Rematches are nonsensical to me.
I have to see them fight other fighters.
We don't have nine lives doe, especially when it takes
years to make meaningful fights. Why waste such time?
We already seen it.
Lopez, Haney, Davis, Garcia, don't you want to see these
guys fight each other?
Loma also has to be in the ring with the rest of these people.
no, only in close controversial fights, loma need's to get himself going again and build it up again next fight or two, i would be thinking of going back to 130 if i was him, i don't think he has the game to beat the top guy's at 135, he can't stay on the outside and win rounds
Nope, from the way Lopez described it, Loma’s camp wouldn’t afford him a rematch clause because they thought Loma would beat him & didn’t want to give him a 2nd chance, so why afford them that luxury? They shouldn’t have been so arrogant.
This might sound random at first but hear me out, IMO I think Loma and Lopez should both retire. They hyped up this fight for years only to throw less only about 1000 punches combined. The real Loma that we saw the rest of his career, until he fought someone with the potential to sell more tickets than him, is supposed to throw that many by himself in a 12 round fight, not combined with the opponent. It was like they carried each other the first 7 rounds so that they would only have to put in 5 rounds of work, instead of 12. This after having so much time to prepare for a full fight.
IMO, their hearts are not in the game anymore, because for all the build up, that fight was awful. Normally I would like to see a rematch but if this is how both these guys perform when they get a big fight, I would actually like to just see Loma retire, and Teofimo vacate all the belts and retire so that maybe G.D. can pick up the 4 belts. G.D. at least throws hard punches. Loma and Teofimo seem like they like to spar but not box. This fight was embarrassing for the sport, yet another black eye for the sport. This is supposed to be the top level of the sport but both of them half ass it and the result is after 12 rounds, you only had 10 or 20 clean good punches appearing to land the entire fight.
Not warranted, but it would be welcomed. At some point I will rewatch the fight, but I'm having a really hard time understanding people that had Loma ahead or thought he won.
Each rd is judged independently of the others. Almost as if they're their own mini fights. Yes there were a lot of close rounds, but Loma wasn't winning a lot of those, and he legitimately gave away 4-5 rounds. People are acting as if any time Loma landed something he automatically deserved the round.
I’d watch it obviously but I wouldn’t say it necessarily warrants a rematch, there was a clear winner
Lopez is only getting better at 23 and Loma is not going to improve at 32, only start slipping.
I think Lopez has his number and does a better job next time.
The lack of people calling for a rematch probably means it doesn’t need to happen.
I would say so. I believe wed actually see a more competitive and exciting bout second time out, with Loma understanding that he'd have to force the pace and take some risks.
It'd give Teo more openings too and I suspect lead to Vasyl getting at least hurt if not dropped.
Would watch for sure despite last night being something of a meh kinda fight action wise.
I think that fight set the scene perfectly for a rematch.
Looked to me like Loma went out to see what Lopez had, and once he felt the power he didn't fancy getting too close.
But Loma showed he can mix it up. A rematch would be a much better fight.
Exactly, and this is why I had Loma clearly winning.
I had it a draw. Even though Lopez didn't really land anything in the first 6 rounds, Loma gave up those rounds with no activity. I could see Lopez by 1 round but that would be a stretch. It'd be hard to argue.
I'm not sure how you rematch with judges scoring loud punches with no effectiveness.
The judges had it 11, 9 and 8 rounds for Lopez. That is absolute insanity.
I understand Loma knew he couldn't walk into that fire early. Lopez is sneaky, fast & hits hard and that jab also troubled Loma. When Loma finally turned it on, he looked like a man who could win the fight. It was very competitive in the last rounds but for Loma it was too little too late IMO.
I still didn't think it would take Loma THAT many rounds to get going. In a rematch would he start faster now when he knows what Lopez brings to the table? If he does will the result be different? Maybe, mabye not but why I wouldn't mind to see a rematch.
Can you imagine if he picked up up early? The scorecards might be the exact same.
Rematch? sure, every former champ deserves a rematch, but Loma will lose 10 out of 10 times. Loma has no power to worry bigger guys, if he tried to engage early, Lopez would've KO'd him. Lomachenko wasn't exactly dominating in the later rounds when he finally started to engage, Lopez landed shots too.
Don't see how people call it a clear win for Lopez. Yes Loma gave away the first half of the fight but hardly got tagged doing so. The last half Lopez got hit a lot.
