Or not really?
Was buster Douglas #1 after beating Tyson?
I had Lomachenko as #2 P4P behind Fury, and then Crawford 3rd. I've moved Lopez into the top 10 but he isn't better than:
Fury
Crawford
Wilder
Pacquiao
Spence Jr
Canelo
Inoue
And I can see arguments for:
AJ
Roman
Estrada
Povetkin
Beterbiev
As well. It's a great win, but very few even great wins should just propel you to the top when you weren't already a top 10 consensus fighter imo.
Didn't people start putting Lomachenko at #1 after he beat an older, smaller fighter that he was larger than?
No, and he had tried to make the fight with Rigo earlier at a lower weight, it's a shame it didn't happen then. But Lomachenko actually unified at 135 as an undersized non-puncher, he just fell short of becoming undisputed.
nope, he still needs some big wins, just like when Rungvisai beat Chocolatito and then brutally knocked him out in the rematch, nobody moved Rungvisai to P4P#1
Not really #1, we have a case of an older smaller fighter losing to a young talent that's also larger than him.

The thing with this P4P stuff is that it's just a theoretical hypothetical, there just as "a bit of fun" for boxing fans, but it's got taken too seriously.
There's very few instances where it can actually be PROVEN, and that was shown last night.
I take nothing away from Lopez's victory, but that fight proved nothing when it comes to a "P4P" argument. If every boxer was the same size, who would win?.... well, Vaseline didn't look outclassed, but he looked out of his WEIGHT class... Lopez looked 1-2 divisions bigger for me. 135 isn't a good fit for him.
It also can't apply to straight match-ups IMO, kind of doesn't work that way... if boxer A has a style that beats boxer B, does that mean he's better, P4P, if boxer B is able to beat boxers C-Z and boxer A can't?
Tell Terry O'Connor to put the phone down when he is supposed to be judging a fight.

In my opinion Loma is still a better p4p fighter than Lopez, he just may not be a better lightweight. But i fully expected Loma to go down in the p4p rankings and for Lopez to potentially enter people's p4p lists.
That seems fair.
Yeah I'm of the same opinion as Pandas there, I don't really do P4P but evaluating a fighter's overall ability ain't as simple as taking the result of one particular fight irrespective of how good the opponent. It's more a body of work thing with the emphasis on what's been done most recently.
I'm starting to think of Teo as one of the dudes could go on my loose 'elite' list but I'm wanting to see one or two more against top guys at 135 or 140 first.
I've never been of the opinion you can beat a top P4P guy & take his spot. I think this W gets Teo on the p4p list right above whereever Loma drops down to.
That seems fair.
