Well Derevyanchenko is and was seen as a top middleweight and a legit test going into the fight so I don't think anyone was expecting a blowout either way.
It's funny because if Charlo had destroyed him then people would say that Derevyanchenko is damaged goods after the GGG fight.
People may say that, but I wouldn’t have. I couldn’t care less what others say might have said, but thanks for letting me know. Had Charlo destroyed Chenko he’d be propelled to the top of the division
He was seen as a legit test because Jermall has been a middleweight for 3 years, and has nothing to show for it. Granted the division isn’t that strong anymore but in 3 years, not a single top 10 guy? His highlight is the struggle against Korobov.
Meanwhile Jermell has been fighting the who’s who of 154 and stands atop of a fairly stacked division. Total night and day
What notes? 160 is much better division. Jermall also looked dominant when he was still at 154. Jermall did a good job against Derevyanchenko. But GGG and Canelo would be even much tougher fights, Andrade also. So it goes when you fight top competition.
I agree. Jermall is the better fighter of the two brothers. He fought the much better opponent on Saturday too.
Yeah I do my best to remain objective. I'm looking forward to seeing where both guys go from here. I would like to see Charlo face another elite opponent. I know Canelo is a long shot but I would be fine with a Demetrius Andrade or Chris Eubank Jr. if it's a matter of promotional affiliation.
I like Derevyanchenko and I would like to see him get another meaningful fight or two while he still has something left in the tank.
He will always have trouble with tall, rangy guys but he's a tough out for anyone as long as his face holds up.
Agreed, well said my friend. Derevy is a tough fight for anyone. Just doesn't give up and has a good workrate and toughness.
No one at 160 would look great against Derevy. I think that has been proven. Maybe now he is starting to become damaged goods, but it would likely be from accumulation of multiple tough fights/losses now and not just 1 fight.

At least you seem reasonable and dispassionate about the fight, which is good. It was definitely a competitive fight.

It definitely wasn't a 10-2 type of fight and I had it 8-4 for Charlo. I could see 6-6 if you favored Derevyanchenko's heart and relentless aggression but I favored Jermall's clean punching and I feel like he dictated the pace for the most part.

Jermall scraped that fight. His middleweight run is still lacklastre - missing that standout performance. If that was it, the bar is being set way too low
Jermell looks to be the dominant character at 154 though. His brother should take some notes

You sound drunk
1) the cards showed that Derevy never had a chance, based on what everyone was saying was going on in the fight. People generally, from what I was reading on here and on twitter, seemed to feel anywhere from 6-6, to maybe 8-4 to Charlo was a reasonable score. Everyone agrees the 10-2 card was awful as it was a close competitive fight.
I commented that it is sad that in a lot of fights, the B side has no chance to win on the cards, as was obviously the case here. I didn't need to watch the fight to know that. I just needed to look at what everyone felt about the fight and then look at the cards.
2) I then watched the fight myself to see how impressive Charlo looked, fully expecting him to win in impressive fashion. I didn't see that and I scored the fight according to what I saw.
Cry about it

We got people here claiming that the fight wasn't even close and it was actually a domination. I once said into a thread that the fight was competetive and close, was a 7-5 for Charlo for me and can't call a robbery, but one guy then said, it was actually a 9-3, and tried to convince me Charlo dominated.
People see what they want to see.

Jermall’s career has practically stalled since moving up. I had him way above Jermell prior to his move up, but Jermell is the only Charlo doing anything of note. This is Jermalls first noteworthy fight at 160 and he has been there more than 3 years now - and he barely scraped through it again a la Korobov
154 is much stronger than 160
160 has Andrade, Charlo, and GGG. Canelo too but I don’t think he’ll be active for a while. GGG is at the tail end of his career and Andrade has literally beaten nobody. All the money fights are heading to 168
I don't understand, why blue birds fly.... why children sing and people must die,
And I don't understand, why bluebirds fly...so highhh up innnnnn the sky. :theyareon

I dont get the people who are like "we told you so!"
A dead clock is right twice a day and some people, like myself, were waiting for the Charlos to have legit step up competition before proclaiming them as top guys, especially Jermall at 160.
Now he has a legit claim as a top guy with his win over Derevyanchenko. Too many of you talk about who's a hype job but root hypocritically for those guys.
Well see it again at 135 here pretty soon with Lopez and Garcia.

this might be true but jermall still lost to korobov and jermell to harrison so they are still losers just like loma is a loser for losing to salido
Just like Klitschko is a loser loosing to AJ
Just like Canelo a loser loosing to Mayweather
Just like Lennox Lewis is a loser getting beat by McCall
Just like Holyfield losing to Lennox
Just like Foreman losing Ali
Just like Ali losing to Fraiser
Or pacquiao losing to Jeff Horn
I can go on
We all know why that is............
For me I love s#hit talkers. Nothing pleases me more than talking yourS#hit but backing it up in the ring. Broner tried and he had me but he is garbage to me now. However,The Charlo’s I like their energy but after a while if you have been talking for a few years and have no live opponents I need to see some action in the ring against a quality operator before I start campaigning for you. Plus I didn’t like the way Danny Jacobs walked up to him with a Hawaii shirt on and Jesus sandals , he turned from a lion to a laughing hyena.when only 5 minutes prior he said he was looking for Jacobs.
Anyway I didn’t watch the fight as I’m in London but I heard he handled his business. I’m happy for him, why wouldn’t I be I heard his chin is legit which puts him in good stead. His brother annoys me a tad with his whining when he lost to the boxer from Detroit but he is unified now so kudos to him. I will probably watch both fights later today

Jermall should rematch Korobov and Derevy first before thinking of going to other directions.
Oh yeah, he needs to fight Eubank Jr as well. He outperformed him with Korobov and showed him what true power means.
Doesn’t change the fact that 118-110 was a sh!T card. No problem with either man getting the nod. It was a close fight. Needs a rematch though
Edit: Imagine if Dervy won a couple more rounds. Imagine how it would have went judging by the scorecards. It was going to a robbery direction
- -Scoring in boxing is deliberately non transparent and not logical, ie 10 point must where in a title fight each fighter starts with 360 points divided by 3 and then incrementally deducted from there for starters.
Even rds going to the money fighter old school stuff and the reason fight fans howl so after every other fight.
And most of the howlers are the ones whose stakes went up in smoke, ie the 114-114 Canelo/TUE 51-0 card in a nothin fight of action.
