Why is Crawford not held to the same standard as other 'P4P' fighters?

Crawford is just in house protected guy, like Gervonta and other American "stars".

Why are people saying crawford-thurman is a weak fight? It's not, it's just that Thurman might never be 100% again. I think it would be a great fight.

The last two years of his career have been extremely disappointing, and I see no end in sight. Can't knock anything he's done up until winning a 147 title though.

Those who've been on here for long enough will know I've always been critical of Crawford, I've never seen him as a P4P type of fighter, simply because he has never proven himself against top level guys. I'm not denying that Crawford is a skilled fighter, but how much longer is he going to get 'eye test points' instead of actually proving himself against real top dogs, like previous and current P4P fighters have? There are multiple guys with less than 20 fights who have better resumes and have accomplished more than Crawford, yet they get little recognition. This 'nobody wants to fight him' narrative is boring and only casuals run with that BS, like when it was happening with Golovkin who was constantly shat on. Fighters will fight ANYONE if you put up the money and that's facts. So lets stop blaming other fighters and start looking and Crawford and his team for simply not attempting to get big fights for him. He is promoted by Bob Arum so the media seems to give him a pass. Otherwise they will lose access to Top Rank fighters. Also Arum is good at muddying the waters and using smoke and mirrors. These past few months he has been dropping names like Pacquiao and Porter...when the entire time he knew damn well that Crawford's next opponent was going to be Kell Brook. People fall for it every time. Even after all these years.

Canelo has beaten top level fighters man, there's no comparison All the names on his resume are just names. There's no substance behind it. Beating up washed up cotto and washed up kov while robbing ggg isn't all that great.

He was WBO champ at 135 bro, putting a fancy word in front of it doesn't impress me. Adrien Broner is a legitimate 4 division champ. It's a good achievement for sure, what I'm saying is, a whole bunch of fighters would have the same record as him with the same opponents he's faced. He hasn't beaten any top fighters. Broner’s not legit because 2 of them were vacant title against guys not in the Top 10. I might be mistaken at 135. Crawford only held one belt at 135? I don’t think all that many could do that’s he’s done to be honest. I totally agree he needs to improve his resume quickly and it’s not a great resume by any means. But, I don’t think it’s terrible either. I think it’s quite good. But yes in his 30’s now he needs the elite guys on there. Like the Spence’s, Porters, Garcia’s etc

I get it, it’s not some stellar resume. But cleaning out 2 divisions is not an easy feat. He’s a legitimate 3 weight world champ. Lineal in 2. Surely that’s a good achievement. We’ve all seen how easy it is to tear down a resume in hindsight but at the time guys like Postol for example was considered a big win. Unified champion at 135 Undisputed champion at 140. Champion at 147 and he beat the man who beat the man too. No one has accomplished more than that that isn't named Manny Pacquiao. People criticise his resume but those guys he beat at 140 were undefeated or unified champions at the time. Nobody was calling those fights cherry picks when they happened. It's like when people try to sell Trout short as an opponent, people forget that when Canelo beat him he was undefeated and had just beaten and schooled the man at 154 at the time. Crawford has accomplished more than your favorite guy if your favorite guy ain't Manny. All that said, there is not 1 hall of famer or p4p fighter for that matter on the dudes resume. Nobody can knock his accomplishments, but I get the criticisms of who he had to go through to get those accomplishments. Even the biggest Bud nuthuggers know deep down inside the dude's resume is paper thin.

Crawford has accomplished more than your favorite guy if your favorite guy ain't Manny. he wasn't unified at 135, he was only the wbo champion and for some reason they gave him the ring magazine belt and made him lineal (or undisputed i don't remember). at that weight class, his best win was gamboa who is a short fat feather weight, same gamboa who was very inactive and was KO'd by someone like castellanos, so... :dunno:

there are people on this site calling lomachenko a hype job, and they are serious about it, yet crawford is the number 1 p4p fighter for many and hasn't fought anyone, i also find it baffling

I think you've got to give him a certain amount of the benefit of the doubt, because he's been caught up in boxing politics and it's clear the other top fighters at the weight don't seem eager to fight him. That said at some point something's got to give and he and/or Arum will have to make some kind of concession to get those guys into the ring with him. Unfortunately, if his reluctance to fight for less money during the pandemic is anything to go by he might not be willing to make that concession. IMO his skillset is #1 p4p calibre, but right now Loma is clearly beating him thanks to his superior record. However, even if his resume isn't what it could be, the manner in which he wins is pretty much always very impressive, which is something that not all of the top fighters can say. That's probably the one thing that's keeping him from slipping any lower than #2 for me right now, though that could change soon if Canelo comes up with another impressive win and Crawford stays inactive in the near future.

I think fans in general are just getting frustrated with the lack of quality opposition he's faced since being at Welterweight which is going on 3 years now. Even his hardcore fans are beginning to shrug their shoulders let alone Crawford seems OK with it, no sense of urgency. Truth is, he's going to be 33 without a "Marquee" fight under his belt. I posed the question about when his contract would be up to free him to fight Al's guys BUT if he re-ups with Top Rank I think it's safe to say that ship might be headed to dock without any passengers if that makes any sense. People can't expect him to fight C level talent then all of a sudden landing the Spence fight.
