He's cashing out, and his promoters are cashing out.
He already knows he can't make 135lbs anymore and he'll move up to 140.
Mr."No More Tall Fighters" Lopez will move up to 140lb in which he won't have any clear advantages over any fighter.
There are some taller, bigger fighters in that weight class.
He knows himself he'll lose in that division. His promoter knows it.
It's time to cash out and move up for Mr No More Tall Fighters.

Something tells me a star was born.
Lol. I love these threads
Something tells me a star was born.
Nah. Where are the threads about the new star? It's going exactly as I predicted. There aren't even threads about a big upset. It's business as usual, except for Low-Tech fans getting ****ted on left and right.
I wouldn’t call it being cashed out but this is the kind of thing TR does.
Lopez can’t make 135 anymore, Loma is probably not going to 140or 147 unless he can make $20 mil.
This fight is win win for TR. if Loma wins as expected, he gets a big win over a top LW and clears the way for the Haney and Tank fights. Lose and he still had those fights for belts vacated by Lopez when he goes up.
Lopez wins he’s the next star in the sport. He goes to 140 with a huge rep. Lose and he lost to one of the best I in the world and he goes back and builds himself back.
This is smart business by TR. It’s how they’ve stayed at the top of the game for almost 50 years.
The only downside is of Lopez gets whitewashed like Canelo did to Floyd or he gets beat down like Chavez did Meldrick Taylor..
If Lopez stays hungry and focused he will be ok as long as he don’t get lazy
Loma is not Floyd and losing to him or even winning (Salido) hasn't made anyone a star. He himself isn't currently a star. That's the overhyped part of him. It's the end for Mr. Lopez.

You cant cash out a 23 year old. If he loses he has years to rebuild. 4-5 years from now he would reach whats generally considered prime years while Loma is either retired or has visibly declined enough that many people would believe the rematch goes differently. Its actually quite a low risk/high reward fight for Lopez at this stage in his career.
I don’t think López is being cashed out at all. He’s doing what Canelo did, taking on a big challenge very young. If López wins he’s an instant star.
If he loses then it’ll be a learning experience. He’ll still be young enough to rebound.

More like Top Rank cashing out Loma. The man wouldn’t be able to sell PPVs and he can’t sell out arenas. I think Arum is hoping that Teofimo wins because he would actually have a star.
I agree 100% with the bold. Didn't see your post first.

That fight will not happen if he loses. Davis will fight Lopez. That's what Lopez meant when he said he'd only want big fights next. Then Lopez can truly cash out, win or lose.
It'll be the end of the road for Loma. That's why it's more of a must win for Loma. Can't see Loma going back to his usual mandatory bumfest. If Lopez loses, I don't see him becoming anything in the future, either. Loser leaves boxing, for a while at least.
Top Rank is the one with nothing to lose.
Rigo is 57 years old brother. Teo win or lose isn't even in his prime yet. Completely different situations. I'd argue that Rigo fight WAS a cash out fight & I believe I'm on record here saying as much.
Obviously in boxing L's are seen as a scarlet letter of sorts instead of the learning experience they are, so yea he'll take a hit like everyone does with an L more or less. But win or lose Teo's best days are in front of him past Saturday night.
I'm one of the guys on here who says that losses don't matter, it's how you recover from them that matters, but most people don't share my sentiment. How many people on here don't think Loma should be in the top 5 because of an L?
And yeah, Rigo got that Old Man Face that Ortiz and Payano have. Came out the womb with a cigarette and a drivers license.
Lotsa things look bad. Cashing out & dropping a guy is a whole other thing.
Top Rank would be idiots to drop Teo however he loses. And they won't cuz they aren't idiots.
This isn't a cash out.
Silly ass thread. Or D- troll thread.
I don't think it's a cashout at all, but if it's Loma/Rigo 2.0 he takes a major hit IMO.
Rigo was a champion and 2x gold medalist and he vanished for a year, not a peep.
It is better for him to risk a fight with Loma while he is young. If he loses he can recover from this loss and maybe come back as a better fighter. He is the underdog going in, and he is a champion, so he has very little to lose. Imagine if he cherry picks an easier opponent and loses in an upset. There goes the money fight and it would be harder to recover from that. I respect Teo for stepping up to this challenge.
