance even if he was going to lose in their eyes.
He gave Lopez too much respect early and payed for it.
But I'm not disappointed he showed what he was made of also.
I'm more disappointed at him post fight.
