IMO, he should. He was promised in writing that he would get Canelo, but looks like DAZN will not hold up their end of the contract.
Now, do i believe he would sue? I don’t think so because GGG is content in fighting c-level fighters.
Thoughts?
$4.5 mil is the best case scenario. You didn't include promoters cut, managers cut or cable/satellite provider cuts. "Merchandise" lol less than a mil.
Nobody includes promoters and managers when discussing money. Canelo is making $35M per DAZN, that number does not include promoters and managers. When people discuss fighters' purses, they talk about after outsiders get theirs. I did include cable cuts in that 50%. Networks typically take 50%. You know all of this.
NOBODY is offering GGG $10 mil a fight, not even DAZN. And the only reason they're paying him is for one fight. CANELO!!
By your logic, if Golovkin is worth nothing without Canelo, and DAZN gave him $15m/fight for 6 fights.. that's $90m. If other 5 fights are worth nothing, then he's worth ~$90M to DAZN, not $15.
He's nothing without Canelo. He doesn't want to fight anybody but bums. He had a tough fight with Jacobs then ducked BJS so he wouldn't miss out on a Canelo payday.
Lol. He 'ducked' BJS (the guy who was ducking him, publicly, for 2 years prior), because he had a contractually obligated rematch clause against Canelo. This is reallllllly thin. Like that guy who hates G and always quadruple hateposts for past 5 years, aboutftime?
The second fight with Canelo got postponed and he ducked Dervy to fight an inactive super welter weight and pulled him up to 160. And we're not gonna mention that 2nd fight was postponed because Canelo pissed dirty, and G had 1 month to find a replacement on last minute notice?
Lost to Canelo then clout chased him to DAZN then fought Steve Rolls AT A CATCHWEIGHT!!! ..... because a catchweight somehow benefits him? Steve Rolls spent most of his time at SMW, and some time at MW. Golovkin spent his career at MW.
Had a tough fight with Dervy(he lost)
That's funny. 90% of the world thinks he won the 1st Canelo fight, and 60% of the world thinks he won the 2nd (30% thinks it was a draw), yet you're absolutely sure Canelo won because that's the official decision. Against Sergey, Golovkin got the official decision, and majority saw him won...... yet somehow in your eyes, he lost too? Let me guess, he lost against Kell Brook too?
then he turned down the Canelo fight .... because he had a Szeremeta fight signed, AND Canelo said 'no' to a rematch for the past 12 months?
to fight some bum i'm not even going to bother to look up his name. He tried to claim it's his IBF mandatory but the IBF came out and said it's not a mandatory. Nobody is going to pay $10 mil for the GGG bum tour When that fight was signed, Szeremta was the mandatory. https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/28688675/promoter-says-gennadiy-golovkin-mandatory-defense-vs-kamil-szeremeta-happen-least-april Nobody will pay him $10M? That's interesting, because DAZN is paying him $15M.
PBC offered him 8 figures but told him he'd have to fight Charlo. He choose to go to DAZN cuz they'll let him fight bums while he chased Canelo. He had a choice between fighting an unknown Charlo for $10M or superstar Canelo for $15M? That's a tough one.
Anybody who is a fan of GGG is NOT a fan of the sport of boxing.
Man, you've been drinking a LOT of haterade since you were gone. Previously, your arguments were definitely against Golovkin, but they were intelligent. This recent stuff, is realllllly thin. There are plenty of morons here who didn't finish high school and can't count past 12. You're better than this.
Brook was a PPV in the UK and those numbers you're naming aren't accurate
Jacobs was a PPV in America that did less than 200k and his base salary before upside was $2.5 mil. How you're getting an extra $2.5-$4.5 mil upside is beyond me.
Arum is cheap. He is not paying GGG $10 mil. That was the first deal GGG rejected when he was a free agent. DAZN isn't even paying GGG $10 ffs. He's getting $7 mil and stock options. His value is tied to Canelo. Without Canelo he's not driving any subscriptions or selling any PPV's.
https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2017/3/17/14959846/golovkin-vs-jacobs-purses-2-5-million-ggg-1-75-million-jacobs-boxing-ppv
Reportedly, GGG earned $5 million for his 5th round TKO win over Kell Brook in England
I'm too lazy to find the buried article about Jacobs final purses. For basic math, 170k * $65 = $11m + $3.7M gate + merchandise ~= $15m. To make it easier, we'll assume arenas and HBO took 50% of each, leaving $7.5m for fighters. PPV split was in G's favor, even if we conservatively say it was 60/40, that's $4.5m.
And your argument for Arum not paying Golovkin $10m is that........ he offered it to him before, but now he wont?
Glad you're back.
He agreed to fight GGG in May of 2020. GGG said he wanted to fight that guy he's fighting now and they agreed to fight in September of 2020. Of course Covid threw those plans out of the window but Canelo isn't the reason they haven't fought yet.
We’re talking about when canelo sat out in September to avoid ggg, not what happened after the kovalev fight. Not sure why you brought any of that up when you were talking about the derev situation in the first place.
lol nobody is paying GGG that much money. He's nothing without Canelo.
Based on what? He was making $5-7M vs. Brook and Jacobs before Canelo exposure. After those 2 fights and before signing with DAZN, he was offered 10 or 12m by Showtime or ESPN (unless my memory is deceiving me). Since then, he's been in a fight of the year candidate against Derevyanchenko.
Arum will easily throw $10M at him to fight Murata in Tokyo, and it would be very easy to make him fight the winner of Sergey/Jermall. If Saunders is able to get in decent shape, Hearn can sell that fight too since it's been talked to for 4 years.
G is the B side against Canelo, but to pretend he's 'nothing' is laughable.
Nah. If he sues DAZN, his career is over as he'll be stuck in legal limbo until 40.
It doesn't sound like DAZN will be able to get out from Szeremeta fight since they signed for it, which will mean he'll have $45M/3 fights left. If he proposes an opponents for the 4th fight (not Canelo because of lawsuit), and DAZN turns them down, it's highly likely they can amicably separate, and he can fight for on Showtime for $10m/each. or if he gets tired of fighting, then he can sue DAZN.
IMO, he should. He was promised in writing that he would get Canelo, but looks like DAZN will not hold up their end of the contract.
Now, do i believe he would sue? I don’t think so because GGG is content in fighting c-level fighters.

Was a Canelo fight part of the contract like you suggest?
Yes. He's the one that set this all in motion last year when he sent DAZN a letter telling them if he doesn't get the Canelo fight he wants a title shot and that's how GGG ended up snatching Derveychenco from Canelo. Dervy took less money on paper to fight GGG than he wouldve fighting Canelo.
When the smoke clears you all will see how DAZN, Oscar, and Eddie sabotaged Canelo.
Canelo could have fought ggg himself, there was nothing stopping him. That was arguably the biggest fight in the sport. But you’d rather talk about ggg “snatching” a lesser opponent away from canelo, instead of canelo turning the ggg fight down.
Here's one right here. This was written back in August of 2019. Everything has fallen into place since then. Including GGG snatching Dervy from Canelo. That fight was announced in late August.

Canelo has been sabotaged!GGG did not snatch the Dervy fight from Canelo. He had nothing to do with that
. Canelo refused to make the fight. Canelo could have gone to purse bid also but he refused and gave up his belt instead. Don't blame that on GGG because it was all canelo's own doing.

Thoughts? My thoughts are you are a stupid lying Canelo loving, GGG hating jack ass trying to be clever. GGG just fought a fight of the year type fight with Dervy to win the IBF world title. The same Dervy Canelo blatantly ducked and gave up his IBF title to avoid the fight. GGG would love to fight Canelo a third time but Canelo wants no part of it even after telling GGG to win a title and he would fight him. GGG isn't suing anybody. He is content to be the IBF middleweight champion and live up to the terms of his contract. His next fight is with the young undefeated number 1 challenger who is a good fighter. Your hero Canelo is the guy suing everybody including Oscar so he can cherry pick his own fights and avoid good fights than fans want to see. I will enjoy watching GGG fighting good fighters twice a year. You can enjoy Canelo the king of the court room being out of action for another year or two.

MCC seems like when the smoke clears we are gonna hear from more than just G and Nelo. TBD

What's your source of knowledge stating that he was "guaranteed a Nelo fight"?
Yes, he was being stifled at DAZN and with Golden Boy. He was being held back. He made a good career move. Now he is free to fight the type of fights that he wants to fight. Hopefully, he signs at least one fight with the PBC to challenge Jermall Charlo.
