Two multi-division champions. Both men fought legends and became legends themselves.
Who was the greater fighter? The Golden Boy of boxing, or the Motor City Cobra?

Yes, I think dlh is greater..I think Hearne reputation is a lot to do with Duran fight.
Hear nd didn't look special that fight, rather what on earth was wrong with Duran that night?
I read somewhere (maybe in the four kings book) Duran was always intimitaded by Hearns. Not Hagler or SRL but Hearns.
Might explain it
Hearns. My favourite fighter ever in victory and defeat. Took his lumps vs Hagler didn't run like Oscar did vs Tito.
Oscar did fight the best though no doubt about that. Hearns was a true warrior though.
I think so. 1997 and/or 1998 before Roy Jones Jr got hot

Oscar slips and blocks those jabs and lights Hearns up with fast combinations upstairs. Hearns never gets to land that right. Hearns is too tough to get slept but the ref waves if off due to blood loss and the fact that more of Hearns face is all over the canvas and front rows than on his skull.
You’re acting like Oscar has some kind of great defence when he doesn’t.

I don't know if you're trolling or not. If you're serious, Oscar never dominated any fighters that were even half as good as Hearns. Oscar was not in Hearns league as a fighter.

I can't disagree with you about what Hearns might have done. I only wanted to point out that Oscar didn't run all night when he fought Trinidad. For the 9 rounds that he chose to engage he was quite effective. He did fight Trinidad quite carefully though and that was rightfully so...he knew what would happen if Trinidad caught him with some of those big hooksI didn't say he ran all night. I said he moved/boxed. He would shoe shine Trinidad with combos and flurries and then move and circle out of harm's way before Felix could return fire.
Yet, he was still sticking and moving though. Besides, Trinidad doesn't have a jab or the fast hands like Thomas Hearn's had. Tommy would jab the living shit out of Oscar for circling and moving laterally across the ring like that; While setting him up for that huge right hand of his in the process.

To be fair Oscar was beating the s4it out of Trinidad for the first 9 rounds. He only got on his bicycle for rounds 10-12Yet, he was still sticking and moving though. Tommy's power would keep De La Hoya on the back foot moving and circling all night; Like he did against Felix Trinidad.

Hearns is one of the most overrated fighters. Here are his best wins...
147: Pipino Cuevas, Randy Shields
154: Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran
160: none
175: Dennis Andries, Virgil Hill
Not even counting what DLH did before 147, his welterweight resume takes a steaming hot dump all over Hearns's welterweight resume. Hearns has the edge at 154, DLH at 160 due to the Sturm win. I like DLH's body of work from 130-140 over Hearns's wins over Hill and Andries.
