Judah can’t box, has sht stamina and no heart. He tries to intimidate you with speed, and if that doesn’t work he’s fuked because he slows down and is a sitting duck mainly on the defensive, and his defense is lackluster. That fight still went 11 rd’s. Even Mayweather looked to be on the way to stopping this guy.
Matter of fact, besides the bums like Alfonso Gomez and Jensen (w/e his name is), everyone either went 11 or decision with Cotto at welterweight. If Urkal and Judah can go 11, Thurman can go the full distance.
Thurman is a champion calibre fighter. Unlike Judah he can actually box and control his space, he’s got much more skills (snd obviously fights back much more) and more dog in him than those guy’s.
Instead of comparing to Judah, have a look at Urkal, flimsier and weaker but more comparative to Thurman’s style. Corner threw the towel in the 11th while the guy was on his feet. Both Judah and Urkal are smaller than Thurman too.
I think people should consider that with Porter and Garcia, Thurman was already battling injuries and inactivity and this is the testing era. If you want the big most physically imposing version of Thurman, look at the Guerrero fight. That’s the peak Thurman.
Most of Thurman’s damage I can see coming when he covers up. Sure Cotto can hurt him to the body too, but I wouldn’t bet on him landing some Golovkin-Macklin punch.
It’s weird that people here undermine Thurman yet overrate Judah alot.
He’s lucky he didn’t encounter a Shaun Porter, or he would’ve gotten murdered by sheer activity
Keith Thurman maybe has faster punch combinations, but for actual single punch speed? Miguel Cotto is quite level 'I think the fight would be similar to Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah'.
Miguel Cotto wins via TKO round 8-9, in a action packed fight.

If a one dimensional Randall Bailey can line up a few hard rights against Cotto then I think Thurman can land quite a few more along with a variety of other shots.
It’d be back and forth while it lasted.
By that analogy Manny can be KOed by any b grader that lands, and youre also saying any B grader can land, boxing just does not work out that way, there are so many reasons why a performance with one guy does not guarantee the same thing against another guy, motivation alone can be the sole reason for a guys worst and best performance.
What guys did Thurman beat that are anywhere near the opponents Cotto faced.
You mean he fought the unproven top guys of today, the top guys today have not proven themselves like the top guys of the last era thats the point.
This era hasnt settled in yet what super fights have their been, does Porter Spence qualify as a super fight like say Oscar vs Mosley, I dont think so.
The best of any given time is not equal to the best of another time just on face value, thats why winning a belt does not mean sht on its own, who you beat and when you beat them makes it great or just a high value trinket.
The problem is most people on this forum are simple and dont understand your point.
If all fighters at WW today are C level or lower (which they are) and a few emerge as superior that doesnt make them A fighters. Rather theyre C+, B-, or maybe even a B.
Crawford is the only one who might be B+ cause this is his 3rd weight class and hes never had a close fight yet...in addition to passing the eye test
Cotto. And its not close
Prime Keith almost got KTFO by literal journeyman in Josesito Lopez and Luis Collazo in addition to 46 year old Manny. And Keith has been hurt by body shots how many times??? And what was Cottos bread and butter? That's right, hook to the liver.
Cotto TKO
What makes Porter not proven? He just fought every elite in their prime. He was one of prime Manny’s major sparring partners.

I think Thurman wins. When history books are written these 2 will be considered 2 very good serious operators at WW.
PAC the flyweight has wins over both.
What does that say about PAC? People say srr was so great as he has legitimate claim for being best ever ww and middleweight! Well PAC the flyweight has a better ww resume than ww campaigners
Pac fought Cotto at catchweight( I could be wrong mind you) Considering Pacquiao age it was a very good win over Thurman but was that the Thurman of old? With all his injuries and time out the ring one can argue Thurman was not really the same. Pac beat Oscar also. That Oscar was spent.
That's a great fight but yous know who I'm going with! Keith is bigger and more athletic than Cotto. He would land a better variety of shots and win a lot of the exchanges being the quicker/more explosive guy. I can see both guys getting hurt and Thurman walking away with a close UD
Cotto is battle proven at elite level, many times proven, I believe he would break Keith down and stop him late round. he would do it in 6 rounds against the broken version Manny fought, who has Thurman beat ?
For me the modern guys TC Spence Thurman Porter are not proven at the level of the last generation guys , to be honest todays best have done fck all by comparison with the last generation, Floyd Manny Oscar Cotto Mosley have many times been in superfights , this lot been in none.

Wow this is actually an interesting match-up. Thurman has the power that can put Cotto on queer. Cotto’s body punching can also make Thurman fold. Both have great abilities. Both can box and move. This can be a war, this can be a little chess match, or this can work both ways too.
Manny couldn't stop Thurman. He did drop both of them, But Cotto was more hurt than Thurman.
Cotto was relentless in the first half against Manny, which resulted in him getting knockdown twice. Manny was just a monster fighting at a backfoot. Thurman is easily the smarter fighter.
Thurman will win against Cotto by decision
there is an article explains how pacman deceives people about his size. he has the skeletal frame that is bigger than his looks. example his wrists is 8 inches which is the size of mike tyson's, while the most average person has only 7". thats how he can carry his speed and power up to WW. and i think that his limit cant go pass 150lbs due to his height. also look at his badass calf. literally a hulk calves.
Youre out of your mind. Pac was a completely different human. Some would even say he was juicing. Regardless, Thurman doesnt make it out the first round against THAT Pac.
I’m rolling with Cotto here. Thurman’s chin has been shaky and he just isn’t as skilled.
Hell, in my opinion, that past prime Shane is better than Thurman in almost every facet.
Thurman succumbs to that left hook eventually and gets picked off his rhythm all night with Cotto’s jab.
Stylistically, people keep saying this is a bad matchup for Cotto but I think it’s the opposite. Cotto always had issues with otherworldly pressure from guys who could *handle* his power, southpaws, and elite counter punchers.
Thurman doesn’t survive 12. That pre-marg Cotto was mean and not gun shy at all. Too methodical, strong, skilled, and sharp for Thurman.
Cotto would have a field day walking him down and Thurman would be too wide with the majority of his punches for any real concern from Cotto.
If Josesito Lopez’s small ass walks you down and almost stops you, imagine a prime Cotto. He’d hurt this man.
Exactly! This is where you drop the mic bro.....
That was not prime cotto. He had gotten plastered by margacheato and never looked the same again. Also prime cotto had Evangelista as his trainer he had his friend training him for that fight. Cottos prime died July 26 2008
What;s really fugged, is that Cotto lost to a zombie version of Margarito.
