All things being equal, it was Lopez extra size. The length, natural strength, density of Lopez made the difference. He had a good game plan to boot. Good fighter, but I dont see this necessarily like a passing of the torch, I think Lopez is very good, but beatable.
I still think Loma is one of the best fighters in the world p4p, I think we've all been spoilt the last generation with Pac and Floyd, Oscar before that going through several weight classes, but not all fighters are built that way. Most fighters who are good enough to move up in weight top out at their 2nd or 3rd weight class, I think Loma should be praised for his accomplishments, and the willingness to take on a big young 135lb champion.
I understand the backlash from certain fans, where Loma was being touted as one of the greatest of all time which I personally never felt. But I do believe he is a potential ATG in that 126-130lb region with a few more big wins. I think size wise, and talent wise, he is comparable to Morales Barrera, JMM and could have hung with all of them, and potentially beat them on certain nights. But you can see he is pushing the limits at 135lb, it was obvious since the Linares fight that good 135lbers can touch him and hurt him.
Anyway good fight, Lopez showed some good dimensions, and is going to be a factor at 140lb. Him and Taylor is a barn burner

- -His background don't seem conducive to longevity, but with Arum backing, he'll have a chance.
Remember, he balked at the fight until Loma donated $300k, so now, typically he wants the stars, sun, and the moon in his next fight in a pandemic era he's been one of the few lucky ones to make something.
Don't want the lucrative rematch, so where does he land next?
Loma fans didn’t have much sympathy for Rigo being the smaller man. That size difference was much more apparent than last night and in a division where Rigo hadn’t been fighting.
Loma has very solid wins at 135, so It’s no excuse
The better fighter won.
Very well said.
Skills won that fight, it wasn't the size. Luke Campbell was a much bigger fighter and Loma won that fight.

hopefully this is the start of some big fights at 135, if loma can't handle the heat he need's to get out of the kitchen and go back to 130, both guys deserve praise for this fight, no ducking no diving the fight was made in a pandemic too, it's an example to other's
Loma needed to take more chances but he was rightfully cautious of Lopez’s power. My guess is that Loma assumed that Lopez would fold eventually but he didn’t. Was size a factor? Well, sort of but it wasn’t everything.
If they fought again Loma would have to take risks.
I honestly don't see even the best version of Loma beating the likes of Morales, Marquez, or Barrera.
There's a reason those 3 are ATGs.
Being a warrior and having heart!
Something Loma lacked in his fights.
It's seriously some weaksauce generation.
